I provide bookkeeping services and am based at home. I can easily visit clients in and around the Huddersfield area to collect and return paperwork. For clients further afield we will need to work out some system that works for us so that I can work remotely.

What kind of accounting services do you provide?
I predominantly provide bookkeeping services. These can be for any size organisation; I can use Excel spreadsheets or your preferred cloud based software. I can complete VAT returns for VAT registered businesses and submit them for you to HMRC. My background is working (for 30+ years) across a wide area in general accountancy practices and GBD Accounting is able to prepare your accounts to a high level, ready for your accountant or tax agent to work with for your annual compliance obligations.

It makes sense for business owners to spend their time generating sales, and outsourcing services such as bookkeeping can help you organise your time better. Having a good bookkeeper is less costly than asking your accountant to compile your year's records and when your accountant receives your records they can take less time to carry out their compliance service for you; this should help to keep your accountancy fees down, and hopefully leave you with spare budget to spend with them on other services such as forecasting, budgeting etc. should you need to.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping people feel that their lives are in good order by knowing that all their bits of paper have been dealt with correctly. Helping people know how their businesses are doing at any particular time to help them make good business decisions.

I have over 30 years experience in general accountancy practice and so know exactly what accountants need from clients to carry out their work. I have knowledge of a wide range of tax issues (personal, partnerships, and corporate) and so can provide a lot of guidance in this area too, though I do not want to take on the responsibility for people's tax (other than VAT).
