Q&As

The key to a great photograph is to enable my clients to be relaxed in front of the camera. I am used to dealing with people and like to put clients at their ease.
In formal situations I will always visit the venue beforehand and establish (with my clients if possible) the best locations and viewpoints. For weddings I always have a prewedding shoot when I can establish exactly what the couple want from their final images.

Aside from location and date, the style of photos required is of prime importance. Some situations require informal reportage style throughout (to provide a story) while others require a mix of these and formal, more posed shots. Even with the latter I try to vary angles and backgounds to provide variety in the images.
What format is required? I always provide digital pictures via Dropbox but back these up with DVD copies. If a client requires an album then size (A4 / A3 etc), number of shots and finish are important considerations.

Dealing with people, meeting new clients and providing them with a professional finished product. For larger tasks such as weddings I always try to complete all the editing etc within a few days of the event. I do not believe in making my clients wait weeks or months. I am selective in the jobs I bid for so that I can devote the time for completing the assignment.

I retired from teaching in 2008. I decide to turn professional to build on the experience I had gained during my teaching career. Although a scientist, I always ran photographic societies, taught photography on a more formal basis and inevitably took friends' wedding photos and captured events at schools. Inevitably I have had a wide experience of dealing with people of all ages and this has served me well as a photographer. Above all, I have a passion for photography. I rarely leave the house without a camera and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the process.

My clients receive a very professional but friendly service. I aim to ensure that the images I take will be of top quality and good value for money.
