Auto Torque
The shoot James did for me included images to capture the Auto Torque brand, team and facilities. James is extremely easy going, we got on with our jobs and he worked around us. He is very professional, we barely knew he was there taking pictures - a true natural. I came across James as a photographer, whose photographs I would love, back in 2006. My daughter was playing the part of Titania in the Tring Park School production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. On arriving on opening night, I stood gazing at the beautiful poster of a delicate girl (fairy), lying asleep with her soft white dress, wings and tiara underneath the wording of “The course of true love, never did run smooth”. It took some time before I was to realise that the photograph that had an extraordinarily ethereal quality was actually of my daughter! The photographs from the entire production were stunning and beautifully captured. There were no posed photographs they were all natural and true images, organically taken, reflecting the drama and joy of the cast in the play. Unsurprisingly I requested a copy of the poster which, to this day, has hung in every office I have ever worked in! I also requested copies of the photographs and gifted my daughter a book made up of all them – it was impossible to choose favourites! I have kept in touch with Gentle Visions Photography since then and have little doubt that when ‘Titania’ eventually marries – she will have no hesitation in who she chooses to be her wedding photographer! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Understanding your subject and making the best use of light and composition.
I favour natural style photograohs that capture people being them selves and that tell as story.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I start with the end in mind and ask them what they were looking to achieve
Everyone is unique and so are their requirments, so I would always start with a conversation to explore what they were planning, along with the important deatils. We would then discuss together how I could help.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the smiles of people's faces when they see my finished work
I enjoy working with lots of different people and helping them capture forevever things that are important to them.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired to start my own business as I both love photography and I enjoy using my creative skills to tell visiual stories that people can treasure forever.
I enjoy the variety of work I do from relaxed and informal family portraits to supporting small business enhance their brands.
Live performance photography is quite an art that keeps me on my toes.

Lifestyle Portrait Photography
We capture you and those you love, doing what you enjoy at your favourite places. 'Family' of course in the broadest sense of the word from extended family, pets, friends, club groups. I personally love the great outdoors, am not afraid of mud and am very much about getting out there and capturing the action.
We don't do formal studio portrait photography - everything is done on location. It does not have to be outside of course. The kitchen or heart of the home often makes a great spot for informal lifestyle photography.
Business & Personal Branding Photography
We help by creating wonderful images to convey your brand message. We will support you to help define and create visual assets that convey your unique message, drawing on both my marketing and photographic experience as part of a collaborative process. We'll then go on to take the shots of you, your products and or your events.
Performing Arts Photography
Gentle Visions has worked for many years with performers and schools to capture performance in action. There is nothing like the real thing and I've personally spent many hours perfecting the art of stealth live performance photography.

Gentle Visions offer natural, often called reportage style photography or weddings and other special events and celebrations. We work around you to capture candid shots of your event or party as it unfolds, the details, the people and the shared experience.
