Shane is a very respectful, professional, and helpful teacher. He clearly has a lot of experience with both playing the guitar and teaching. He patiently guides you towards a clear path of what you want to achieve. Shane encourages you to be skills-based, so that you form good habits and understand the language of music before you start tinkering around on the guitar and learning songs on Youtube. After 5 weeks of private lessons, I feel like I have a good basis of skills and knowledge so that I can continue learning guitar properly. I highly recommend his services. More...

Shane is an awesome instructor, he makes guitar learning an amazing experience rather than a routine class. He pays close attention to what we do every step of the way, he sends follow up emails and also a structural way of practicing to make it easier to learn.

I started taking lessons with Shane through the 5 Week Introductory Special. Shane has done an excellent job at determining my level of play and adjusting the course to fit my needs. The course is structured in a way that you develop a solid foundation of knowledge and skill during the lesson and then fine tune at home through practice. After only two lessons, I am already beginning to feel a lot more comfortable and confident with the instrument. The quick progress is very motivating which is important when taking up a new hobby. I would recommend Shane and the G4 guitar school to anyone interested in learning guitar for the first time or improving previous skills. More...

Most of the guitarists I listen to have had great teachers training and inspiring them. This motivated me to really join a Guitar school and be taught by a professional teacher. I was told by a friend of mine to get in touch with G4 Guitar School and I was all excited to finally join. My happiness sky'rock'eted when I got to know Shane Allessio, a professional Jazz musician, was going to be my guitar teacher. Trust me, it's great to be taught by a professional musician. Shane is very patient, yes this is what I looked for as an absolute beginner! He loves teaching as much as he loves playing music. Shane has taught me new tricks, ways to play guitar, and already in my 5th month now, I am getting very comfortable playing chords, scales, and most importantly songs :). He makes sure you're practising every single day, which shows his strong interest in you learning faster. I strongly recommend this school for anyone at any age. I am totally satisfied with my learning and it gives me such immense joy to strum my guitar everyday. Thanks to Shane and the G4 method. More...

G4 Guitar Method is such an efficient way that my 8-year-old son started his learning only 3 months ago and now he has jumped to Junior Level 2 and has learned 4 songs. Using this method, it seems easy to learn Guitar.
And the teacher Shane Allessio is awsome. He's so patient with my son's many whys and manages the class very well. He makes the kid's learning fun and fruitful as well. My son always feels excited to learn with Shane and his fingers often itch for playing Guitar now.
So lucky to learn with Shane using G4 Guitar Method.

Q&As

I love to help people realize their potential and achieve their goals as efficiently as possible. Learning an instrument takes a lot of time, patience and dedicated practice,. Whether you're a complete beginner, casual novice or elite session player, you've gotta be practicing. The two main obstacles people face are, 1) what to practice, and 2) how to manage a dedicated practice schedule. If you're practicing the right stuff and you're doing it enough, then you can play any song, any solo, anything you want. That moment students break through that first barrier and realize they can really go somewhere on their instrument, that's what I love.

Most gigging musicians have a handful of students here and there, and I was no exception. But teaching a few people out of your apartment between gigs limits the amount of people you can really serve. I opened G4 Brookline with the intent to help hundreds of people learn guitar or bass.

What's really impressive about the G4 GUITAR METHOD (and the B4 Bass Method for bassists) and makes it stand out from the crowd is the structure. The G4 GUITAR METHOD is based on the 80/20 principle. The 80/20 basically says that 80% of results come from 20% of efforts. In other words G4 focuses on the 20% that matters most and will get students playing their favorite songs sooner. G4 students literally progress faster by focusing on what we call the seven essential skills. I know there are some great methods out there but I haven't seen anything like G4. On top of the method there is the training and support G4 teachers receive. It is practically unheard of in this business and it makes a world of difference. David Hart has been developing the method and teaching guitar for over 30 years and he makes himself available not just to answer questions but will watch video footage of lessons and give feedback. And to add to that there are around 50 G4 teachers in the network who all support each other. It truly unique and like nothing I have seen anywhere. I always tell my students, I wish there had of been a G4 Guitar School when I was first starting out! It would have made things much more clear and simple for me as a beginner.
