Functional Performance Fitness is the perfect place to get your workout in! Everyday is a different workout according to their schedule. Monday - Total Body Circuit Tuesday - Cardio Wednesday - Core Thursday - Leg Day Friday - Push & PullSaturday - Total Body CircuitMy favorite days are Thursday and Friday! This place is a Game Changer!  I have just about tried everything to keep my interest from trail running, Orange Theory, Pilates, Yoga, Circuit Training, etc.  I am super busy so I need something that keeps my interest and does the job.  This place does it all.  The trainers are focused and make sure you are doing exercises correctly so you don't end up with an injury.  Every class is unique and different so it keeps my interest and attention.  They have everything from TRX, bikes, rowers, ski machines to weights, medicine balls, and ropes.  If you go to at least 3 classes a week, it will focus on each part of your body.  I have been having a hard time not going.  Just turned 50 and feel like I am in the best shape of my life!  A MUST if you want to get in shape or maintain. Really awesome gym!! They have classes 6 days out of the week, and each day there's a different focus (core, legs, cardio, total body, etc). I love the workouts they make you do and the small class sizes. Added bonus: the instructors have a great energy and push you to try your hardest. I definitely recommend checking this place out! Trying FPF had been a highly anticipated event and they did not disappoint. I had one of the best workouts of my life and love that every workout is different. You’ll never get bored and your muscles/progress won’t stagnate. If you’re looking for a good push with excellent trainers, this is the place. The community aspect is encouraging and people are supportive. I have worked with Vinh Le in the past with excellent results and am excited to return to my workouts with him. He and business partner/co-owner John have done an excellent job in creating a new and UNIQUE place to maximize fitness. They genuinely care about helping members reach their goals. This is exactly what Willow Glen needed! After searching for quite some time for the right fit, I came across an all-inclusive kind of gym with attentive, supportive instructors that offer just the right amount of butt-kicking, while being very understanding of any injuries. No pressure here to keep up with everyone, but if you want to be pushed towards your goals? Well, John, Vinh and Andrea will gladly help you out there. ;)Put in the work & you can expect to come out with great fitness results. Dietary guidance is also one of their specialties, with reasonably priced meal prep options (perfect for busy work schedules), and I like that you can keep track with monthly weigh-ins to check progress.I did one of their six week lose-weight-feel-great type challenges and felt great afterwards. This place is amazing! John, Vinh, and Drea really care about the success of their clients. They always have the gym open, and set up ready to go on time (unlike another gym I went to where the trainer would show up at the time the class was supposed to start). They have great classes and times (5am being the earliest), and their patience with me is amazing. I’m a complainer and they seem to tolerate it!I look forward to continuing working out at FPF, and will do my best to get others to sign up, as it’s an AMAZING place to be. More...

When my wife dragged me (kicking & screaming) to Functional Performance Fitness (FPF), I was very skeptical. After the first couple of sessions, I am hooked now. John & Vinh, who are the amazing coaches of FPF, take care of their member's health and fitness seriously. Vihn and John are the best!  Each workout is fun and challenging. Never the same workout with variantions daily. They are knowledgeable and help members modify exercises are needed to work with past injuries and push others to meet their fitness goals.

A friend and I followed John and Vinh from our previous chain-store gym to their current location on Lincoln Avenue. We weren't able to transfer initially because of the usual, corporate "gym contract" run-around so it was a relief to finally make it to their gym and workout with professionals whose sole focus wasn't the bottom line. Their workouts are creative, mind and body engaging and can be dialed up or down depending on your level of fitness. If you have an injury they will help you to modify the workout. This, I think, is the best part. Our previous gym had us working to the lowest common denominator eg the newest or less fit person in the class. The routine was virtually the same everyday and the access to equipment was very limited. John and Vinh really want to help EACH person reach their personal goal, regardless of fitness level.Each exercise is explained and Vinh is quite good at letting us know what part of the body is being most affected, the proper form and will ask if we have questions before moving on. The equipment addresses every part of your body and the variety of weights, balls, rollers, machines, resistance bands and bars is plentiful. Often overlooked but really important about a place you want to take your body everyday is the fact that the gym, bathrooms and workout areas are clean and well-cared for. There is always hand sanitizer, paper towels, cups/water, soap and showers that most places just cheap out on. I really appreciate these generous touches because I know it costs money. They really do want to provide the highest level of service to their clients and it's obvious they take pride in their gym.They should...it's amazing. More...

I'm giving 4 stars only because I was unable to actually take the class. There was a mention on maps that parking was difficult in the area, so I left early to give myself extra time. I ran out of time and missed the cut off time for class.  I travel for work and was unfamiliar with the area and didn't realize just how busy it was going to be. It didn't help that it gets dark early now too, so it was hard to see.  It's a lovely neighborhood though! Hoping to try again soon when I'm back in town! More...

This place kicks my ass and whip me into shape in such a short amount of time you will hate to love it too.  You think you know fitness until you get a real personal trainer.  Their group personal training program works really well and you get the most bang for your bucks.  If you can afford one on one training, You'll learn faster.  Tips: off peak group classes are smaller and you'll get some one on one time.  John classes are usually a lot tougher.  He doesn't say much but his routines are really good.  Take his class if you want to get the most work out in an hour.Vinh class is not as tough as John but he's more vocal and spend a little more time to correct your postures.  He's pretty hands on with everyone and always engaging to make sure you're not slacking Andreas class is the softest of the three but by no mean easy.  She explains work out more throughly and very attentive, you'll gain insights and gets answers in her class. I find my life much happier and healthier since I switched to this gym.  You don't need heart monitor, their programs are designed to keep you pumped to your own pace.  They never use the same routine so you're always learning new workouts.  I highly recommend you give someone a gift of this gym membership.  The best thing you can give someone in my opinion, the result is guaranteed, it's very life changing More...

I joined functional performance Fitness end of March & joined the upcoming body transformation challenge for april 2nd. Great motivating trainers as of Vinh was on me with weekly meal plans that I stuck to & daily group training 6 days a week. After my twins battling with depression struggled with my weight gained so much. After completing the challenge ended may 22nd I've lost 35 pounds & won. My body transformed & my strength & well being more energy & positive mind set. I continue to push myself daily & training as a group so much fun. I was looking to strengthen my back and get serious about shaping p after years of weight gain following a back injury. So I looked for an expert and found John Rodriguez. My biggest fear was having a trainer who would push me past my limits causing re-injury of my back and neck. Despite my age (I am over 60 years), John has helped me to lose all - and more - of the weight I wanted to shed by dropping over 20 pounds, and eating healthy. I went from a size 10 to a size 2!What I like best about working with John is that he is an expert at taking an out-of-shape body and turning it into a a figure that matches what his client(s) envision. He focuses on what the client needs, tailors nutritional and workout programs specific to each client, and modifies his approach based on results. In every session, whether group or individual, John modifies or creates exercises to fit the client's needs. I have been been hurt in the years that I have trained with him. I can trust John to push me to do exercises that I am afraid to tackle. He is so knowledgeable that I always feel at ease. When I hit a plateau in my weight - he told me what I needed to do to get past it - by modifying or sticking to my diet; one that my doctor approved as well. Trusting in his expertise has changed my figure, increased my energy, given me new confidence, and even improved my sleep!I am lucky to have found John, and I would recommend him to anyone who is serious about getting in shape. I started personal training when I was living in NYC in 2007 and ever since then I've been committed to one on one training as its been the best way for me to see real results and a noticeable change in my body. When I left my last gym in April of last year, I searched high and low for my next trainer. I've worked out with some fantastic trainers so I will admit I am very picky. After speaking to John about his health and fitness philosophy, I knew I had met my next trainer. I will never forget my first workout when after 15 minutes I looked at the clock and he said "that's not going to make the time go any faster". I laughed and got back to work. John has a great ability to know how far he can push you. Sometimes it's intimidating but I love pushing myself and feeling a sense of pride knowing I had completed something I didn't think was possible (I'm 51). One of the other things I love about Functional Performance Fitness, is that I can supplement my personal training by taking advantage of their group training classes. Their trainers put together these awesome workouts that are action packed and always different. CHECK IT OUT!! Finally a local group and personal training gym run by guys that don't make you feel bad about yourself.  This gym just opened up in the neighborhood and I'm obsessed already. John registered my sister and I, they did a full assessment for us to determine our fitness levels, took all measurements and discussed our options to reach our goals. Meal plans INCLUDED.  We are so excited to start this journey at our new gym.   The prices are fair for the amount of actual attention you get from the trainers. It's honestly more like private personal training for a group rate.   John was sure to watch our form and technique to ensure we didn't get injured. The facility is open and has all the equipment you need to do all the workouts and then some.  There are nice showers and cubbies for your personal items.  The class times are convenient and seem like they would really work with all schedules being they start really early and go through the evening.
