Gemma has the astounding ability to give the impression from her photographs that she’s just captured an intimate or special moment, just by chance. Her images have the beauty and composition of a great photographer with all the technical ability, but as if a friend who was either there in that moment with the subject or just someone passing by has snapped a shot. Her photographs look so effortless, but like all true artists, she puts so much thought and effort into getting that original and iconic shot!
Our teenage children, who are all cousins, were playing a gig in a big venue in Wiltshire in front of 300 people. It was the first time they had done anything like this and really meant a huge amount to our whole family and many of our friends-some of whom couldn’t be there. So having special photos of the children was so important to us. I knew there would be other photographs taken on the night and even another professional photographer. But I also knew that Gemma would take more than just photos of the night. She certainly did not disappoint us!! Rather than taking standard shots from the front of the stage, without being noticed, she disappeared around the back and took the most beautiful pictures of the children linking arms looking out to their audience and caught each and everyone of them in the moment. She captured the beautiful shadows from the stage lights and created such fantastic images that our family will treasure forever. I will probably frame them all! Gemma’s work is totally inspired and original. Her photos have a unique and natural beauty about them . I love ALL her work!! More...
