Very accommodating, nice rooms. They were late in getting our room ready due to unforeseen circumstances, but they made up for it with a 6 pack of beer. Had a pack and play for the kiddo available. The breakfast was seriously delicious! And the pool facilities were great for after skiing. More...

My girlfriend and I drove up from CT to snowboard and stay the night. Made our whole stay in Vermont just perfect. The fireplace in the room was amazing after spending the day in the snow. Jayton greeted us pleasantly when we walked in and was so helpful with all of our questions and advising us on places we should go. Leah was great upon checkout, solidifying the fact that golden eagle will indefinitely be where we stay in Stowe when we return. More...

The room was awesome and cozy. Very spacious with bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, patio. There's a nice fireplace and wood provided but bring your own fire starters since wood is likely frozen.

Best after ski pool and hit tub deal in town! It's right on the mountain road and perfect for those staying in town who want to hop in a hot tube and do not have one at their place! We stopped by on Thankgiving day and were also very graciously treated by the hotel staff. If you are looking for a place to hot in a hot tub or pool after the day on the mountain, I would highly recommend it! More...

I haven't actually stayed here, but had a very positive experience with their customer service. We booked a stay here through some travel app that no one has heard of. We drove a couple of hours to the hotel only to find out the travel app failed to make our reservation, but successfully charged my card for the two night stay (don't ever use HotelQuickly to book anything). When we got there, they were equally as confused about the situation. Silas at the front desk was extremely helpful in talking with the sketchy travel company's customer service and finding us a room at a nearby hotel. I haven't seen any of the rooms, but would highly recommend this place based on their customer service. More...

A perfect place for a family to retreat for relaxation and fun. I love Stowe even more now that we have experienced Golden Eagle Resort and its great employees especially the guys maintaining the facility. One of the guys commented on my USA Hockey shirt and lead to a great conversation about Stowe. I got so much local knowledge to key places like a great swimming hole. Everyone there was GREAT! The Resort is going through some enhancements which will lead to a greater experience but it did not phase us. The indoor pool, outdoor pool and views, shuffleboard, tennis, bikes for guests were awesome feature and so close to bike path, close to shops/food, close to Mt Mansfield, downtown, Cafe breakfast was great. Another week or two we could of used the fireplace in the room since the night were getting a bit colder. Maybe next time!I/we loved our stay in Stowe and at Golden Eagle Resort (143). It is worth the price compared to other places we researched and WHEN we go back to Stowe, we will be staying at the Golden Eagle Resort and may even upgrade our reservation to one of the two room suites as they look fantastic! Thank you Golden Eagle Resort for a great family vacation over the last few days and look forward to getting back up there real soon! John M More...

My fiancé and stayed here this weekend (late April) and we really enjoyed it! The room was clean and spacious. I think there were maybe three other families here while we were, so it was nice and quiet. There is an indoor pool, and hot tub, sauna, game room, library and work out room, as well as an outdoor pool (which isn't open yet). This place is dog friendly which is why we decided to give it a shot! We like to bring our dog, Fenway with us everywhere we go. Our door has direct access to outside and there's lots of green spaces and wooded areas around us for him to explore. We didn't eat the food here since Stowe has so many amazing places to eat- all within walking distance of the hotel. My ONE complaint: the room was very stuffy at night- no air circulation. We opened the back window but didn't want to open the front ones since we were afraid the noise from people walking past our room would wake us. But, this may not be a problem in the summer when the AC is going or in the winter when it's frigid. April is an awkward in-between time here in New England! This place reminds me of the camp they stay at in the movie Dirty Dancing! We will definitely be back. More...

Our family of five stayed in a Fireside apartment (#140), across the street from resort.  It was very spacious.  You walk into small foyer than the kitchen, dining area, spacious living room with fireplace and sofa bed.  Upstairs are two bedrooms- one with king bed and one with two twin beds.  They were very comfortable.  The apartment was well stocked with a full refrigerator, dishwasher, and outdated stove and microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker, dish liquid, and paper towels.  The heat worked very well.  There are 1.5 bathrooms.  The bathroom upstairs has a full tub/shower combination, hairdryer.  They provided soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.  We enjoyed indoor pool, fitness center, game room with ping pong, foosball, and pool table (all across the street).  The apartment was an easy walk to a Thai restaurant (Saensook Thai Kitchen), Sushi Yoshi, and The Bench.  There was also a small market a couple of doors down.  The Stowe rec trail is behind apartments.  The GE Resort also provides snow shoes, if you want to try it.   The WiFi worked well. We would definitely stay here again. More...

My sister and I just got back from a long birthday weekend. The room was just fine. Beds were fine and bathroom was clean, it's no Hilton but was just fine. The location was great. Numerous things to do locally and central enough to visit Queechee Gorge and local stuff 1 day and tastings in Burlington the next.  The outside might have looked tired but if it was warmer we planned on wine and cheese in the gazebo by the pond. As it was we had a nice sitting area in the room with a large glass wall over looking the park like setting out back. This hotel was recommended to me and I would stay there again and recommend it to friends. Had breakfast included which was fine. More...

Stayed here for 3 nights and I definitely would stay here again.  My room was clean, modern and comfortable with a small ante room with refrigerator and closer so all my clothes were in one place.  Bathroom had nice hot shower, perfect for after skiing.  I was right across from the spa which was very convenient.  Having my car right outside my door was great too.The full breakfast was included and a short walk from my room.  Compliments to the very friendly and professional ladies in the cafe. I was camping in the area and only came here for the Colonial Cafe for a nice hot breakfast. The meals were a little pricey for breakfast (around $10 a person) but compared to other restaurants in the area ($12-$14 a person) they were relatively priced. The food was delicious and they served just enough! I had the Vermont omelet with fresh Vermont cheese and it was to die for!!!! The bacon is also cooked to perfection and their food is 100% fresh. Came here two days in a row and would definitely come back if we go camping again! More...

A fine place to stay on a week-end getaway. The rooms were generally cozy and clean. There is a "spa" building with a pool, hot tub, workout area, and massage services available. I decided to have a massage and had a therapist named Holly who was very good.Breakfast was included in our room rate. The little restaurant was a bit of a hike from our room, but truthfully, it's nice to get out and stretch your legs in the morning. Food was excellent. What left more to be desired? The vending machine had a limited selection, the brands represented on the buttons did not reflect what was inside, and the machine ran out of bottled water. The resort is a little bit off of the beaten path, so you need to take the local bus to get into town to visit the shops, liquor store, or get out to the mountain. It seems that management is changing (or recently changed) and I got a sense that the staff are not happy about some of the changes. Message to the new owners: you need to do a better job of communicating changes, how and why, and praise your staff for the work they're doing. They're working really hard, and change is difficult for most. Don't just lay down new laws, demonstrate excellence yourselves to encourage staff to follow suit. More...

More...

This place is excellent!  I only stayed for three nights and skied at Stowe during my stay.  Golden Eagle laid out the red carpet, and the free breakfast was fantastic!  Yes, it's not a luxury hotel; more of a down-home tavern atmosphere but my suite was very clean and I'm very picky about that.  Kudos to them!!  All the staff were extremely helpful and the town itself was very friendly.  Great vacation, great hotel. We recently stayed at Golden Eagle for a night and loved it. The value was unbeatable, Suzanne at the front desk allowed us to check in early, we received a free upgrade to the Matterhorn Suite, which was clean and updated, and we had a wood burning fireplace. This is a resort that is focused on things to do and the access to trails, shuffleboard game, and ability to easily walk into town were exactly what we needed. We will definitely return. More...

I love this place.  I have been coming here for about 4 years now and it's great.  The owners/workers are super polite, funny and fun.  They always have cool suggestions for things to do and see.  I have never, ever been disappointed.  They have a great "garden" area, sauna, pool and spa.  It's close to EVERYTHING.  I have probably stayed here about 30 times since I moved to the East Coast and every single time has been great.  I have brought people from all over the country for both fun and work and everyone loves it.  Plus, the great thing is, if you are a business traveler, they have great business rates if you are doing business in Stowe. My wife and I were there over the weekend. Pretty decent place if you are looking for a bargain (trust me...we've stayed at worse place in Stowe). Lots of good amenities and the property in good condition. Looks like they could use a fresh brush of paint on the exterior of the place but the room was in nice condition and clean. They gave us an upgraded room with a wonderfull view of a pond off the balcony and a gazebo close by. SWEET!We spent a lot of time at the pool with friends which was a nice clean and congenial environment. The staff was friendly and very helpful in providing us information and ways to save money on local attractions More...

It appears that the GER started life as a small roadside motel a long time ago and has slowly and organically grown over the years. There are buildings that look like retro motels and others that look like cabins in the woods. Our room was what they call a "premium guest room" and was just behind the main building. We had our own little parking area, semi-private entrance, and small porch overlooking the pond.  The room looked to have been recently updated, but the bathroom was still stuck in the 80's. Still, the room was comfortable and exceptionally quiet. Moreover, it's an easy and very pleasant walk into Stowe for morning coffee or an evening maple creemee.  For a couple days in Stowe, I'd certainly recommend the GER. More...

All we were looking for was a few days away.  After looking through a bunch of travel site, we found this place on expedia. It was a great rate for the room so we booked it.Upon arriving, we were greeted by two very nice front desk attendents.  we check in and went to our room.  We had a king size bed in a spacious room.  Private bathroom, mini fridge, tv, plenty of storage, and of course a desk.  We walked across the driveway to their SPA.  We had arranged for a massage session, and it was a great way to start off.  After the massage, we went to the pool, the hot tub, and finished in the sauna.Great service all around.  Its in a great spot, easy to get to all the little stores and resturants.  Down the street there was a great thai resturant.  Def recommend this to others.  We are totally gonna stay there again More...

The Golden Eagle Resort is a great spot for a few nights in Stowe.Great location and close to all types of restaurants and shops and Shaw's.  The road leads right up to the mountain as well.Park right in front of your room and its like walking into your house.  I like that its not part of a long hallways like hotels.  This resort feels like home away from home.Room is a good size.  The closet is in the bathroom area, there is a door that separate its from the toilet and shower.  The room where the toilet and shower is has a heat lamp that is awesome!  I used it when I was showering.  Loved the glow of the red light. They have dispensers on the wall where your soap and shampoo is.  I did not like the shampoo, they provided.  It didn't lather well and left my hair feeling greasy.  Luckily, I always have travel size ones in my toiletry bag.  But I do like how this saves the resorts from having to dish out tiny bottles of shampoos for guests. There is also hand soap and lotion dispensers as well.Towels that needed to be replaced were asked to be left in the tub, I left 2 towels hanging up on the door hook to be reused but they got replaced anyway.TV has all the channels you need to keep up with current events.  You can also rents dvd players for $6/night and they have dvds you can take out for free.Beds were comfy. The spa is in the building right across the driveway and it offers massages, indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, game room, and library room. The spa offers free lockers and towels for you to use.The spa is very relaxing and on this particular day, it was nice being in the hot tub watching the snow fall outside. The game room has a ping pong table, pool, sir hockey, foosball table, and other arcade games. All are coin operated except the ping pong table and foosball table.  But ask if they are in working order since we were told, the games were eating up peoples monies. The library area has a tv and many books for you to borrow on the honor system. From 3pm - 6pm, the lobby area offers cookie and tea.Overall, a really nice place to stay , great trails around and places to eat.  You almost don't need to use you car! Stayed for 2nd year in a row. Booked the trip through AAA drive vacations packages, and it really is totally worth it. Right close to downtown but really in the middle of everything. It is a little dated but you have to expect that for the short money it costs to stay there. Motel style lodging but you have a little porch or balcony with seating (great for an evening cigar). Staff cleaned the wrong room so check-in was delayed, they gave us a different room but the fridge was unplugged, short the chocolate/cheese gift package. The breakfasts are great that were included in our stay for the $0. 2 years in a row breakfast was impressive and efficient even though the small dining room was packed. Will return. More...

Stayed here for one night so I didn't get to experience the food.  However, this place seems very family-friendly.  Conveniently located near the Ben & Jerry Factory (which offers a tour for $3) and the resort seems to have activities for families to do.  The room was pretty decently sized, clean but very traditionally styled.  I would return back for a longer stay if ever in the area. Great place to stay to ski at Stowe. My husband, daughter and I spent 3 nights at the hotel. They upgraded us for free to a room with a fireplace. Room was spacious  and clean. Had a small kitchen with everything you need.  Only weird thing was the very old hair dryer (byo if u have a lot of hair)!  The pool was fun and warm too. My 2 year old had a great time. The gym was not state of the art like they said.  It probably was back in the 90's.  Looks like a fun place to stay in the summer too. They have outdoor pools and a fun playground (we tried it out in the snow).  The staff was very nice too. Price was great. We will be going back. More...

I have been coming to the Golden Eagle for many, many years and I have always had a great experience.  This particular weekend, we chose a room with a fireplace, which had a queen size bed, a couch, coffee table, desk and chair, wardrobe with TV, and a deck (though it was too cold to sit out on).  There was also a mini fridge and coffee maker.  The room was spacious enough for the two of us, very clean, and quite comfortable.  The bathroom in this particular wing of the resort (previously the old Alpine Lodge) was a bit small, but had plenty of towels and was clean.  I've personally stayed in rooms all over the resort, from the basic King bed rooms to suites to the apartments and even the cabin, and all the rooms were very comfortable.  Service and interaction with the staff was pleasant. The Golden Eagle has one of the best locations in Stowe.  Right on Mountain Road, the resort is within walking distance of Stowe Village, not to mention nearby restaurants such as McCarthy's and Mr. Pickwick's, and even the Stowe Cinema.  Everything else is a short drive away.  The sprawling resort has a wide variety of rooms to accommodate any group size.  They have recently done over the area around the outdoor pool, and moved the tiny lobby basement arcade into a bigger room on the second floor of the pool house, with ping pong and pool tables, pinball, and a mix of arcade games.  The pool house has an indoor pool, hot tub, and a small gym.  There are also meeting rooms for companies looking to hold conferences here.On top of all that, the rooms are relatively inexpensive, making it a great value.  I readily recommend the Golden Eagle to anyone visiting Stowe! My husband and I got a room here for one night in early October (leaf peeping season). I liked the proximity to the town of Stowe, a quaint New England town.  The room and bathroom were pretty dated, to about early 80's with the hair dryer and all (although i was thankful there was one).  It was clean.  The room was pretty large with a table and a desk which four of us sat and had cheese and wine.  I believe we stayed in building 15. It was quiet, private and comfortable, moderately priced and had a back door and patio with seating which had a large clearing/wildlife area and the many trail heads on the property started there.  The trails were really nice and remote although some were not marked great.  If you hike the Mt Tom trail, there is a ski lift chair on the tree to enjoy the view. We used the Golden Eagle for accomodatons for our guests, as well as our rehearsal "dinner". Their hospitality was overwhelming and the facility was georgeous. This place is a toss up between 3-4 stars. The location is great close to everything between the mountain & the Village. The staff is always super friendly. Our room was one of the newest in the Terrace Wing. We had a 2 Queen suite with a whirlpool tub. It was very cozy & extremely clean. Would definitely stay again. Very comfortable & reasonable rates. There is a game room, hot tea & coffee available in the lobby. They also have snowshoes & other outdoor equipment available for the guests. They have a indoor pool, sauna, & hot tub but we didn't use any of the facilities. We didn't try the restaurant so I can't comment on dining. Also, mentioned that it's between 3 & 4 stars because some of the rooms are in dire need of updating. If you are picky about your accommodations you should request one of the newer rooms. More...
