I've been really impressed with Port Coquitlam CrossFit. I came into it with no crossfit experience, but many years of going to the gym by myself. The coaches and members are awesome - consistently helpful and encouraging! The focus is not about being the fastest/strongest in the class, but on each person continually improving. I've experienced 3 main benefits at this club, compared to a standard gym workout: 1. Expert coaching. The small classes allow each person to get a lot of instruction, almost like a personal training session. I've lifted weights for years but never knew if I was doing the movement 100% accurately (risking injury). I have benefitted a lot from the coaching - whether it's breaking down complex new movements to a manageable variation; or small tweaks to movements I've been doing for years.2. Pushing yourself. Classes are short and intense. You will work hard and want to stop at times. But the fitness improvements are quick and dramatic. When I would go to the gym by myself, I would decide how hard to go (which was never that hard). I recently went back for a regular gym workout and it was so lacklustre compared to the crossfit workouts I've been doing. If you want to get healthy and fit, this is the optimal environment.3. Holistic Fitness. Again, I got pretty good at certain gym exercises, but my all-around fitness was not great. I was really inflexible and had limited anaerobic capacity. Crossfit is about developing every part of your body in every component of fitness. This has been allowing me to feel great, avoid injuries, and have more energy/mobility for the stuff of life.Here's a final word on the cost. It is not cheap - especially when compared to a typical gym membership. But honestly, the value is incredible. There are tons of classes offered throughout the week and it feels like having your own personal trainer. If you are willing to work hard and invest in your health and fitness in an enjoyable way, Port Coquitlam CrossFit is going to be the perfect environment for you. More...

The noon classes here are challenging & a good workout for a lunch break workout, only 45 minutes. So there's time for a nice shower in change room area to clean up after class & back to work.

I joined Function about 6 months ago, starting with a well-priced intro offer, which soon became my very first long-term gym membership in the 31 years of my life. I have checked out almost all gyms around downtown area and FHC has by far been the “cleanest” and “most peaceful” gym space I have ever found. A well-managed boutique space where the owners, trainers and members all see as a “home” and genuinely care about.I have been training with Jeff since I joined FHC and would summarize my experience in three key qualities: His Knowledge, Care and Motivation. Firstly, with a degree in human kinetics and many years of experience as a personal trainer he well understands the body and its relationship to exercise - something that was crucial to me given a serious injury that I’ve previously had in my lower back. Secondly, it is priceless to see how much he cares about your goals as well as your limitations, and his smile and pride when you find yourself one step closer to where you eventually want to be. And thirdly, he never stops motivating you and fuelling you to go one extra rep with that dumbbell, and that’s frankly one of the main reasons why, this time, I could persistently and happily continue working out 3 times a week for more than 6 months! I have been training with Jeff at Function Health and I will continue doing it. I love the way he combines different exercises, gets my heart pumping fast and achieve my results. I am working on body toning, muscle building and strengthening and his training is really helping me to reach achieve my goals. Training with a personal trainer can be really mandatory when you want to achieve your results faster and in an efficient way. But most important is to find the right trainer! Function Health Club is a great gym. Clean, packed with good equipment, maintained by a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and still private enough that it isn't packed even at rush hour. I highly recommend it!

Marcela's strengths as a personal trainer stem from her clear communication with clients about movement quality, progressions and each client's unique goals. She is ultra patient, friendly and encouraging. She helps her clients develop the tools to further their fitness, whether it's confidence, strength programming, mobility, conditioning, or training functional movements for daily living. You'll come for the gym but you'll stay for the people. Caroline, Morgan and their team are amongst the best people I know in the Fitness industry. The community they have built is outstanding.

My 13 year old son is so thrilled to be working with coach Morgan Hodge at Port Coquitlam CrossFit! Morgan is a wonderful role model for all youth. He understands teens well and challenges them with their fitness in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. My daughter has been receiving personal training from Caroline and has gone from someone who loathes fitness to saying it's fun and she really looks forward to going. Caroline has been a vital part of my daughter getting stronger and improving her mobility which has been key in dealing with a rib issue she has. I have also done a few CrossFit classes at Port Coquitlam CrossFit and the atmosphere is electric, supportive and fantastic. More...

I haven't been to Port Coquitlam Crossfit yet, but I have had Caroline Mundell as a personal trainer/coach. In just a few months she helped me get to a great level of mobility through unique exercises.

I have recommended her to friends who saw me doing these exercises and wanted in on the uniqueness!

I've entertained the idea of, when I have the disposable income, having her as a full time personal trainer and dietitian. She does it all from yoga, to olympic lifting, to strength training, to mobility/flexibility, to dieting!

There's really no goal you can't reach with her. She's cool, movitvating and fun to be around. Highly recommend!

I can't wait to start crossfit in March :)
