We had the pleasure of working with Sarah Driscoll for our National Meeting in La Jolla in July 2019.  She was absolutely outstanding, being my "eyes and ears" while I did all of the planning from the East Coast.  She has the most professional demeanor and can-do attitude.  The food was outstanding and met the needs of the many dietary restrictions that our guests had.  She worked tirelessly throughout the day, giving of herself well beyond the scope of her job.  She interacted with the guests and answered all of their questions with a smile.  Sarah is truly a consummate professional and she served a variety of delicious, fresh and healthy foods in a lovely presentation.  The support and delivery staff was outstanding as well.  I highly recommend Giuseppe and if you are fortunate to work with Sarah, you won't be disappointed. We are enjoying a dinner party catered by Giuseppe this evening. It's a 10! Soup is a 10. Salad is a 10.Entree is a 10. Cheese and dessert is a 12. Instead of slaving away in the kitchen on a holiday, we decided to order food through GFC for Christmas Eve dinner. We had 18 people for dinner, so we ordered three lasagnas - two veggie and one meat - a few appetizers and side dishes. What a great decision! Not only was the pickup seamless, but the food was incredible! We had enough food for everyone, including leftovers for the next three days. I had a last minute event with big paying clients that I needed a caterer. I was stressing out on it and then I came across Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering. Firstly, I will say that they the were amazing to take me last minute since our previous caterer had fallen through.Secondly, they gave me a great rate and amazing menu. EVERY SINGLE PERSON (13 total) were in love with the food and ALL went back for seconds. Third, Melissa, the server we hand on hand went above and beyond by chatting with the guests and making sure they were "pampered" by the way she served them. Giuseppe's made our Wedding (my daughters) last Sunday the best day ever. What they did for us was BEYOND. From the organizing, set up, hosting, clean up, beginning to end - they kept my stress level at an all time low which has never happened while having a party. My friends and family have been commenting about how kind and attentive the staff was and how taken care of they felt. David was completely amazing in his organization and cheerful demeanor. No one at any time made me feel like I was asking too much, but made me feel they were happy to oblige. The bartender was super great, fun and professional. And the food! Everyone is still talking about how wonderful the food was. The presentation of every dish was absolutely beautiful. we just got married at scripps seaside forum and guiseppe is the company we had to use for our bar.  at first i was disappointed at the lack of choices, but this ended up being a good thing, as guiseppe did a fabulous job at our wedding!  i couldn't be happier and erin was such a pleasure to work with.  she got back to me so quickly with the many questions i had.  when i was going back and forth between packages, she was so patient, and i really appreciate being able to work with someone so professional and understanding.  when i was having a hard time finding the wines to taste so i could choose my favorites, she went above and beyond to help me find them (tip - most of them are at ralphs and they are all at caroline's seaside cafe) and give me some options of tasting them at their cafe.  what a great experience!they have many packages available, anything to fit your needs and your budget.  there is even an option to bring your own alcohol if you want!  we decided to have them provide all the alcohol and we also added in a specialty cocktail.  erin was really creative and we ended up choosing the hibiscus mai tai which was so popular.  it tasted fresh, not artificial, and very refreshing.  perfect for a beach wedding!the bartender was so friendly and did a great job.  we were really happy as were our guests.  thanks erin for all your help! Guiseppe Fine Catering (GFC) did a fantastic job at my wedding at the Scripps Seaside Forum!The tail end of our planning was tough because we started working with a new coordinator, Tahnie, at GFC (since Morgan left). Although there were some challenges getting her and their accounting department up-to-speed with our balance, their level of service all around was impeccable, especially when it counted most.My wedding was almost a week ago, and some of my guests are still raving about their hors d'oeuvre selection of ceviche cups, beef sliders, crab cakes and jumbo shrimp. And dinner was delightful too!One of the reasons my wedding was so special was because of GFC. They were respectful and attentive to our needs and accommodated all of my last minute requests for guests with dietary restrictions. I also appreciate Tahnie diving into our wedding on such short notice and taking charge to help make the event run smoothly. It was honestly the best decision to choose Giuseppe Fine Catering for our wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum. We used their team for the catering and bar at our celebration. I shopped around initially but after speaking with Tahnie (Catering Manager) I knew that Giuseppe was for us! I knew I wanted stations versus a plated meal or buffet for dinner. Tahnie walked me through the options and made sure I felt comfortable with the food. She was so patient answering my questions and going through several revisions of the menu before we were set. She worked closely with Chef Rashi to make sure the menu was balanced and it was the flavors we wanted. I also wanted to make sure that no one left the wedding hungry and offered an extra appetizer station during cocktail hour and late night tray passed sliders at the end of the night. Tahnie offered professional guidance and honest answers to make sure that the catering offered to the guests turned out successful. The tasting in their La Jolla show room was a great experience. There was no pressure, in a very comfortable setting and we even got to speak to Chef Rashi at the end of the meal. He was our Chef the day of our wedding. It was neat to meet him ahead of time and introduce ourselves. He was very personable and wanted to make sure that we were genuinely happy with the meals. The food the day of the wedding was the exact same fantastic food we ate at the tasting! The guests loved the unique flavors and said they even went back for multiple plates at the food stations. I worked with Erin who helped me coordinate the bar at our wedding! I loved working with her; she answered all of my questions promptly and had such a positive personality to go with her professionalism. Coordinating and making changes were easy with her and her team. I had great confidence the entire time working with the Giuseppe team. Giuseppe and his team catered a 40 person dinner for my wife's birthday.  We decided on a menu that presented challenges due the size of the party and the requirements of the food prep.  Giuseppe handled it like a true professional.  The servers were professional and non-intrusive.  The signature cocktails were prepared perfectly.  The entire guest list commented on what an amazing dinner they created. Our native Italian family loved it. Besides not having to cook or clean the food, lasagna and meatballs, was delicious. Gisueppe's recently catered our 200 person wedding at the Scripps Seaside Forum. They were an absolute dream to work with. Our tasting was done in their downtown restaurant and they came so prepared with delicious options customized for us. They were so conscious of our budget and helped us come up with options that fit within it. Morgan Oaks gets a shout out for being super helpful throughout the entire process. Day of execution was flawless, and their bar and catering service level was noticed by all guests. They even had a server dedicated to us as bride and groom so we never had to worry and actually got to eat some of our food! I highly recommend this company for a dining experience for your guests. We used Giuseppe's for catering our wedding this past weekend.  First, Morgan deserves 11 stars out of 5 for amazing amazing customer service.  She is a total gem.  For the food, we tasted with a few different companies and chose Giuseppe's because the hors d'oevres were the best and the food at our tastings was equal or better than the competition.  They were more expensive than the competition by a couple thousand dollars, though, mainly because rentals of basic things like equipment, silverware and plates was not included.  On the night of the wedding the hors d'oevres were still excellent, but the dinner plates themselves were not quite as good as at our tasting.  In the end, I think we expected it.  It must be really hard to prepare and serve perfect dinners for over almost 120 guests.  I don't regret our decision to go with Giuseppe.  They were still great to work with, and I think all wedding caterers have the same issue when serving to a large crowd.  I thought the hors d'oevres were BEAUTIFULLY presented and a league above the competition, which made it all worth it. I went with Giuseppe's for my wedding and WOW, I am so happy I did. The food was amazing, the planning was painless, and the execution was flawless. Morgan helped with the planning/ordering and she was amazing. She gave great suggestions and I went with every single one (which I normally don't do). She made everything just so easy, I couldn't believe it. Chef Rashi went above and beyond with creating a special dessert for me and even sent flowers! Giuseppe's did an amazing job catering our rehearsal dinner before our wedding. Morgan was our contact through the whole process and she was super helpful and responsive with any questions we had setting the catering up. We had a large group coming so we ended up picking their Italian menu, and it was seriously some of the most delicious food I've had catered! Their pastas, chicken and appetizers were so good - especially the meatballs and arancini. All of our guests complimented us on how amazing the food was, as well as how organized and professional the staff was.The pricing was very affordable for what we were looking for also, and we'd highly recommend Giuseppe's for any catering needs! I recently attended an event that was catered by Giuseppe- I wasn't involved in the pre-planning, budgeting, or logistics, but what I can tell you is that the food was off-the-hook good!  I don't think I ever went out of my way to find out who the caterer was before, but this was an appetizer and hors d'oeuvre spread like I've seldom seen anywhere.  It was all delicious (I know, because I tried a bit of everything) and left me feeling very happy that:1.  I had been invited to this event;2. My wife and I recently got married at Scripps Seaside Forum and it was the most amazing day of our lives thanks to Guiseppe and his catering team. From the initial taste testing of the food, to the logistics, to the day of the wedding, we felt like we were truly cared about and the small changes we wanted to make here and there were met with open ears and open arms. One of the most important things we wanted at our wedding was food that didn't taste like your traditional wedding buffet food. We wanted food people would remember and be talking about well after our wedding and Guiseppe's delivered big time. Between the Sea Bass, Braised Short Rib, Mushroom Ravioli, Crab Cakes, Truffle Grilled Cheese, and perfectly cooked Lamp chops, the food menu taste and presentation was on another level. Now that I'm done salivating over thinking about the food again, let's move onto the wait staff. The first impression of the service at our wedding began with one of the catering members, Sean, coming up to me and saying, 'Anything you or the bride need throughout the night, I'm your guy'. He wasn't kidding. Between getting ready before the ceremony to taking photographs during cocktail hour Sean was always right there with a full tray of appetizers and two cocktails for my bride and I. Most couples don't get to eat their appetizers during the cocktail hour but Sean made sure we didn't go hungry or thirsty leading all the way up to dinner.Upon the start of dinner the catering staff made sure we both had our meals first and the food came out right after we were seated. We were then blown away by the service they provided to the rest of our guests. Every table was served at the exact same time and the plates put down in the front of the guests in perfect unison that it was if they had practiced their plating technique together. It was like something out of a movie. Our guests were  blown away by the presentation, style, and professionalism the catering staff provided and they couldn't stop talking about how amazing the catering staff was the entire night. Not only did the catering staff exceed expectations, the bar staff made sure everyone got their drinks promptly and were extremely friendly with all of our guests. With an open bar sometimes things can get hectic, but the bartenders knew their stuff and handled the entire night with ease and class. If you are looking for a catering company that has 5 star quality food and the catering staff to match, Guiseppe and his team are the right choice for you. Thanks again Guiseppe. When having a wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum, you have to use Giuseppe for bar service, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They are a little pricey as far as paying people to serve alcohol for your guests go, but since it's the law, we paid the price ($2,061 .98 for the Basic Bar Setup with 2 bartenders for 6 hours).The Basic Bar Setup provides no alcohol, so we bought everything that we though we needed, and may have over bought a little bit. So, for brides/grooms to be - note that 20 cases of beer, 9 cases of wine, 3 cases of champagne, 2 cases of sparkling cider, and 30 bottles of soda is enough drinks to serve over 300 people for 6 hours, not 124.As far as the bartenders go, they were super nice and I found my very own HIMYM Linus (shoutout to JB!) who made sure my glass was full when I wanted it full and saved at the bar when I wanted it saved. All of the glassware provided at the bar is plastic, so you can rent glassware from your rental company at $1.50 per glass or you can buy them at Bed Bath and Beyond for $0.73 per glass (with 20% coupon). Speaking of which, I have a ton of glassware leftover - does anyone want to buy some from me? :PI'm not sure I would choose them if I had to choose my own bartenders, but KJ was very easy to work with and all of the staff at my wedding was extremely friendly.EDIT: I almost forgot to mention that they had people walking around during happy hour with pre-filled glasses of wine, which was awesome! :) More...

The food on our wedding day was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. We tasted with Giuseppe a year prior to our wedding, and ever since then I was dreaming about eating our meal on our wedding day, and it honestly lived up to the hype I created in my mind. And I know I'm not just a glutton, because my husband and I both received numerous compliments about the food that night:"Those mashed potatoes though!!!""I wish I could stuff these raviolis in my purse!!!""Best wedding food EVER!"Needless to say, we and our guests were all highly satisfied with our dining experience. Giuseppe and his staff excitedly granted our request to serve the meal family style, which really encouraged sharing and conversing over the delicious food. I would also like to add that the service staff was exceptional. They were prompt, attentive, and responded to every request, big or small, with, "We can make that happen."The food was FANTASTIC. I only regret that I did not get to eat MORE of the food that night, although I made sure to shovel in some scoops of mashed potatoes and braised short ribs.There were so many details that made our wedding day memorable, and the catering was definitely one of them. We recently had our wedding at the Scripps Birch Aquarium in La Jolla and chose Giuseppe's Fine Catering from the list of preferred vendors. From the first meeting we were treated like VIP's.  Everything from the initial menu discussions through planning, tasting and the big event went so smoothly and the food was amazing.  Morgan worked with us and was able to assist with securing the rentals from Classic, which took a major load off.  She is extremely professional and didn't hesitate to meet with us or follow up on questions.  When you plan an event as big as a wedding, having responsive vendors makes all the difference and this team did an amazing job.  Thank you Morgan!We chose to have long tables rather than round tables and that lead us towards family style dining which our guests raved about.  With just over 100 people It's the perfect compromise between a plated dinner and a buffet as guests can serve themselves without leaving the table.  The portions are plentiful and the food is amazing.  Brazed Beef, Pan Seared Sea bass, Spinach & Ricotta Raviolis, Truffled Cauliflower Puree, Buffalo Mozzarella Salad with Roasted Corn, Jumbo Asparagus - everything was cooked perfectly and served perfectly. Passing food at the table gives people a good feeling and encourages those who have never met to have a discussion - family style. I DJed a wedding last night at Birch Aquarium that Guiseppi's catered. I am rarely impressed with wedding caterers, but Guiseppe's really stood out. Not only was everyone on their staff super friendly, but the food was amazing. Typically, wedding vendors are treated like pariah by caterers. I typically get served my meal right after dinner--when, duh, I'm my most busy of the night trying to get the dance floor going. I end up scarfing my cold food as they are busing tables. Well, the staff at Guiseppe was awesome enough not only to prep a special vegetarian meal for me, but also to have it ready during the cocktail hour--when I'm not busy + actually have time to eat it hot!!! Also, because of this I was able to tell guests how amazing the food was as I announced that dinner would be served since I had already eaten. We used Giuseppes Catering for our son's rehearsal dinner. Everything was amazing!  The planning and  organization with Giuseppe and Morgan was flawless.  I felt completely comfortable all the way up to the day of the event and on the day when i would normally be really nervous they made everything work like clockwork!  David was our catering manager and was great!  The bartenders were fantastic. The servers perfect and the food absolutely spectacular!  It was a sit down dinner for 70 run like clockwork and delicious!  I thoroughly enjoyed  my own party thanks to Giuseppe and his crew!  Would use them over and over again!!!  Thank you Giuseppe!!!We love all his restaurants too: Museum cafe is a weekly lunch spot for my girlfriends and I, Carolines is fantastic and Bottega Americano is wonderful!!!! I have worked with caterers all over the country for events large and small. Giuseppe and his staff provided the best service and food I have ever experienced. After the event, I had 3 guests rave that if they had one last meal on earth, it would be Giuseppe's mushroom and goat cheese ravioli!  Working remotely isn't always easy, especially with a 3 hour time difference, but Matt was always responsive and helped bring the client's vision to life. When we arrived to the venue, Giuseppe's staff were all extremely friendly and professional. They take their job's seriously by making sure every detail is triple checked. I wish I could use Giuseppe for all my catering events throughout the country! If you are considering hosting an event in the San Diego area, don't even waste your time with other catering options! I went to the Museum of Contemporary Art today and after enjoying the new exhibit a friend and I decided to just eat at the adjacent cafe. We were not expecting much as we had been there a number of times before. However, they are under new management and our entire experience exceeded our expectations. The food, I had the avacado smash, all reasonably priced was fresh and healthy. However unlike the previous times the service was steller. We had a long talk with the new manager Garret and he was pleasent and friendly. Then throughout our meal our female server was cordial but not to the point of being a bother. Just had my daughters wedding catered by Giuseppe and am absolutely at a loss for words at how delicious the food was and superb the service was. I have been to many functions in my life and am fairly used to the food being institutional like in taste. This was absolutely not the case here. I have had more positive feedback on the food at the function than I could possibly have expected. A few months ago we went for our tasting to choose the final menu. We were treated like VIP's every step of the way and served food that can only be classified as deliciously gourmet.I was a little concerned as to whether the food prepared for 200+ people was going to taste anything like for 4. This was totally needless concern - if anything the food was even better, if that is possible.I don't think I saw a single plate removed from any table that was not licked clean and this certainly does not indicate too small portions. The portions were huge and the taste which can only be described as orgasmic. In addition to that the creativity in the presentation of the food as well as the appetizers served during the cocktail hour were what you would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant.Thank you Giuseppe - you are my hero!! We love Giuseppe's!! Giuseppe catered our Valentine's Day wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum and they were honestly the best catering staff I've ever worked with. Morgan was our point of contact and she was so professional and responsive but also very personable. The food that Giuseppe prepared for our tastings were amazing. After that, we knew we had to go with them for our wedding. During the wedding, my husband and I got to walk over to a few tables and I saw the food (we had family style) was all gone! And the staff were so on point through the whole night. Very attentive and accommodating. The bartenders were just as amazing.  Again so professional, attentive and accommodating. My husband and I used Giuseppe's "Pronto" (prepared food for pickup) service for Thanksgiving dinner for a small (5 people) family party. The ordering process by phone was easy and It was obvious that Shannon who took my order was really focused. The pickup at the Museum Cafe in La Jolla was streamlined, and our order was checked carefully for accuracy, which was impressive because there were a lot of people picking up orders. Everything was very well-labelled and well packaged. The oven-ready turkey breast roast was fabulous. The moistest and tastiest turkey breast ever! The gravy and pumpkin pie, also were fabulous and loved by everyone.We have enjoyed eating at the Museum Cafe for several years because of the consistent high quality and careful, healthy preparation . When we realized we would not have time to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner ourselves, we were optimistic that Giuseppe could provide something that would make us look good as hosts, and it really did! The Pronto service made it easy to order just the parts of the menu we wanted (we could have gotten all parts of the menu, but we wanted to do some family favorites ourselves.) Giuseppe has some of the best catering staff I've ever worked with! Morgan was personable, responsive, and an all-around pleasure to coordinate with. David was our Lead Driver for the evening and ran everything beautifully. *applause*Aside from making sure my valet attendants had water and my sound technician got a plateful of goodies at the end of the night, the staff packed all leftovers in containers they came prepared with and put them in the fridge. I was so impressed by these small details. Giuseppe catered our wedding recently at Scripps Seaside Forum and we couldn't be happier! First, the food... we have heard over and over again how great the food was! People loved it! We had tray passed teasers of shrimp, mini hot dogs, cherry tomato "bon bons" and grilled cheese sandwiches. Everything was fantastic. Our dinner stations were a salad, street taco and flatbread pizza, with a coffee and cakepop/cupcake station for dessert. Everything was delicious. Next, the staff... WOW! You don't often hear from guests about how nice the servers were at your wedding. This team went above and beyond. They were considerate enough to bring us (the bride and groom) food to make sure we ate :) Also, I think I have the pleasure of being the first to review Giuseppe since Morgan started in March... she is a GEM. So great to work with and such a sweetheart. I emailed her about a guest with food allergies and she was so accommodating - she even notified David, the Catering Director, who also went above and beyond by asking to be introduced to our guest so that he knew she was taken care of. Giuseppe's team is top notch. And, of course, the bar... such a great team. Everyone loved our bartenders and they were fun and flexible. There are not enough words to convey how amazing and delicious the food is and how thorough, professional, dedicated, exceptionally personable and overall great Giuseppe and his team are.  Giuseppe catered our wedding this past April and not only were we ecstatic but our guests seem to be too!  We have received nothing but raving reviews.  I am still receiving text messages from friends with photos of our food and exclamations of how delicious it was.  That being said, I hope you find this lengthy affirmation helpful and informative.My husband and I are what our friends and family like to call "foodies".  We believe that a meal should be an experience. That each dish should have great quality food and flavors and conjure up a feeling of excitement.  For our wedding, it was important to us to showcase our love of food and the passion we have for it.  Giuseppe and his team went above and beyond our expectations to make this happen.Giuseppe's team was extraordinary through the entire planning process.  From my first initial correspondence to the hundreds after, I couldn't feel more at ease with a wedding vendor.  When we first started the catering inquiry we were working with Jessica but during the planning process she moved on and we started working with Meghan.  This is the part where some brides might freak out but due to the professionalism of the team, we didn't notice the transition.  It was THAT smooth.  Both of these women are phenomenal and it is a testament to this great team that their communication, dedication to customer service and delivering the best quality in everything they do came through.  Meghan came in, picked up right where Jess left off and became the shining star of our experience with Giuseppe. I could not be more grateful.We decided on an "around the world" stations menu. My husband and I wanted to showcase some of the favorites from our cultural backgrounds, and Giuseppe was the perfect person to create and execute our wedding menu.  We started with five hors d'oeuvres that consisted of spring pea risotto & cured chorizo "Arancini", American Kobe Beef Carpaccio, Tuna Tartare in wonton cones, Giuseppe's signature grilled cheese (this was to die for) and Picadillo inspired lamb meatballs on lollipop sticks.  People couldn't get enough of these tasty teasers. Dinner was even more exceptional.  We started with a sit-down salad course of heirloom tomatoes and di Stefano burrata.  The best compliment we received about this dish was "it will change your life."  We couldn't agree more.  Our first station was from Italy, we served ricotta and spinach filled ravioli two ways.  One sauce was a light tomato-basil marinara and the other a beautiful preserved lemon-vodka veloute'.  Our second station, hailing from Mediterranean cuisine consisted of chicken braised in artichoke hearts, capers, meyer lemon, caramelized shallot and wine-pan juice served over a goat cheese and chives polenta cake.  Our third station, from our good 'ole American roots highlighted beef short ribs served with a Zinfandel Demi-Glace, farmer's market baby root vegetable brunoise and roasted garlic & parmesan Yukon gold mashed potatoes.  To accompany all of the dishes we served an array of market fresh grilled vegetables.Is your mouth watering yet?We even received inquiries on when, where, how from our guests and how they could buy the coffee Giuseppe served at the wedding!  How many people do you know have been asked about the coffee at their wedding?!?!  Even from non-coffee drinkers!Now, this all might sound like it falls in the more expensive price range, but let me assure you, Giuseppe will work with any budget.  He is dedicated to serving the best food and his commitment to making a memorable experience is one to be admired.  He is committed to providing his clientele with the best food and service, and seems to accommodate all who want to work with him and appreciate his passion for dining.  Last thoughts, one of my favorite things about having Giuseppe as a caterer is that we have the ability to relive one of the best days of our lives by going to one of his many restaurants.  I am very nostalgic and just the thought of having a meal at Giuseppe's puts a smile on my face.   There are not many caterers you can say this about, and I think that makes him extra special. Giuseppe catered our wedding right before Christmas and we only heard raving compliments. To start, Giuseppe customized our menu to meet my Italian-Mexican's family needs and it was amazing! Let's just put it this way, my family lives to eat, so finding a caterer who could handle them was a number one priority! HIghlights from our guest include that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding!We had: Signature Pecan Salad, Kabocha Butternut Squash Filled Ravioli, Roasted Fall Root Vegetables, and the hit of the evening was the Slow & Low Braised Natural Beef 24 Hours Braised with Red Wine and Natural Juices, served with a Pomegranate Demi Glaze along with the delicious Truffle Yukon Mashed Potatoes. My husband and I got married in December 2011 and we used Guiseppe for our catering.  We simply could not be more pleased with the service and quality of our experience! Guiseppe, Jessica and their entire team were the most professional people we worked with in our entire planning process.  They were always incredibly kind and thoughtful, going above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with our experience from the first consultation through the tasting, the wedding and even after.The food was outstanding and the presentation was beautiful--we are still getting compliments on it!  In order to create the personalized menu, Guiseppe took the time to get to know us as a couple and asked about our families, backgrounds and tastes in order to be sure that the menu would be a true reflection of us, our guests, and the event itself.  It ended up being absolutely perfect, and though he was more than accommodating when offering to change anything we wanted to, we didn't want to change a thing.  He did a perfect job.Jessica was fabulous, too, and always made me feel at ease.  When there were last minute questions at our final walkthrough, Jessica stepped in to take care of details that no one else (not even our wedding planner) seemed to be taking care of.  She was professional and calm and made me feel completely taken care of.  We would recommend this company without any hesitation!  Absolutely a five-star experience from start to finish! Giuseppe catered our daughter's wedding and the entire experience was a delight (and delicious).  The tastings were generous and when we could not decide on a few things, they had us come back and fed us more incredible options. At the wedding, we were repeatedly told "This is not wedding food!  I feel  like I'm eating at a fine restaurant". Several months later, people still comment on the food.  Planning a wedding can be fraught with so many details and it was wonderful to know that Jessica and Giuseppe and the staff were taking care of us.(And, a meal at the Museum Cafe is always a treat.) I have never yelped any business before, but I have to rave about the fabulous job that Giuseppe and his staff did for my daughter's wedding last week at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park. Our family has been long-time patrons of Giuseppe's cafe in La Jolla, so we knew that the food would be delicious. What we did not know was how helpful he and his catering manger Jessica would be in helping us conceptualize the entire event and how efficient they would be in executing the plan. We decided on a Latin American theme to go with the Spanish Colonial architecture of the surroundings as well as our particular tastes in food. Giuseppe developed a menu that moved from appetizers in his cafe adjoining the sculpture garden, to a taco bar (with the best guacamole anyone ever tasted!) with staff serving ceviche in oversized acrylic spoons to the more formal reception inside the museum. Because our daughter and her husband had recently moved back to California from Philadelphia, he created a tiny philly cheesesteak as an homage to that city. The moment after the ceremony was over his staff came bearing appetizers and pom margaritas for the wedding party as we waited to get the formal pictures done.Inside the Museum he set up three food stations. Downstairs was a tapas station with serrano ham, a variety of spanish cheeses and olives, grilled vegetables and an artichoke souffle. Upstairs were two stations (one manned by Giuseppe himself!) one with his famous braised short ribs over purple peruvian mashed potatoes with truffle oil. The other station had succulent chicken kabobs over pearl couscous. Everything was so delicious - I get hungry again just recounting the meal.But the piece de resistance was the churros dish. I personally saw people scarfing down 4 or 5 at a time. They were the warmest, freshest most delicious churros I have every eaten. And I'm from El Paso, Texas - home to what I consider the best Mexican food in the United States.Everyone raved about the food and I am still hearing from guests a week later. The best part was that the service was so smooth and so unobtrusive that we felt like guests at our own party. We wanted a unique and memorable wedding day, which I am sure is something everyone strives for. If you have tried to go against the grain before you know that sometimes vendors who do weddings and other large events all the time often like to push back on out of the box ideas. Jessica and Giuseppe are the opposite! Giusseppe wanted the menu to perfectly reflect my husband and I as people and please our families' traditions. Jessica helped us come up with creative ways to have our cocktail hour dinner stations and doughnuts and milkshakes work just the way we envisioned it, while adding insightful ideas we hadn't even considered. As mentioned in other reviews, our guests too are still talking about the food! The best part is I am too! So many friends and family had told me how difficult it is to eat at your own wedding (epecially with a flow reception like we had). My husband and I had, Tim, a server dedicated to making sure we tried every passed app and all the dinner courses - such a fabulous and very much appreciated idea! We are thrilled that Carolines cafe at Scripps is now open so we can go there, have Giusseppe's food at our venue and reminisce about the joyful day they helped us create. More...

After nearly a decade of being together, my wife and I finally tied the knot two Sundays ago and it was great to have Giuseppe Fine Catering there to make sure we had a great time. We just hosted a "Party in Paradise" in our backyard. We decided to hire a caterer so we could enjoy ourselves...it was the BEST decision we could have made! There are so many choices when it comes to caterers. One of the main reasons I went with Giuseppe's was because they didn't have a minimum order. We had 40 people & all I wanted was "finger foods." The menu choices were incredible. I totally trusted Jessica to help us make decisions & every single item was delicious. The presentation, the creativity & the service was top-notch. I hired 2 servers that kept food coming for several hours. I was concerned we wouldn't have enough food. No one left hungry! I never had to do anything! When they left, they picked everything up, took the trash out & left our house as if we never had a party! Peter & Corri you are the BEST!!! Giuseppe & staff...THANK YOU!!! We threw a party together in A DAY AND A HALF (!) and Giuseppe's Matt and his crew planned the perfect amount of food, served beautifully-- in A DAY AND A HALF! Did you get that? Less than two days? It was a cocktail party and Matt sent two stationary displays plus five different passed hors d'oeuvres on lovely platters, and he also sent wine glasses and plates so we didn't have to think of a thing except making everyone feel comfortable. Giuseppe catered the two-day event that I had attended at Scripps at UCSD. All I have to say is that they were amazing. From baked goods at breakfast, to sandwiches, salads, and pasta at lunch, to cookies and brownies for the mid-afternoon slump, to hors d'oeuvres during the reception, I couldn't believe how delicious their food was. It was always nicely laid out and prepared and we were provided with lots of selection of everything. What blew my mind were the four thick pieces of prosciutto they were serving at the reception in EACH serving. I was in shock because it was ridiculously too awesome. I chose Giuseppe as our caterer for our wedding in La Jolla (Museum of Contemporary Art) for 170 guests, and could not have been happier that we did so. Since I wasn't from San Diego, I relied mostly on Yelp and other wedding reviews for recommendations. I did a lot of research at first, not immediately choosing Giuseppe even though I know he did most of the catering for the museum, being Asian and thinking perhaps Giuseppe was too much on the 'Italian' side of cooking. However, after our food tasting and consistent communication w/ Giuseppe himself (which showed his professionalism and service), he was hands down the winner (We canceled our other food tastings at that point).Giuseppe worked within our budget, gave advice on setup and decor, and was flexible with our menu (eg, swapping in chicken skewers for my Asian family instead of endive spoons).  The quality of the food at the wedding was EXCELLENT, matching that exactly of our food tasting (even though they had to produce 170 plates instead of 2!), and there were nice little touches of presentation that night, that I did not expect.As a bride, I have to admit I was more focused on the band/music and other decor/details - so it was SO nice to not have to worry about the catering. I recently had lunch with a group at the Museum Cafe in the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla.  Our table and food were ready right on time, and the presentation was beautiful.  Giuseppe's food was absolutely delicious!    Particular standouts were the salmon sandwich, the shrimp and papaya salad,  and the mango quesadillas.  With new items seasonally being added to the menu, I am excited to eat there on a regular basis.   In addition to the wonderful menu, the location is terrific with the lovely outdoor patio, and proximity to the ocean.  This is a great place for a group event and also a good place to keep in mind for out of town guests - it's the total California experience. This past weekend I had a couples Bridal Shower here our home. Everything went as planned and the food was....DIVINE! Many of my guests came up to tell me how delicious and creative it all was. I worked with Jessica, the social event specialist, who helped me define exactly what I needed. She called the morning of the event to check in, as well as after the event.I hired a server (good decision) to help arrange and set out the food. Giuseppes catering group catered my wedding last month, and there was not one thing that they could have done better. The food was amazing, and so beautifully presented. The staff though, were just incredible. My husband and I missed the appetizer hour while we were taking pictures. One of the servers asked us if we would like a plate prepared for us and placed at our table to munch on during the toasts and slide show, which was just the nicest thing. Frederik never let our champagne glasses get lower than half, and would so politely sneak in to fill them so we didn't miss a second with our guests. I have heard  so many wonderful comments from our family and friends, and would recommend this catering group- from the planning with Jessica through the whole party- to ANYONE who is having any kind of party in the area. Giuseppe's catering is an easy ten stars.  His managers, Jessica and Frederik leave no detail unfinished to the very highest standards.  The food is perfection.  The presentation is so beautiful and artistic.  His servers are exquisite perfectionists.  No one is overly ostentatious, and everyone feels elegant throughout the event.  We had my daughter's wedding at the Paine Scripps Forum, a relatively new wedding venue, and Giuseppe, Jessica and Frederik made it a night that neither the families nor the guests will ever forget.  I have nothing but the highest respect for their superior effort and skill!!!!
