Fresh Start for the Mind

I honestly don’t think I could ever fully express how grateful I am to have found Dr. Natasha Thomas nine years ago.I went to many different psychiatrists in the past but usually didn’t return after one or two visits because I’m a relatively shy person and never felt comfortable or optimistic leaving their offices for one reason or another. Finding the right doctor is such a stressful, overwhelming process that I wasn’t sure finding hope and comfort was even possible until I met with Dr. Thomas the first time. Now, I always leave the Fresh Start office in a better mood than I arrived in even if I’m going through a hard time. Dr. Thomas has gone above and beyond what I would ever expect from a healthcare professional so many times when I have been in rough spots because she genuinely cares and wants the best for her patients. I never feel like I’m being treated like a “client” and instead I always feel like I am meeting up with a teammate to work together and tackle whatever it is that I’m struggling with. I have followed her wherever she has gone through office transitions and gladly drive an hour (without traffic) out of my way for my appointments. I am in a drastically better place than I was nine years ago and so much of it is thanks to Dr. Thomas. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a psychiatrist who is incredible at their profession, compassionate and wonderful to meet with her. You won’t regret it. As far as the front office goes, they are also equally as great. Everyone is always kind and warm during interacts in person or over the phone. The waiting room is comfortable and I never wait more then ten minutes after I arrive before going in. Lastly, for anyone this may apply to who might be nervous or hesitant about going to a new psychiatrist for fear of judgement, Dr. Thomas is also LGBTQ friendly. :) More...

Fresh Start does a great at making the atmosphere diminutive and inviting.Doctor Thomas is a gift from god. She is very accessible. How many doctors will return your call/email the same day and then follow up to ascertain your taken care of? She is one of the very few that does this and I am grateful to her.She doesn't judge. **I spoke with the owner and she was very kind and adamant about fixing my complaints as well as making steps to make things better for the future. I really appreciate that and while I still stand by what I said with my experience, I think the owner showed a lot of professionalism to make my and future experiences better.**There are a lot of better offices to go to that aren't as expensive or difficult. When I was doing my initial psychological meeting, she was crunching out numbers instead of really listening, and I wasn't told what the evaluation would consist of in terms of what they would do. They weren't empathetic at all when I asked for an earlier appointment, and then they told me a month before my appointment that Dr. Thomas wouldn't be in the office the week of my appointment, and I couldn't come in until the beginning of the next month. After I told them that appointment was something I desperately needed, and they told me, basically, that it wasn't their problem, they then made me wait longer because she took off after appointments were scheduled. Then about a month ago, I was texted and called about an appointment I had never scheduled coming up, and when I called she didn't just cancel it. She made me wait to see who scheduled it and almost sounded as if she wouldn't cancel it. I would have been charged for not showing up for an appointment I never even made. I'm sure Dr. Thomas is nice, but I had a poor experience here. And I know they're going to respond in the positive for them and the negative for me to defend whatever they did and act like I was the problem/they didn't do anything wrong and I'm complaining for nothing, so that's fine. Highly recommend! When I found Dr. Brooke and Fresh Start for the Mind, I was at my "wits end" with trying to find the right counselling, help, and support for my boys. Throughout the years, I have had interactions with several different doctor's and therapists in the office and each one excelled in their area of expertise. ~Dr. Dale Goodman is very personable and compassionate, he was able to build great rapport with my boys, and really listened to them. ~We ABSOLUTELY love, Dr. Kirsten Ramey, she is an extraordinary support for not only my children but for my family as well. Her deep understanding and relationship with the boys is invaluable. We'd hate to see her go.~Dr. Brooke Jones is wonderful, her evaluations gave me much insight into my boys, and every staff recommendation she suggested was able to give us excellent support in their area. My personal experiences with Dr. Jones are phenomenal and I have enjoyed my past sessions with Dr. Thomas as well. Finding this practice was a blessing and Godsend for me and my family. More...

Dr. Natasha Thomas has been working with my daughter for two years. I could not ask for a more compassionate and knowledgeable practitioner. She challenges her and holds her accountable. Most importantly she equips her with strategies she can use to navigate her day to day life. She also works with the family to provide that additional layer of support. Thank you Dr. Thomas!!!!!
