Visited Fountain Therapies for the first time today for a Reiki session for my teenage daughter, who six months ago suddenly developed epilepsy. I decided to do some research into alternative therapies and I saw testimonials suggesting some sufferers of this condition have found Reiki to be beneficial. We arrived at Fountain Therapies and swiftly found ourselves with a very welcomed hot drink on what was a chilly morning! Sam took us into her treatment room which had a very relaxing atmosphere, with the help of the soft glow of a salt lamp coupled with gentle music. Sam noted down my daughter's history and fully explained to us what she would be doing and how Reiki works. My daughter then laid down on the couch and the treatment began. She found it very relaxing and Sam answered any questions that we had, and explained exactly what she was doing and sensing. Whether this directly will have a positive effect on my daughter's condition may be difficult to say. What she experienced was extreme relaxation, and as with any ailment or condition, that can only be a good thing. Cannot recommend highly enough. More...

Have now had two osteopathy appointments with Marion at 'Fountain Therapies' and I really do feel like a new woman - no pain, better posture & feel straighter! ! I had been struggling with an old shoulder injury on and off for 6 years, tried all sorts (predominately physio) but never really sorted it. When I went to Marion for my first app a couple of weeks ago I was in a good deal of pain and pretty desperate but found the work she did on me brought such relief and was so beneficial, I haven't looked back. I just wish I had found her sooner - would have saved myself a lot of pain, time & money! Thanks again :-) More...

Had a demonstration of Physiospect with Sam today, and was blown away at how good it was. I’ve been in constant pain with my head and neck for many years and after just a few minutes of being with Sam I could move my neck much better and my headache started to ease. Sam was even able to tell me where my pain was with pinpoint accuracy without me saying a word to her. I would definitely recommend this treatment to people and will be going back for myself in the very near future. Thanks again Sam x More...

Acupuncture is a system of healthcare originating in China and other Far eastern cultures, where it remains a key component in standalone healthcare worldwide, and more and more people in the UK are discovering how acupuncture can benefit them.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works to help maintain the body’s natural balance. The insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body help regulate the flow of energy(qi). This energy can sometimes become disturbed or depleted resulting in symptoms of pain or illness.
Acupuncture aims to restore , balance and promote harmony, both physical and emotional. Treatment is aimed at addressing the cause of the condition holistically in addition to treating the symptoms. Patients may notice other complaints and problems are resolved as the treatment progresses.

How can Acupuncture help me?

People turn to acupuncture for help with specific conditions, as well as for help maintaining general good health. Others look to acupuncture to improve their sense of well-being.
Because acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than isolated symptoms, it can be effective for a range of conditions. Many people return to acupuncture again and again, finding it both beneficial and relaxing.
People seek treatment for conditions such as:
Muscular-skeletal pain conditions such as back/neck/shoulder pain, Sciatica, etc.) migraines and headaches, menstrual problems. digestive issues, such as IBS, stress, anxiety and depression.

What is CransioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-intrusive therapy which through gentle touch releases restrictions, tension and pain in the body; complementing the body’s natural healing process and aiming to boost your health and well being
It is often appropriate as a therapy when others are not:
• immediately after surgery or injury
• during pregnancy
• from birth
• for the elderly
• for those who are in poor health
• for chronic and acute conditions

Benefits of CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is effective for a wide range of medical problems and injuries and is increasingly used as a preventative health measure as it is able to improve the body’s natural resistance to disease and complement the body’s natural healing process.
• Migraines and headaches
• Chronic neck and back pain
• Autism
• Stress and tension-related disorders
• Motor-coordination impairments
• Infant and childhood disorders
• Brain and spinal cord injuries
• Chronic fatigue
• Fibromyalgia
• TMJ syndrome
• Dental disorders
• Scoliosis
• Central nervous system disorders
• Learning disabilities
• ADD/ADHD
• Post-trumatic stress disorder
• Orthopedic problems
• and many other conditions

What happens during a CranioSacral Therapy treatment?
During a treatment you remain fully clothed, usually lying on a couch, although you can be seated.
A feather like touch is used on the body to allow the release of tension, pain and restrictions in the body. This can be very relaxing and a feeling of calm and relaxation is usually felt.
This gentle touch allows people of any age from new born to advanced old age to be treated safely and for treatments to be given straight after surgery or injury.
A CranioSacral Therapy treatment will usually be for 60 minutes although 30, 90 minutes and longer are available.
CranioSacral Therapy as any treatment, conventional or complementary, is not a quick fix; as the body needs to unwind and correct itself in a healthy and safe manner to release the tension and restrictions. In some cases symptoms can go immediately; but deeper tension and chronic conditions may take longer to be released and in such cases 3-6 sessions are more usual.

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treating the individual with highly diluted substances, given mainly in tablet form, with the aim of triggering the body’s natural system of healing. Based on their specific symptoms, a homeopath will match the most appropriate medicine to each patient.

Its origins – The principle of treating “like with like” dates back to Hippocrates (460-377BC) but in its current form, homeopathy has been widely used worldwide for more than 200 years. It was discovered by a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, who, shocked with the harsh medical practises of the day (which included blood-letting, purging and the use of poisons such as arsenic), looked for a way to reduce the damaging side-effects associated with medical treatment.

He began experimenting on himself and a group of healthy volunteers, giving smaller and smaller medicinal doses, and found that as well as reducing toxicity, the medicines actually appeared to be more effective the lower the dose. He also observed that symptoms caused by toxic ‘medicines’ such as mercury, were similar to those of the diseases they were being used to treat e.g. syphilis, which lead to the principle he described as ‘like cures like’. Hahnemann went on to document his work, and his texts formed the foundations of homeopathic medicine as it is practised today. A BBC Radio 4 documentary aired in December 2010 described Hahnemann as a medical pioneer who worked tirelessly to improve medical practice, insisting that medicines were tested before use.

Like with like

Homeopathy is based on the principle that you can treat ‘like with like’, that is, a substance which causes symptoms when taken in large doses, can be used in small amounts to treat those same symptoms. For example, drinking too much coffee can cause sleeplessness and agitation, so according to this principle, when made into a homeopathic medicine, it could be used to treat people with these symptoms.

This concept is sometimes used in conventional medicine, for example, the stimulant Ritalin is used to treat patients with ADHD, or small doses of allergens such as pollen are sometimes used to de-sensitise allergic patients. However, one major difference with homeopathic medicines is that substances are used in ultra high dilutions, which makes them non-toxic.

The science

Homeopathic medicines (called remedies) are prepared by specialist pharmacies using a careful process of dilution and succussion (a specific form of vigorous shaking). As yet, science has not been able to explain the mechanism of action of ultra high dilutions in the body, but laboratory experiments have repeatedly demonstrated that homeopathically prepared substances cause biological effects.

One theory is that during the production of a homeopathic medicine, the dilution and agitation processes cause an interaction between the original material (e.g. a plant such as Belladonna) and the water and alcohol it is mixed with. This creates tiny new structures (nanostructures) which are the ‘active ingredient’ and remain present even when the sample has been diluted many, many times.

What is herbal medicine?

Herbal medicine, or phytotherapy, is about using the innate healing power of plants to gently restore a balanced state of health, also known as homeostasis.

But it’s also far more than that. Herbal medicine is humanity’s most ancient system of health management: tombs have been excavated dating back over 60,000 years that contain numerous medicinal plants, buried with the occupant to ensure health in the afterlife. We have evolved alongside plants, and the phytochemicals they contain are perfectly matched to our own physiological needs. Herbs are essential sources of complex nutrients otherwise missing from today’s oversimplified diets. And, because of their subtle energetic properties – and many that are not so subtle! – it is possible to perfectly match a herbal prescription to the needs of the individual.

Supporting humanity for millennia, yet holding the power to address many conditions against which ‘modern’ medicine is powerless, herbal medicine is truly the medicine of the past and of the future.

Natural remedies for every body

Herbal medicine treats the person, not the condition, and therefore has the potential to help anyone and everyone. Herbal medicine has been used for centuries to support the optimal functioning of multiple organ systems: nervous, digestive, the organs of detoxification – liver, kidney, bowels, skin and lymph – endocrine – i.e. the hormonal system – cardiovascular, respiratory and reproductive…the list goes on.

NATUROPATH

What is a Naturopath?

A Naturopath is a health practitioner who applies natural therapies. Her/his spectrum comprises far more than fasting, nutrition, water, and exercise; it includes approved natural healing practices such as Homeopathy, Acupuncture, and Herbal Medicine, as well as the use of modern methods like Bio-Resonance, Ozone-Therapy, and Colon Hydrotherapy. At a time when modern technology, environmental pollution, poor diet, and stress play a significant role in the degradation of health, a Naturopath’s ability to apply natural methods of healing is of considerable importance. Frequently, a Naturopath is the last resort in a patient’s long search for health. Providing personalised care to each patient, the naturopath sees humankind as a holistic unity of body, mind, and spirit.

Using a range of alternative methods of diagnosis, a Naturopath can often successfully pin-point a predisposition in the body, before the onset of acute disease, and treat the patient with specific therapies and changes in the patient’s lifestyle.

What does a treatment consist of?

An initial consultation with a Naturopath normally takes about an hour. During this time the Naturopath will ask questions about the person’s condition, medical history, diet and lifestyle, and any conventional treatments that they may be taking. The consulting Naturopath may then use Iridology (looking into the iris), or tongue and nail diagnosis to get a better picture of the complete health state of the client. If needed, pathology testing such as hair, stool, or blood analysis may be recommended. Once all of the information is gathered, a treatment plan is formulated that addresses all areas of the person’s life, providing the body with the optimum chance to heal itself. The treatment plan may include advice on diet, lifestyle, exercise, herbal medicine, homeopathic treatments, or other suitable remedies. A Naturopath may also refer the client to other practitioners as part of an integrated health care approach.

Hypnotherapy is a skilled verbal communication, used during hypnosis, which helps direct a client’s imagination in such a way as to bring about intended alterations in sensations, perceptions, feelings, thoughts and behaviour. In a typical hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist will ask the client questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle. The hypnotherapist and client will decide together on the changes or goals that are desired.

Hypnotherapy can be applied to a wide range of medical, dental and psychological problems. Areas of application include anxiety and stress conditions, weight control, addictive behaviours (including smoking, alcohol and substance misuse) and confidence issues. Hypnotherapy is also used to enhance performance in several areas such as sport and public speaking.

Types of Hypnotherapy

As a client you do not need to understand the different types of hypnotherapy as your therapist will aim to ensure that they use the best methods to suit you as an individual and your particular issues. As every person is different the best results will be obtained by utilizing the methods that each person will respond to. Your therapist may have studied and/or trained using a specific type of hypnotherapy may have studied a number of different models (or modalities). For example:

In “Traditional Hypnosis” the therapist gives direct suggestions to the unconscious mind. This type of hypnosis works well with those who accept what they are told.
In “Ericksonian Hypnosis,” the therapist will use metaphors to give suggestions and ideas to your unconscious mind. This can be very effective because it helps to eliminate the resistance to change that may come from the conscious mind.

When you first meet with your therapist and discuss the issues you want to work on they will work out a programme of treatment with you and explain what will happen next. (If you want to find out more information about the different models of hypnotherapy then do ask your therapist).

Most hypnosis cassettes and DVDs use “Traditional Hypnosis” techniques. This is the reason why this method has only a partial success rate as it is not very effective for people who are critical or analytical in their thinking processes.

Improve and enhance your interpersonal communication at the office and at home.

What is Iridology?

Iridology is based on the scientific study of the iris — the coloured part of the eye. Like markings on a map, the iris reveals physiological conditions, psychological health risks, challenges and/or strengths of various organs and personality traits.

Through iridology we can get an understanding of your past, present, and potential future health conditions by assessing the various body systems. Your inherited tendencies compounded by toxic accumulations in various parts of your body are also revealed.

The Science of Iridology is based on the analogy of one of the most complicated tissue structures of the whole body – the iris.

It is a method whereby the doctor or health practitioner can tell, from markings or signs in the iris, the reflex condition of various organs and systems of the body. These markings represent a detailed picture of the integrity of the body; it’s constitutional potentials, areas of congestion or toxic accumulations and inherent challenges and gifts.

The four principles that form the cornerstones of iridology are:

The condition of the nerves
The condition of the blood and lymph system
Adequate circulation
Nutrition – rest quality, breathing – state of mind

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialised form of massage that has powerful cleansing, relaxing, pain relieving & immunological effects. It is a gentle, flowing, rhythmic massage and can be applied to a wide range of physical conditions to great effect and has the added bonus of being a very relaxing treatment. Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps to detoxify the body and stimulate the body’s immune system to promote healing and to fight infection. The light massage of the lymphatic system helps the body move excess toxins, water and metabolic waste in a way that cleanses the body and promotes the immune system and healing.

Benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage can help undo the effects of a lifestyle such as eating too many processed foods/generally poor diet, lack of fluids, lack of exercise, regular flying on aircraft, stressful job, hectic home life.

It is an effective treatment for a variety of issues and their secondary effects including:

oedema, swollen ankles/legs, puffy eyes
water retention
poor circulation
lymphoedema
skin disorders, acne, rosacea, cellulite
detox and cleansing
autoimmune disorders
headache
general tiredness
sinus congestion
stress, anxiety, tension
pain and oedema from fractures, sprains, arthritis, rheumatism
conditions arising from venous insufficiency
digestive disorders, excess weight
tissue congestion and minimising scar formation before and after surgery
relieving oedema, fibrosis, pain and tension after post-mastectomy therapy
generally promotes the body to heal its self through boosting of the immune system

Is it suitable for me?
Due to the nature of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage and the movement and removal of toxins and excess water from the body, this treatment is not suitable for everyone, depending on their current state of health and severity of their condition.

You will not be able to receive an MLD treatment if you have any of the following without a referral from your GP or specialist. However, you may receive a CranioSacral Therapy treatment which can strength your immune and lymphatic system:

Acute infectious/early onset inflammatory disease such as cellulitis (a bacterial infection, not cellulite), erysipelas (streptococcus infection), flu, active tuberculosis.
Active cancer/undiagnosed lump
Malignant melanomas
Thrombosis or where there is a risk of embolism and phlebitis
Major heart problems

If you have any other chronic conditions or have had transplants or major surgery please call to discuss your treatment options and I may suggest that you first contact your GP for a referral. If you make an appointment and I cannot give you MLD then I may be able to offer alternative therapies that may be suitable for your current condition that would be beneficial to you.

What happens during an MLD massage?
After taking some medical details to ensure that a suitable and safe treatment is given for your current health I will ask you what you are expecting of the Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage both long and short term and if there are certain areas where you would like the Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage to be concentrated.

I will then explain what happens during the treatment session and then leave the room for you to undress as needed and to your comfort level and cover yourself on the couch.

Please remember this is your treatment. Let me know at any time if you would would like lighter or firmer pressure, if you feel discomfort in a particular area, if you start to feel cold or if you need to move position due to pain or discomfort.

At the end of the MLD massage I will ensure that you are awake and clear headed and leave the room to allow you to dress. Having some water to drink after the MLD massage will help to flush your system of the toxins that have been released.

No oils, powders or creams are used during the MLD massage.

How many treatments will I need?
Depending on your current state of health and the severity of your condition, you may need between 3 and 10 treatments which would last between 15 minutes and up to 90 minutes. The frequency of your visits would again be dependent upon the reason for your visit. Preventative treatments such as for those whose lifestyle makes then susceptible to a sluggish lymphatic system (cabin crew) may come once a month or less for an hours treatment.

To ensure your treatment is as effective as possible and reduce the number of treatments, I may suggest some changes to your lifestyle or some simple/easy exercises to help improve the flow of your lymphatic system generally.

Are there any side effects to the treatment?
There are usually no bad side effects and it is perfectly safe to eat before and after an MLD massage. It is normal that you may need to go to the toilet more often over the next 24 / 48 hours as the lymphatic system starts to remove excess fluid and waste and you may see a reduction in any oedema. Sometimes you may feel tired or get a headache, you may also feel really energised, a reduction in pain, relaxed and have a greater sense of well-being and vitality. These are all good signs that the treatment is working.

It will increase the benefits of the treatments and reduce any side effects if you keep yourself hydrated after your treatment by drinking plain warm water and exercise regularly.

Holistic Massage is ideal for everyone, it should be seen as an essential to improve and maintain your whole health, mind and body, although an occasional treat will make you feel wonderful. Osteopathy

“Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance where possible, without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms occuring.” (General Osteopathic Council – GOSC)

What can Osteopathy help?
Lower Back Pain (+/- Sciatica)
Neck and Upper Back Pain
Joint Pain – Shoulders / Elbows / Wrists / Hands / Hips / Knees / Feet
Sports Injuries
The affects of trauma – eg. Whiplash
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)
Postural Problems
Stiffness associated with aging
Headaches
Musculoskeletal symptoms associated with chronic conditions. eg. Osteoarthritis & Asthma
– If you are uncertain whether osteopathy can help with your particular complaint, just give me a call for free advice.

What is Cranial Osteopathy?

Another aspect of osteopathy that is a very gentle approach (but can have powerful effects!), is Cranial Osteopathy. It focuses on relieving stress and tension throughout the body. Cranial osteopaths are trained to feel for subtle changes of rhythms in the cranium, spinal column and nervous system. Tension and torsions are released with specific subtle techniques. This treatment encourages the body to be balanced and find optimum health. Cranial treatments are effective in addressing a wide range of conditions in people of all ages, from birth to old age.

Osteopathy for Babies and Children

Birth is one of the most stressful events our bodies will encounter. The compressive forces can contribute to musculoskeletal complaints in babies’ bodies, and can commonly cause signs of irritability. These include –
Inconsolable Crying
Signs of ‘Colic’
Sleep Disturbances
Problems Feeding
Problems with Winding, Burping or Bowel Movements
Sinusitis and Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders
These complaints can arise if the birth process is particulaly traumatic; very long or very short. For example if a baby engages in the womb in an awkward position, a delivery aid is necessary like forceps or ventouse, or a c-section is performed.
The bones of a babies head and body are particularly mobile to aid their passage through the birth canal, and the external forces of birth can distort nerves travelling between the cranial bones and result in the above signs of irritability.
Cranial osteopathy is gentle, safe and effective for babies and children. Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary to assist the natural ability of the body to release this stress and tension.

Osteopathy for Pregnant Women

Osteopathy can also help pregnant and post natal women. Treatment helps the mother prepare for, and adapt to the postural changes that occur in pregnancy.
Changes that Osteopathy can help with includes back and neck pain, headaches, SPD and pelvic pain, shoulder pain and tension in the thoracic and pelvic diaphragms – which predisposes the mother to problems like heartburn or varicose veins.Post natal treatment helps the body function return to normal, and resolves tension from the changes of pregnancy and the effects of delivery. If not dealt with these can predispose a mother to problems like back pain, headaches, stress incontinence and bowel disruptions, all of which could contribute to postnatal depression. A mother is usually advised to return for treatment 4-6 weeks after birth to help restore their body to normal function.

This software tool may be able to detect and analyze the strengths and weaknesses in the human body.Ailments may be years from a conventional diagnosis. Physiospect software finds out how stressed an organ is, and if there are any diseases developing. This could be helpful in acute and chronic states that evade diagnosis. Micro-organisms & Parasites that not have been detected by a conventional blood test, might be picked up by the Physiospect.

The device scans each organ or tissue on a cellular level. It compares the measurements to a database of thousands of referenced conditions and their diagnosis. Physiospect uses a laser to modulate the carrier frequency for the cell communication and it uses special readers built into headphones to read the cells own signals. (In a nutshell, the brain receives the correct signals to send healing energy to the affected part.)

After the scan and treatment (if any is required), the client is advised to drink plenty of water during the day, as this helps the vibrational therapy to resonate with the healing response. They are also advised during the session, if there is a chronic ailment that they are not aware of, to speak to the Medical Practitioner at their earliest convenience.

For Alternative Therapists, the Physiospect displays the following options to use during a treatment:

Meta-therapy (Magnetic Therapy); Homeopathy; Crystal Therapy, Phytotherapy, TCM; Allopathy (this gives a list of conventional drugs that may be helpful in a clients path to better health. Of course, these can only be prescribed by a Medical Healthcare Practitioner).

Physiospect does not provide specific medical advice, and is not engaged in providing medical and professional services. Use of Physiospect does not replace medical consultations with a qualified health or medical professional to meet health and medical

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and person’s general health.

For example, reflexology holds that a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the bladder point. When a reflexology practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to apply appropriate pressure to this area, it affects bladder functioning.

Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, millions of people around the world use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like infertility, anxiety, asthma, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis to name a few

Reflexology is growing increasingly popular across Europe and Asia as both a complement to other treatments and as a preventative measure. One example is Denmark, where various municipalities and companies have employed reflexologists since the early ’90s.

According to several studies, this practice in Denmark has resulted in reduced sick leave and absenteeism (and significant economic savings for the employers). Employees have consistently reported complete or partial improvement in conditions where they sought reflexologists’ help and even relief for additional problems related to stress. In one municipal district, almost one-third of the employees reported greater satisfaction with their jobs after completing six sessions with a reflexologist.
What are the reflexology points and areas?

In reflexology theory, points and areas on the feet and hands, correspond to specific organs, bones and body systems. Practitioners access these points on the feet and hands (bottom, sides, and top) to affect organs and systems throughout the entire body. To represent how the body systems correspond to one another, reflexologists use reflexology “maps.” A good example of a reflexology map exists for the feet. Each foot represents a vertical half of the body:

The left foot corresponds to the left side of the body and all organs, systems, etc. found there.

The right foot corresponds to the right side of the body and all organs found there. For example, the liver is on the right side of the body, and therefore the corresponding reflex area is on the right foot.

A reflexologist may perform a general, integrated session, or may focus on specific problems areas on the feet, or hands. For example, if time is limited and the person really needs to relax, the reflexologist may choose just to work the nervous system. Whatever the approach, the reflexologist attempts to release congestion or stress in all the systems and muscles, balance the body’s energy and restore homeostasis.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki is a gentle, but powerful hands-on healing technique that treats the whole person; physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It is a natural energy, flowing wherever it is needed to support the body’s natural healing process.
A Reiki treatment is a deeply relaxing and re-energising treatment to encourage healing and helping to balance the body’s energy system to promote a healthy mind and body.
Benefits of receiving Reiki
Reiki and other forms of energy healing can be used safely and effectively with all conventional and other complementary therapies to reduce any negative feelings, create optimism, reduce healing time, reduce or eliminate pain and reduce tension and stress.
Reiki will support you emotionally and physically when going through treatment and recovery and will help and support carers at this time as well.
• Deeply relaxing
• Reduces stress, tension and anxiety
• Reduces pain
• Balances you physically and emotionally
• Supports your immune system
• Re-energises your body and mind
• Helps you to deal with difficult situations
• Enhances your intuition and awareness
• Safe to use on anyone at any time
• Use safely with other complementary and convention treatments
• Supports your body’s normal functions for self healing
• Clears your energy paths and raises your vibrational frequency

What happens during a Reiki treatment?
Reiki can be a hands-on or a hands-off therapy that takes place whilst you lie or sit, fully clothed on a couch or chair. A Reiki treatment can be carried out in most situations and is suitable for those who are chair bound or bed bound. I will place my hands either on or above your body (your choice), avoiding all sensitive areas.
I may also use pure organic essential oils to work in your auric field to help balance the aura, chakras and meridians.
Most clients remain quiet and may fall asleep; others may feel the need to talk especially when I am working on particular which may be connected with a situation or person.
Before I finish I will ensure you are grounded to re-energise you and ensure you feel that you are back in the present time so that you can carry on with your day.
A treatment session can be anything from 30 minutes upwards. If Reiki is the only treatment then a 60 minute session is an ideal treatment time.
You will never receive more energy than your body can deal with, as, like a dried out plant, when you water it, most of the water will just run off and only a small amount is absorbed. If on the other hand you have a healthy plant then when watering it will absorb much more water, but still only as much as the soil can hold; the rest will run off. The body is the same; it will only absorb the amount of energy and healing that it is able to deal with at the time of the treatment.

Osteopathy, Massage and Homeopathy

Sports Therapy
Sports Therapy is concerned with injury prevention, injury assessment and the rehabilitation of patients back to full functional fitness in a safe, effective and efficient manner. When treating injuries, the main focus is to get them back to normal function, in as little time as possible. The main stages of approach include a detailed history of your injury and the effects it is having on your daily life. This will be followed by appropriate orthopaedic and neurological testing. Following a diagnosis being formed and discussed with you, a treatment and rehabilitation plan will be made for you. The injury will be re-assessed at every appointment to ensure your recovery is progressing optimally with the correct suited treatment.

Sports therapy is a combination of deep and soft tissue massage, stretching, mobilisation and electrotherapy, to improve the range of joint movement and general joint function. The session will also include home advice including stretches and exercises, and advice on methods of pain relief, as well as taking steps within the stages of rehabilitation, to regain full function.

Sports Taping

We use the Kinesio Taping® technique together with Kinesio Tex tape (this was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in Japan more than 25 yrs ago) and have completed the KT1 and KT2 training courses. Sports taping can be used to provide muscle and joint support whilst helping injured tissue to heal. It can help with the reduction of inflammation, help reduce muscle fatigue by relaxing overused muscles or facilitating underused muscles. The tape used is latex free, allows the skin to breathe, allows range of motion and can be worn for several days.
