We have used Freeland for many years for our wedding, our newborn shoots and most recently a update to our family picture. Freeland’s atmosphere, customer service and delivering a detailed quality product has always been top notch. Down to earth family oriented company in downtown Lee's summit mo. We have chosen them to be our wedding photographer. But not o ly do they just do photos for all shorts off different things they also hold classes on teaching you how to properly work your camera. We've used Freeland Photography for their baby plan. We actually purchased two of the package so we can capture our baby girl every 3 months. They have given us plenty of time for whatever creative poses we wanted and suggestions from them. I'm able to easily pay them online and download full quality JPEGs from each session within a week. I've never felt pressured into spending more than we are and I really feel that my money is going towards the photographers experience and tools. More...

Highly recommend! I will most certainly echo my wife's statements below without hopefully repeating too many of her comments. I could not have been more pleased with Mike and everyone at Freeland Photography. From our first initial meeting through ordering and receiving our wedding photo book, my wife and I have been nothing but amazed with the work Freeland has presented. What stuck out in my mind was the passion that Mike and his staff showed for our wedding. Freeland photographs multiple weddings most weekends, but you can tell it is their passion and their goal to capture what are some of the most important memories of a couple's journey together. Mike with Freeland Photography is amazing. I took a photography class there and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We have used Mike and his photographers many times for our family fall photos. We have always been extremely pleased with the results. I get compliments all the time on the photos from friends and coworkers. Many of my friends have used Freeland for their wedding photographer and the results were beautiful. I have not had any services rendered by Freeland Photography personally. However, I know Mike Freeland personally, and have seen much of their work.

I have seen a couple of reviews here that seem to be trying to publically ruin the image of his business, and they both seem unsubstantiated. One of the reviews claim to have seen some kind of video with sexual content in it. Knowing Mike, I have an extremely hard time beliving this. Mike would not let this kind of behavior exist in his place of business. Most people have camera phones, especially those capable of leaving a Google review, and should be able to provide some kind of evidence of this happening. Due to this lack of evidence, I can only request that anyone reading these reviews consider this claim absolute nonsense.

As far as the lack of professionalism and lack of attentiveness of the employees, this is another claim that lacks any sort of credibility to me. Again, due to the character I know in Mike, these practices would not be tolerated.

Now, as far as quality. I studied photography for three years in highschool, have taken several weddings, done several portrait sessions, and I have done much self study in the 10 years since I graduated. It is a hobby that I enjoy deeply, and am passionate about. I am extremely critical of my own work, and (though I don't deserve to be) I am very critical of the work of others. This being said, I have seen much of the work by Freeland Photography, and I can't honestly say I've seen anything less than fantastic. Anyone who can look at any of the photographs from this company and say they're anything less than absolutely wonderful needs professional help.

In regards to the statement made that the reviewers wish to remain anonymous: if you believe in your negative review enough to make it, put your name behind it. Don't be a coward and actually stand behind the statements you make. It will put more credibility behind them. If you feel the need to make statements that have the potential to ruin a company's image, then make sure they're true, and make sure they can be verified. Again, don't be a coward.

To sum it up: you'd be hard pressed to find a better run, more professional, or better quality photography company in the area. More...

I am a wedding planner in KC and have worked with the wonderful photographers at Freeland Photography many times. They are amazing to work with, so professional and polite and their work is stunning. They answer emails fast and prompt and all of my brides rave about how great they are and how excited they are to have them photograph their wedding. They always tell me how comfortable they feel around them and say that from the first meeting they knew they would book Freeland because they just knew how great of an all around experience it would be. Mike and Crew are amazing to work with! Mike is very talented photographer and great guy to be around! Mike and Crew photographed 2 family weddings, photographed our newborn children. All with amazing results and all around great experience from beginning to end. Their new studio in downtown Lees Summit is state of the art! Very nice reception area with many personal, wedding and studio prints on display. There is a great area where we can change outfits between shots, very unique backdrops for the kids. LOVE them. Unlike others who listed reviews, I am an ACTUAL client of Freeland Photography. I got married on September 6th 2014 in the Crossroads district in Kansas City. Getting married was obviously my #1 goal that day, but my 2nd goal was to find the best photographers to capture those moments. Both Michael and his team were extremely professional and courteous. They went above and beyond in their duties. For example, I was getting my hair and makeup done(they sent 1 photographer with me), and little did I know that back at the venue our decorations vendor, did not even show up with the supplies…they left us high and dry. My poor parents and family were frantically calling local vendors and trying to find someone who could help us within just 2 hours of the ceremony. What did Freeland Photography do? They helped! Michael was working side by side with my family, calling vendors and helping to resolve the issue. He easily could have sat back and thought, “Not my problem.” But he was actively involved and was provided support beyond what he was hired for. My mom told that he was so supportive and she was so thankful he was there to help. My pictures just came back a few weeks ago, and they are PERFECT. I’m a very tough critic when it comes to photography (and spoke to multiple vendors before choosing Freeland), these images perfectly captured our day, and they bring tears to my eyes every time I look at them. After I posted these pictures to Facebook, so many comments like, “I L-O-V-E these pictures”, “You had an amazing photographer”, “These are simply perfect.” They captured so many candid moments that we will cherish forever.
