Went here today after a day trip! We ordered the coconut prawns, chowder, front street burger, crab cakes, and chicken caesar wrap. Coconut prawns: only came with a dissapointing 6, and were definitely shrimp- not prawns. Was about 18 bucks I think. $2 per shrimp seems so steep to me. Chowder: today they were serving a curry chowder. It was pretty good, but I dont understand why they bothered replacing a classic seafood recipe with it. That was the only chowder they had today, and I was very disappointed they didnt have such a staple dish. It was good, but would have been better as an additional soup special instead of the replacement for clam chowder. They curry flavor was good, much like japanese golden curry, but overwhelmed any other flavor in the chowder. I would order it again, but not as a substitute for clam chowder. Anyway...Also, the garlic bread that came with the chowder was 2.50! The waitress did not mention the additional cost, which caught me off guard. That's business thoCrab cakes: Just okay. Very expensive, and felt a little undercooked in the middle. Burger: Good medium rare! Fries are crispy, but were not hot when they came out. Wrap: my mother really enjoyed it, was a good portion for sure. Overall, it was a very average experience. I thought everything was too expensive for what it is, but I guess we are also paying for the view. My family ended up paying $111 for a lunch I was not impressed with. I would come back to try the shellfish dishes they offer- it was an impressive menu and everything looked very good on paper. I'm adding an additional star because their covid precautions made me feel fairly comfortable. Tables are definitely separated, and the wait staff all had proper masks and there was sanitizer set up in easy to see locations. More...

Driving around Whidbey, we searched for takeout restaurants on MLK day, so tied with the holiday, a Monday, and Covid, there weren't a lot of options. However, we are so happy we found Front Street Grill! We were starving after hiking in the morning so we got burgers, fries, sweet potato fries, clam chowder, coconut shrimp and brisket reuben. The burger really surprised me, the meat was grilled to perfection and juicy and the homemade remoulade paired nicely. My boyfriend had the reuben which was huge and he ate it in probably 5 minutes. Both fries and coconut shrimp were crispy and perfectly salty. The clam chowder was really hot and fresh, the right thickness but a little more on the creamy side. There isn't an online ordering platform but we called them and reviewed the limited takeout menu from their website. They were really friendly, gave us a 30 min. estimated time, and explained the pick up procedure. No one is allowed to wait inside, they are not offering outdoor dining, strictly takeout only. Waiting outside, they have 3 windows with corresponding tables labeled "1, 2, or 3." After I called and ordered, I provided my card info, and was assigned a "table" where one person from my group was allowed to go inside when the food was placed on the table to pick up and sign the check. The food was ready about 10 min after the ETA, however, we weren't in a rush, it didn't seem like they had a lot of staff, and almost every other place in the area was closed, so I'm sure they got hit with the lunch rush. I was impressed with the organized procedure, and outside the restaurant, all the FAQs are listed, so it was a bit silly watching people trying to go in and out and not read the rules. Stay safe, wear a mask, and watch your hands people! More...

Came up to Whidbey Island for a weekend getaway and found this little gem.  Penn Cove is known for mussels up here, and I knew I had to find a good spot to try some.  For one, this place did a nice job of social distancing and was very friendly and accommodating.  We had our dog with us and outside seating was closed, but instead of just turning us away, they compromised by seating us next to a window, where we could watch our dog leashed up right outside on a private back patio.  We had two orders of mussels.  The first was amazing - Copenhagen mussels.  Really great flavor and the sauce was delicious.  The second - Whidbey mussels - was still good, but the resulting sauce was thin and overpowered by the wine.  The accompanying garlic bread was perfect.  Service was quick.  Would love to come back and try other flavors and menu items!  Just to note, we showed up around 1:30pm and were seated immediately.  The joint was full, with a line outside, by the time we left. We had the unfortunate experience of overpaying for a meal at the front street grill tonight. Not only did the woman at the table next to us have her shoes off and her bare feet on the chair across from her (which I admit was not the fault of the restaurant)! But when we brought it to the attention of the restaurant we were told that they are locals so it was to be expected. I realize that the name of the restaurant is The Front Street "Grill" which could be interpreted as a local bar and grill and that bare feet on a chair would be acceptable, but the price points of the menu items would suggest otherwise. This place isn't inexpensive. That said the service was slow and inattentive as we sat for nearly 10 minutes without seeing a server as she was busy taking the orders of the above mentioned "barefoot locals" which were seated after us. But even putting all of that aside, the food was mediocre at best and my wife had to send her 18 dollar crab cakes back because they were so oily and greasy that they were not edible. The second attempt was worse and she ended up leaving without eating. The manager was curt and making excuses which quite frankly we were not interested in hearing. Q&As

Coconut Green Curry Mussels is our signature dish in our restaurant. For catering I would have to say our most popular dish is our marinated Teres Major with Blackberry Salsa and our Signature Whidbey Salad.

We sent out our menu and our clientele is able to pick and choose items they are interested in getting a quote on. We can also prepare most anything but we do make every attempt to stay true to our specialties.

The amazing team we have working for us, incredible clientele that we meet every day, and pride in the food we put on display!

Always wanted to have a restaurant on the water that provides quality steaks and seafood.

I think our clients should choose whomever they are most comfortable conversing with. I understand budget constraints clients face and only wish to help meet their respective budgets. We are going to provide quality of food and beautiful displays for our clients guests every time.
