Had a great lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Food was very very good. The surf and turf was nothing like any other (you'll see) and the shrimp and grits were outstanding.

Rustic southern country elegant atmosphere. Servers where denim aprons with plaid shirts. Spin on southern food with a gourmet flair. Food is delicious. Take 3 days & visit the hot wing & chicken next door & the lounge downstairs. More...

Great flavor for the fried chicken (served spicy) and the blue crab. Not a huge fan of the greens, prefer mine more southern traditional like they have in Fernandina at Gilbert's Underground. Staff was five star!

Good drink specials during happy hour, food and service impeccable. I had the shrimp and grits, which was creamy and delicious! Please give this place a try

Ribs are amazing. Cole slaw gas a nice twist. A bit over priced for casual dining but service was great and patio seating perfect. Hope they open that up for more than weekends More...

I enjoyed everything except the dessert and the hostess. I ordered the kale salad topped with grilled shrimp and the biscuits and cornbread appetizer. Both were absolutely delicious. I ordered the apple tart and chocolate pecan pie to-go, and I wasn't a fan of either. My husband tried both desserts, too, and he agreed that they weren't delicious like we'd hoped they'd be. As for the hostess.. This was my first visit, and I entered the restaurant at the South entrance. There was a gentleman there who was awesome and directed me toward the area where my friend was waiting for me. As I climbed the stairs, the hostess (who was on the phone when the gentleman first dropped me off at the bottom of the stairs) located at that entrance was quite rude asking where I was going. I told her I was meeting a friend and continued climbing the stairs. She stepped from behind the counter and asked how I knew my friend was even there. I told her (as I continued to climb) that my friend texted me giving me her location. I'm not sure what the problem was, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. More...

Pros: food is very good, staff is friendly, great location and view of the ocean, drinks are tasty, FB hot sauce I need to bring home with me!

Cons: bartender very slow, service was kind of slow considering there aren't that many tables, food concepts are great (as expected from Chef Kenny) but some dishes need some tweaks (chicken pork belly BLT appetizer had good flavors, but pork belly was so hard on the edges almost chipped a tooth, yet was somehow still delicious).

#Support local! Love everything Chef Kenny makes, so I can't wait to come back and also try the hot chicken place in front.

I don’t give a lot a 5 stars to restaurants but this one easily hit the mark. Every dish was delicious and flavorful without over-spicing. The local fish special was done to perfection, the best kale salad I have ever had and the banana fosters dessert was exceptional. Well done! Highly recommended. More...

This is, hands down, one of Jacksonville’s best restaurants. The cocktails are interesting but very drinkable, the food is completely southern but innovative, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and quick with a heartfelt opinion on food and drinks. The portions a bit ridiculously huge, and the flavors are honest and delicious. Plus, one of the few places in Jax Beach with an ocean view! More...

I am so happy to have a quality waterfront restaurant in Jax Beach. This is one of my new favorite places. We had a large party and tried a little bit of everything . From the drinks to the starters to the meals and dessert— It was all prepared perfectly. Dishes are unique twists on Southern favorites. Friendly and knowledgeable servers. Try the pimento cheese cannelloni! More...

Great views, excellent food and the service was outstanding. I will be going back. Plus the price was very reasonable. I've been to 2 of Gilbert's restaurant's and both are excellent. Highly recommended.

Went here a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night with another couple and though the food was good, I thought it was a bit over priced for what you got. $22 for fried chicken. I had the stroganoff special which was good but too watery for my taste. Will probably try again but stick to the sandwich menu. More...

KG has done it again. So happy to have his cooking closer to where we live.. we ate at the front kitchen which is the Hot Chicken restaurant but then lounged at the bar upstairs which is the Southern Kitchen part of the building. The Oceanview is amazing and we cant wait to try the options on the Southern Kitchen menu when we come back. The Cocktails are awesome and Kenny's food is always amazing. More...

Fantastic and refreshing dining experience. Started off with the Ultimate Beast cocktail of Habanero infused whisky...wowza! Delicious-just the right amount of heat and sweet. Appetizer of the year is the broiled gulf oysters with cornbread and kale crumble. Watch out! These could become addictive. The tuna poke with quinoa and heirloom tomatoes was prepared exquisitely and seasoned perfectly. For entrees we had the amazing Shrimp and Grits and the flavors abound with sun dried tomatoes and delicately roasted sweet whole garlic cloves and some kind of delicious cream sauce: Definitely not yo mama’s shrimp and grits! The fresh catch of Atlantic Salmon was obviously prepared with passion; flavor and temperature was perfect, nesting on a bed of creamy potatoes. Unfortunately we didn’t save room for dessert, but there is always next time. Portions were plentiful, service top notch, and we’re coming back tomorrow. Jacksonville, you are lucky this restaurant picked you. Do not hesitate! More...
