Have visited here twice now. Both times we have had a nice time, staff pleasant and helpful, but unfortunately the food was not quite as good on the second visit. Also, waiting time for the food was too long and the food was cold on the plate by the time we had finished it. As mentioned in other reviews, there is an obligatory 12.5% service charge, which the menu said was paid to the staff. It would be better if the staff were paid a proper wage and a tip was optional dependant on quality of service and food. More...

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, my daughter bought me an 8 course tasting menu for my birthday, we used it just after our 10th anniversary. My wife is vegetarian the chef came up with an alternative menu, I will say i didn't realize we both had to have same menu but the restaurant manager asked the chef if i could have the non vegetarian menu which they obliged without any problem. I had the wine flight with my meal which I had never really heard of (its where the bar manager has paired each course with a different wine) this was awesome and really made a difference to the tastes. We had decided to book a room and weren't disappointed, so comfortable, the owner Pieter was so welcoming and so interesting to chat to, ask to look at the book of the refurbishment of Glazebrook, absolutely loved the experience. We have just returned from a nights stay at the Glazebrook. Well done to the owners for transforming what was a very tired basic hotel into a fabulous, funky and classy small boutique hotel! The photo book of before and after the renovation in reception is well worth a look. We stayed on a Sunday night whilst travelling through and found all the staff to be very attentive and cheerful. Fabulous food and cocktails. Special mention for Becky, a new member of staff, she was incredibly kind and helpful, you can have the greatest hotel in the world but without the right customer service it falls short. Fear not though this hotel achieves both! More...

On our first trip to the UK two years ago, I made very fond memories at a high tea, which was my first experience. On our recent trip back in September, attending another high tea was on my list of things to do and friends of ours selected Glazebrook House. Let me tell you - the experience you get here is so much more than dining. We had made an error in our reservation, and despite being a bit busy, the team was gracious and understanding. They allowed us to wait in the lounge while they set a table for us. Very friendly and accommodating! The laid table was beautiful - as was the decor in the remainder of the main floor. It really feels like a special occasion! The food - there are not enough words to describe the exceptional quality and variety of the items on the table. My favourites were the passionfruit curd tart (which I have been painstakingly trying to recreate since returning home to Canada) and the eclair (or profiterole). Their pastry cream was rich and creamy, and the choux was firm but so light. It is a delicate balance! Step outside after a bite to eat and explore the beautifully manicured grounds with stunning colours. You can tell that the property is managed with pride. It was like stepping into a storybook. We had such a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. More...

Well done.||The owner and staff were exceptional and I could not praise the level of professionalism experienced.||Moreover, the food was exquisite with an impressive array of drinks on offer.||If you fancy a bit of a treat in comfortable and friendly surroundings then this hotel is a must of a hidden gem. We had a fabulous meal at Glazebrook House last night. They do know their gins really well so I always tell them to surprise me and the local 1535 they served me with a twist of lemon and sprig of thyme was a lovely surprising drink, fresh and herby. The amuse bouche was tender and very tasty, sourdough bread with whipped butter -beautiful- followed by the crab ravioli and my husband had the local scallops (which I absolutely recommend). My husband had the battered cod and triple cooked chips (unadventurously!) -very good, but I had the pricier hake which was really beautifully cooked and very well seasoned. Gorgeous flavours. Chocolate fondant to follow. The ambience is wonderful, and the staff attentive and friendly. A really nice way to spend the evening. We didn't stay the night as we are very local so have given it top scores as a hotel in lieu of the restaurant. More...

My friend and I stayed at Glazebrook House in late July while on a southern England road trip. We were very warmly received by the staff and especially by Peter the owner upon our arrival. The level of service never waned over the 2 nights we stayed there, with ample suggestions of what to do in the region. The location is ideal for south Devon exploring. The Inn itself is exquisite and playful and I think my bed was the most comfortable I EVER slept in (we had the TweedleDees room). Many added touches everywhere. Beautiful grounds and a lovely lounge and restaurant with lovely food. My favourite part of the entire stay was our tour of the garden by Peter, and discovery of the secret fern walk.
