Thank you to Lucy, Eleanor and Glyn! I was a little worried about using a designer but needn’t have been. Lucy was great from start to finish. She listened to what I wanted, understood how I wanted to use the spaces (the project was over 3 rooms) and helped me achieve results far more lovely than I had ever imagined! She made suggestions that I loved, others I didn’t, but she was very quick to respond to my reactions and put together a design that was much more creative, interesting and imaginative than I could ever have done, but still remaining true to me, my family, my taste and the practicalities of our home and family life. She made it very easy, saved me hours of trawling websites and showrooms and all I had to do in the end was say “yes”! What’s your interior design process?
We understand that not everyone or every project is the same and that people like to work in different ways. To make things easy we have outlined below how we usually work:
In our showrooms
Looking for soft furnishings, wallcoverings, designer paint, furniture of finishing touches? Come and visit us at either of our showrooms where our team of friendly designers will be delighted to help you.
It is good idea to bring photos of the room you would like some help with, and rough dimensions so that we can quickly gain a full understanding of the space we are working with and what you are looking to achieve.
Our showrooms can get busy so although you are always welcome to call in it is advisable to book an appointment to ensure that we can give you our undivided attention.
Interior Design Visit
For larger projects, we do recommend an Interior Design Consultation at your property for which we do charge a fee.
This is a really practical service, which gives the Designer the opportunity to see the project first hand and get a real feel of the space, how it needs to work and most importantly, your likes and dislikes. Once they have got a feel for things, you then return to the showroom for a follow up appointment where the designer puts forward ideas and themes for discussion.
This can be a really fun and interactive session that forms the basis of your scheme but all safe in the knowledge that the designer has an in- depth understanding of the room or rooms in question.
Interior Design Service
Looking for a more “hands off” approach to Interior Design? Then this is the service for you. We charge a design fee per room of typically £500, although this will depend on the scale on the works required.
The process starts with your chosen designer visiting your property to talk through your requirements before returning to the showroom to get to work pulling a scheme together. They will then invite you back to one of our showrooms and present the scheme to you using mood boards and samples to illustrate their ideas. They will then work with you until you are delighted with each individual element of the scheme. The mood boards are yours to keep. However where we really add the value is that, should you wish to proceed, your designer will source all of the items on your behalf, arrange for their delivery and then will be on hand to assist with the installation to ensure the perfect finish!
Project Management
This is our premium service, totally bespoke and built entirely around you. This is perfect for those that just want things sorting as we organise everything from start to finish. Just give us the keys and we project manage the whole process for you from the initial design, through delivery and installation to the final hand over. We use our trusted tradespeople to ensure the process is completely hassle free and your vision is delivered perfectly. Get in touch or call in and see us to discuss how we can help you.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
We have a huge range of suppliers and an extensive pattern library (probably the best in Yorkshire!), so we really can cater for just about any style!

Everyone in our team is passsionate about what they do (even Katie in our office who loves filing!). The design team love seeing a finished job and delighted clients.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Glyn & Eleanor, the owners of Furnish & Fettle, bought what was James Brindley in 2016 to establish a family business in an industry that they love.
