Stewart Sutters has a perfect understanding of finding out about your needs and he has this incredible ability of transforming it into a visible output, no matter if it’s a logo for internal or external campaigns, a small brochures or even a whole internet presence or glossy magazine for customers! What makes a great website?

Taking time to plan the website and content. Making sure the website works for my clients and their customers. Creating a website should not be aimed at designers wanting to win design awards. It should be aimed at improving my clients business.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

I have such a wide range of clients and projects, it is difficult to list questions. However, I would start by asking why my client needs a website, or why their current website is not working. What are they expecting out of a website.

Describe your creative process.

I really like to plan.... I have found that the whole process seems to work better if time is spent at the start with detailed planning of the site. I tend to start with a basic site plan. This then moves onto a detailed wireframe document, outlining all of the functionality and content for a site. Only once this structure is approved, I move onto the design stage. Designs are submitted for client approval, and once these approved, then we move into development and testing.

What information do you need from a client before you can start work?

It does really help me from the start to have a clients budget. I know this is not popular, but it does give me a good idea of how I can structure the website and costs. It allows me to find the best solution quickly. And sometimes, it allows me and my client to establish if I am the right or wrong person for their project.

What do you love most about your job?

I am lucky to have loved my job from the age of 16, when I started in the 80's, working in the advertising industry in the west end of London. I love the diversity of clients, and the challenge of creating something from scratch.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After many years of working in London, I wanted to be able to pick and choose what clients I work with. By working for myself, it has enabled me to work on some exciting, varied projects, with companies and people from around the world. I have clients in Germany, India, Ireland and the US.

It is important to me to have a good working relationship with my clients. I am honest, reliable, and treat all clients in a fair manner. To my knowledge, I have never ever let anyone down with a deadline. This I am proud of...
