My husband and I reached out to GHC in the fall of 2017 because we wanted to make some updates to our West Loop condo before listing it in 2018.  Because we were planning to sell our condo, we wanted to be strategic in how we spent our money and make design choices that would appeal to a wide audience.  Karen and Stefani totally understood our goals and delivered beyond our expectations!Karen and Stefani worked well as a team, and we appreciated having both of their viewpoints on everything from which projects we should tackle to the finishing touches to stage our place.  We ultimately decided to redo our fireplace, renovate our kitchen (new counters, backsplash, sink, faucet, cabinet pulls and lighting), update several light fixtures, paint our entire condo, and make minor updates in terms of the decor.  The end results were amazing, and we have received a ton of compliments, especially on the kitchen and fireplace!  Our entire condo now looks more modern, stylish, and fresh, and we stayed within our original budget, spending money on the things that made a really big impact.On a day-to-day basis, we worked primarily with Stefani, who was creative, responsive, and really internalized our goals and preferences.  She made great recommendations on the design choices, always keeping in mind our desire to sell our place quickly and maximize our budget.  And on top of that, both she and Karen are lovely people who we enjoyed getting to know.One of the major benefits of going with GHC is that they have a fabulous team of vendors and contractors to deploy, and they handle a lot of the communications and logistics.  Over the years, we have worked with a number of different contractors, and the one we used for this project (at GHC's recommendation) was by far the best experience we've had.  The work ended up taking a little longer than we had hoped, but the experience was as pleasant as a reno can be (careful and respectful workers, very responsive, etc.) and the end product was totally worth it!We are happy to report that within a few weeks of listing the condo, we accepted an offer for 97% of our asking price.  We could not have done that without GHC, and we will absolutely use them again.  Highly recommend!! This review is long overdue, all the more so because I really can't say enough good things about them.  We had a very odd situation where we wanted to source the slabs for our counter-top from one company and have them fabricated by another (long story). Suffice it to say that Kaitlin and the team at Green Home went above and beyond to get the job done.  Through a couple weeks of emailing back and forth, we finally located someone that my wife and I could be confident in getting the job done and doing it for a fair price.But we couldn't be happier with the outcome of the project.  The counters are now the focal point of the kitchen! Before  we talk about the amazing results and the fun process, know that this boutique firm is owned and staffed by a small team of amazing women!  They were patient and helped us to hone our vision for our kitchen reno, and were amazing partners throughout the process.  Their design recommendations proved to be spot on, they were always respectful of our budget, were creative in finding options we liked and felt comfortable with, and were always generous with their time.  They made a stressful process fun and inspiring.  We rolled into the studio many times with 2 small kids in tow, and Karen, Kaitlin and Stef were always so kind and accommodating to our family.  When we hit a project schedule snafu due to backordered materials, they were so helpful in finding alternative solutions.  We are thrilled with the results--we just love our beautiful new kitchen-- and highly recommend Green Home Chicago. The staff at Green Home Chicago is extremely helpful and responsive. We recently moved into our home and gave our kitchen a facelift with the help of Stefani. We had specific ideas for the materials that we wanted to use for our countertops and backsplash and Stefani was happy to accommodate them and even showed us alternatives that we hadn't thought of. My sister and I stepped into Green Home Chicago hoping to create an "art piece" with our new condo.  We weren't really sure what we needed to do to accomplish this vision, but Karen and Stefanie guided us through the whole process of renovation and provided us with some insightful perspectives about designing a place.   I cannot say enough good things about Stefanie.  She is so talented and the best!  She was especially receptive to my sister's needs; my sister can be quite particular.  She went above and beyond what we would expect a designer to do.  She constantly kept in touch with our general contractor.  She visited our place to measure and to make sure everything was running smoothly.  Karen also recommended a great craftsman to build a custom-made bar top and it looks gorgeous.  What is also nice about working with GHC is that Karen supports small businesses.   We bought all of our appliances and fixtures from the small businesses that Karen recommended.  I am so happy we did.   We had a problem with the fitting of one of our toilets.  The contractor threw the box away so we were afraid we wouldn't be able to return the item.  Karen called the owner of the plumbing company and made sure we were able to exchange or get some sort of refund back.  Fortunately, it never happened since it seemed like our first contractor wasn't knowledgeable enough about Totos.We had so much fun working with them and are so happy with our new kitchen and bathroom.  As soon as we changed contractors, it really all came together.  We truly felt like we were collaborating as a team - designer, contractor (our second one), and client.   And as a bonus, they both love dogs! Karen was very knowledgeable. She spent a long time talking with us when we first came in and told her about our project. We were clueless, so it was much appreciated . We ordered Gilasi countertops for our kitchen and get complements on them. We also got a great tip on ordering remnents which saved us money. I tried to remodel my kitchen on my own.  It didn't work.  I was so tired of bringing home samples and looking at slabs I thought my brain would explode. So I changed the drill.  I went to Green Home Chicago with photos of my cabinets, back-splash, and counter-top. I told Karen I'd given up on trying to find something to go with my old, tiled back-splash, and she calmly and quickly, like a magician, pulled a few pieces together that she thought would work. Karen and team are outstanding. What started with, "we think we might want a single-slab, raw edge table," turned into a trusted partnership as we worked to design the main space of our new home. I appreciate Karen's ability to understand client needs while also inputting her expertise. She partners with quality artisans to custom-build pieces, focusing on local product and local talent. What started as the table turned into a custom-built, locally sourced table, custom chairs, and a gut-renovation and custom stone work/shelving for our fireplace. Our room went from standard to gorgeous in a matter of weeks. After spending weeks trying to find and agree to the right tile for our bathroom reno & kitchen backsplash with no luck, my husband and I decided we needed an expert's help and creative direction. That's when we found ourselves at Green Home Chicago and we were incredibly pleased with the ideas and advice Karen provided. When we found out we were pregnant in January we knew we had to complete the renovation of our kitchen and two bathrooms before the baby was born. It was also more important than ever that we use sustainable products. Green Home Chicago was the perfect solution for us. Aislinn and Stefani, the designers, came to our home to see the space first hand and take measurements. They were friendly, listened to what we wanted, and came up with creative designs for our space. We were able to stay in regular contact to bounce around ideas and tweak the designs. The showroom is amazing and it was fun to be able to see the products in person and play with different colors, textures and combinations to see what works best. Karen, the owner, was extremely helpful and took the time to really listen to what we wanted. I recently decided to upgrade my one bedroom condo. I started with Yelp (thank you Yelp) and searched interior designers and chose Green Home Chicago based on reviews.  I knew I was in the right place from our first meeting.  Karen and her team were wonderful.  They listened to my ideas and budget concerns and walked me through the process of design, contractors, timing, etc..  But the best service came when there was a mistake!  Mistakes happen - it was an installation error not due to Karen but one of her contractors who she had used for years.  Karen's response was what was impressive and what had me sign up for Yelp to write this - my first review.  Karen took full responsibility for the error and provided in record time the re-install and paid for a new sink for my inconvenience.  I work with vendors all the time in my job and this type of customer service is hard to come by.  I highly recommend Green Home Chicago.  Thank you Green Home Chicago, you're the best. Karen at Green Home is fantastic. We didn't end up using her business for our kitchen renovation project because we decided to DIY, but she was a pleasure to communicate with and their prices are very fair for the quality of work. Definitely worth checking them out as an option... you will have gained another resource for the future. Karen was super responsive and had a wealth of great ideas for our project. If we end up doing anything else in our kitchen that requires nice products, installation (or, if our self-installed breakfast bar falls apart...haha), I will be back at Green Home in a second! ps. Excellent service and very fair pricing.  They have a great selection of products and just stopping in will get your creative juices going.  In my case, I stopped by looking for a small bathroom counter top piece.  I actually thought that my request was going to be too small to be worth their time and effort but Karen never batted an eye. She made a bunch of great suggestions and was ultimately able to get me what I needed.   Sometimes when you go into places that are design oriented and you don't have the budget to afford a lot, the sales/service people figure that out quickly and basically ignore you.  That was definitely not the case with Karen!  Stop in and check this place out.  You will be glad you did. Superb Service, Sustainable Choices and Competitive Prices!  I am thrilled with the Counter-top and recycled glass back-splash tiles I purchased from Green Home Chicago.  It was a pleasure to conduct research in the beautiful Fulton Market area store that features an extensive selection of sustainable finishes and genuinely friendly people.  I fell in love with the Gilasi product, made in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood of  resin and broken oven door glass from Chicago's south side.  How great is that story?!   Walter's expert and timely installation kept our kitchen project right on schedule. Karen was also helpful in finding the specific glass tiles I had seen elsewhere and recommending (but never pushing) complimentary products like flooring and cabinets.  I highly recommend Green Home Chicago for home and office projects. I rarely do anything impulsive, but only a little more than a week before a big party in our home we decided to have new carpeting installed. Karen was terrific and brought it all together just in time, even with some last minute changes! She worked with our budget and helped us choose a product and padding that wouldn't exacerbate our allergies and her advice regarding the color pallete was spot on. In addition, she was friendly, accomodating and fun to work with. The installer, Randy, and his assistant did a flawless job - they were timely and efficient, the carpeting was laid beautifully, and they left everything the way they found it. The only unforseen issue was that the new carpet had a lower pile than the old which unfortunately necessitated a last minute touch-up to the paint just hours before 70 people arrived. Green Home Chicago was Everything I hoped for and more. As an environmentally conscience Interior Decorator, the show room was a dream come true. It is My one stop shop for everything, rather than hiking all over the city collecting samples and still not finding what I need, they have it all right there. From cork and bamboo flooring to recycled glass countertops, if you need it they'll most likely have it! Their library is extensive and they are more than happy to help you locate any sustainable material you might need for you or your client's project. Most of all it is a very relaxed atmosphere. Karen and Stefani are fun and friendly, and very knowledgable about the products as well as interior design. They are an invaluable resource to have for both materials and design advice. Love this place. Karen and her designers are wonderful to work with, and the products they carry are top-notch and thoughtfully selected. On top of that the space is just really cool to be in. We have gone to GHC for upholstery fabrics for refurbishing several vintage chairs, and also sourced a number of materials for a kitchen remodel, including amazing recycled glass composite countertops. Simply put, they carry materials and colors that I've never found anywhere else, and Karen has a great eye and creative imagination for putting things together in compelling ways. If you have not gone to Green Home Chicago, you are missing a fantastic experience.  We have worked with Karen and her team on multiple projects over the last year and could not be happier.  First, we wanted to replace an existing fireplace and the design options we received were inspiring.  We live in a brick and timber loft and the design we choose melded into our unit seamlessly with reclaimed wood for shelves and stone facing.  The process was smooth, workers were professional and considerate in cleaning up and always approached us when decisions needed to be made instead of assuming what we might want.  As a result of this first experience, we continued the relationship and worked with them again on furniture for the room and a dining area option that does not break the flow of openness in the space.  Again, the attention to detail and design ideas accomplished what we wanted without knowing exactly what we wanted.  The swivel chairs essentially created two different spaces for us - either a cozy living space by the fire and TV or a lounging area with a view to the skyline.  We love it!  The dining table option we are still working on, but know it will turn out to be just perfect for the space.  Karen and Danielle take the time to really listen to you and find out what works for your sense of space, style and lifestyle.  We will definitely go to them for all our future projects!  Stop by their store - if only just to browse - and you will find the atmosphere speaks for itself and you might develop a great relationship with some truly talented individuals that can turn your house into a home.     Amy & Stephan More...

Green Home Chicago is now my destination for all home renovation projects.  Karen was my saving grace in completing my kitchen renovation.  Cabinets were already purchased but I was not certain of the countertop.  Granite was a great choice considering cost only.  My visit to GHC and Karen's patience found my perfect match in ECO by Cosentino. The process was absolutely without any grief, an exception to all that came before.  It took less than 2 weeks from order to installation.Can't wait to come in and consult GHC and Karen for my bathroom overhaul. I have wanted to make a trip to GHC for a while and I did this weekend.  I wanted to buy their eco friendly paint.  I am tackling a big house project so I mentioned a few things on the 'things to purchase' list to Karen, the owner.  She was great at suggesting items and trying to take into account my budget.  She had amazing ideas and pointed out items I didn't even know about.  The show room is great, not huge, but that's to be expected, it's a niche industry, right now.  I haven't painted yet, so hopefully more later.  I was impressed with the wide selection of colors this paint line has, everyone should be able to find a shade they like.  I can't wait to come back!
