GO ELSEWHERE! AN EXPENSIVE LESSON LEARNED.
I was working on a project this week which required me to tab back and forth on numerous programmes - so I decided to ring Gary's to see if he could install various short cut icons on to my Homepage. The only reason I contacted Gary's was he advertised being a Dublin 8 Computer Repair business when in fact all the work is done in Cabinteely. At the outset, I impressed upon him that I urgently required my PC to be returned within 24 hours as his website boasted same day service. I left the PC into the Guinness Enterprise Centre early on Tuesday morning with detailed specific instructions of what I needed to be done. I contacted Gary later that day to enquire when I could pick up my PC only to be told "I'll Check". No word the following day then on Thursday I contacted him saying that my project had to be completed before close of business the following day and therefore I required my PC back without delay. It was then he told me that my computer (the one I am using to write this review) was working very slow, had become corrupted and required a completely new hard drive. He estimated that it would cost in excess of €500 to "repair everything????"
I was completely shocked to hear this so I rang a colleague of mine who was an IT consultant and he too was astounded to hear of Gary's diagnosis particularly as my PC was only just over two years old. I immediately contacted Gary and instructed him not to touch anything, leave the PC exactly as it was and that I would come and collect it. He tried to impress upon me that the PC was in dire need of repairs - which I found hard to believe. As soon as he realised that I was determined to collect my PC later that day, he immediately stated that I would be charged €90 EVALUATION FEE!!!!!! An invoice for this amount was emailed to me within five minutes - which I have refused to pay. I did not leave my PC in for repairs so there was no need for any type of "evaluation" - it's just a way of making money from people stupid enough to engage with Gary's Computer Repairs.
I collected my PC from Sandyford late on Thursday, and managed to complete my project in time - using a computer that was deemed very slow, completely corrupted and in dire need of a new Hard Drive!!! You can take it that I will never go anywhere near Gary's Computer Repair business ever again. More...

Rang Gary, almost immediate response. Was looking for a charger for lap top, emergency out of hours. Great quick reliable service.

Avoid at all costs -appalling communication and service laptop not charging so I left it with Gary for repair. After a week having heard nothing I called for an update but he didn’t know if he had received it.

A couple of days later he confirmed that he was in fact in possession of the laptop. After two months my laptop was “sorted” and ready for collection. But after two months and €204 with Gary it was no better. In order to get it sorted I had to spend an addition or so €185 to get it working. I contacted Gary to explain my dissatisfaction with the service and asked for a refund and after a few days to and fro was told a refund was in progress. 18 days on no refund received.

I posted a negative review on google and promptly got a response to say his child was in the US being treated for a rare disease and a refund would be made the following week.

Now we’re in the following week + 1 and no refund.

Gary recovered my laptop in less than 48 hours and replaced the charger lead. Quick service, good communication and great advice. A keeper.
