Four Seasons Hotel Chicago

We stayed at the Four Seasons for a few nights while in Chicago on vacation. ||||The hotel is fairly well situated. While we were in Chicago, we visited Willis Tower, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and the River Walk. None of them are really within walking distance of the hotel, but they're all about a five minute Uber away.||||We booked two rooms, which were right next to each other and were mirror images. While the hotel lobby is around about the 7th floor, the rooms start somewhere near the 30th floor, so there really are no low-floor rooms. We had rooms on or around the 40th or so floor, facing back towards the city (rather than the lake). While I expect the view on the other side of the building is better, our 'city view' was nothing to sneeze at. Both rooms were very nicely appointed, spacious, clean and modern -- as you would expect. ||||As we booked through the Amex Fine Hotels program, we received a $100 property credit, $60 per day breakfast credit per room, and guaranteed late checkout (which we availed ourselves of). Given that the room rates were quite reasonable, that really is fantastic value. ||||The hotel has a restaurant where we ate breakfast each morning. The options are diverse, and the food was excellent.||||Where the Four Seasons really shined though was the staff. Right from the moment of our check-in, the attention to detail and personal touch really elevated the experience. The servers and staff in the restaurant remembered us, even down to our orders and preferences, and welcomed us back each day. The housekeeping staff also did an excellent job -- they even noticed that we had glasses and left a cleaner for them, tidied our personal items in the bathroom, and tied up our phone chargers each day. The staff at the bar were very attentive, welcoming, and genuinely fun to interact with.||||Overall my experience was extremely positive and I plan to stay at the same property next time I'm in Chicago. I have stayed at this hotel twice, and have always been impressed. My most recent stay was during the holidays, so I loved all of the festive holiday decorations. It's the perfect location: close to the lake, Water Tower Place, and great food options in the area. I also took my nephew to the pool which he absolutely loved. It was super peaceful in there, and I would love to go back again solely for the ambiance. The front desk did get a little busy during check out hours, but one of the staff members apologized for the wait, offered his assistance and gave me a bottle of water while I waited. More...

You don’t realize what you’re missing in a hotel stay until you visit the Four Seasons. They anticipated every need I had and needs I didn’t even know I had - like leaving me a really bookmark for my book on my nightstand. The staff were extremely friendly and go out their way to help out. We were traveling on business for my husband and received a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in! The fitness room is on the smaller size, working out in the morning I was restricted to only cardio. We truly enjoyed our stay at Four Seasons Chicago. Everyone was amazing, from receptionist at check-in who upgraded our room to suite, to bellboys, concierge, and all other staff that we interacted with. Dinner at Allium was exceptionally good. In the current day of chrome and glitz, the Four Seasons Hotel stands asa grand dame of fine living. The ambience of the hotel is supported by the decor with its dark wood and traditional furnishings and enhanced by the attentive and friendly staff both provide an memorable experience. We had a lovely room - full suite with two bathrooms. The technology in the room trails the Peninsula. Staff are friendly, but again, just one step behind. We spent more that 100 nights at Four Seasons in 2019 - Hualalai and Surf Club. Both of those have staffs that are a bit more on top of things. Dining is another area this property could use a boost. Nice hotel with a great location a couple blocks north of the Water Tower. Our high-floor 1BR suite had spectacular views north and east over the lake. However, parts of the room felt in need of a touch up / renovation (some peeling wallpaper, nicks etc.)||||The staff generally provided the usual excellent Four Seasons service, though seating at brunch was limited and service lacking (needing to hunt down the waiter, utensils and foods running out at the buffet, etc). ||||Overall a nice experience but not enough that I would again pay a premium to the other excellent 5* hotels that are within a few blocks. We stay here annually for our 'staycation'. The hotel is in a convenient location and guest rooms are very comfortable. My kids (7 and 5) are always welcomed with a trip to the 'treasure chest' and have a welcome amenity on the beds in our room. This year we had cookies and milk awaiting at our check-in as well. The kids also love the pool and could spend the day there, especially in the winter. Overall it's a great place to stay in Chicago. More...

This was such a luxurious stay. I booked it after winning a big court case against my ex husband and needing a serious break from life. I got a great deal on a room, and I can't believe the service and amenities for that price. Everything smelled good, the beds felt like clouds in heaven, the pool was straight out of a Greek god's mansion. I'm a tea afficionado and they had an incredible tea selection. Everyone was so helpful and nice and made it so relaxing and pleasurable. The only thing I didn't love was my massage. It was ok, but not great, I prefer the Peninsula's spa and spa services. I have traveled extensively both domestic and internationally, and I must say that the Four Seasons Chicago is perhaps one of the finest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of being a guest. The staff, service, cuisine, accommodations, and location are all superb. I'd like to specifically mention the staff from the front desk & Allium restaurant. I didn't catch everyone's name, but Tripper, Brooke, Rachel, Thomas, and many others provided impeccable service. The housekeeping staff also went above and beyond in their cleanliness and duties. I booked a 4 day sightseeing trip with my 12 year old niece and the Four Seasons made the trip even more memorable for her by giving her cute little gifts each day and by the concierge giving us such great recommendations on where to go and what to see. ||The room was perfect. Very spacious with a Great Lake view. Room service and housekeeping were top notch. Excellent turn down service every evening. ||Special thanks to the night manager, Raul Ibarra, who showed great kindness and professionalism when I had a dispute with my credit card company. Been staying here for years. The rooms have recently been upgraded. The executive suite looked fantastic and was very functional. Desk is gone and replaced with a table and chairs. Best value at the luxury end. Have stayed at all the top hotels and the Four Seasons is more fairly priced. Breakfast is pricey but there are lots of good options in the neighborhood. Concierge was super helpful.
