Helped a lady today returning from hospital after an accident. She had lost her keys.We were contacted by Bournemouth hospital, who arranged for me to open her doors and sort out her keys. When I met her, the lady was old, very fragile and clearly had very little money. I felt genuinely sorry for the position she was in.I made sure that all her doors and locks were perfect. Spent 3 hrs fixing and making sure she was safe. I charged a minimal amount that I could afford.Bournemouth hospital were so flattered by our service that we have been made there go to locksmith.I’m really proud of that, but hope one day when I am stuck in a similar position that someone can do the same for me. What do you love most about your job?
As I have a huge resource of equipment to repair or replace locks, I have great confidence going into any job knowing that we will get it done properly first time.
Also experience and understanding plays a huge factor in the role as a locksmith, its not just about locks, its having an engineers understanding of how things really work and why they go wrong without having to guess.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am an Engineer by trade with an HND in engineering. I am good with my hands with a fantastic knowledge of mechanical engineering.
Locks are a very basic thing to work with, but I really enjoy it, because I am very good at it. I wanted to work from home and share my skills with the surrounding community. I gave up my careerer as a project manager for Marconi to lead a more family orientated life by working from home.
