I went to Foreign concept for dinner, the restaurant has a great ambiance, it wasn't too loud or crowded. Their service was exceptional, we asked lots of questions about the food and drinks, at one point our server asked the bartender to come and give us a commendation on a wine pairing which was really nice. We ordered a few appetizers, 2 main dishes and desserts. My favorites were the pickled vegetables!!, salt and pepper tofu and forbidden rice and coffee parfait. After coming once, this has become one of my favorite restaurants in Calgary. Every dish was packed full of flavor and each was completley different from the last. My family doesn't tend to like more exotic flavors but loved every dish we ordered. I only wish the lighting was a little brighter so we could more easily see the wonderful presentation of each dish. Foreign Concept is such a treat! The food and drinks are creative, accessible, and delicious. There are drinks and food that are (upgraded) variations on familiar favorites and combinations that I have never before seen. The service was equally impressive. Our server Tonya/ Tanya (?)was knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic, attentive, and helpful. I think we were lucky though, one server watched a serving spoon fall off our table, made eye contact with me, and walked away. So.....if I could give this mire than 5 stars I absolutely would. To start the service was fantastic! Our server was the only one working and she never missed a beat. She also made great recommendations as we were having a hard time deciding (it all looked so good). The atmosphere was lovely and very clean inside. When our food came, each and every dish was perfection!! My only regret is I was too full to keep ordering more. This is a must go to restaurant from now on when I am in Calgary. More...

We were here for a reunion dinner and absolutely impressed by the food and service! We got the Squid Ink Pasta, Char Siu pork and foie gras buns, short rib fried rice, trout, and tofu and enjoyed all of it. Will definitely be back soon!

This was our first time dining here and I would go back. The shed dish approach is fun with a couple or small group.We enjoyed the brussels spouts, found the cauliflower average, like the Begogi (sp? ) rolls. Date night out with my wife. I searched Vietnamese on Open Table and this came up as a suggestion. It was definitely more Korean Fusion than Vietnamese, but this was probably one of the best meals we have had at a restaurant in the past few years. We will definitely return again. I enjoyed the food and service at Foreign Concept, but I'm afraid my perception of the food may have been tainted by having eaten a similar meal at Anju the day before. I had a char siu pork bowl and honey butter chips. They were both good, but I felt like the Korean lunch set I got from Anju was tastier, and better value for a similar price. I love chips so the honey butter chips were exciting to me - crispy and sweet with a tangy lemon aioli that went perfectly with the chips. Nice portion, too. I took the remaining chips back to my hotel.The music was nice but a little on the loud side for my taste, especially for midday as opposed to evening when you might expect a hip bar/restaurant to have louder music. A friend took me here for a birthday dinner and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The food was just amazing, we had some tasty beverages and the atmosphere was great.
