Once again a lovely stay at forbes of kingennie, it is such a friendly welcoming place to stay we stayed in Glen isla Lodge which is superbly 6 equipped with all you need, so comfy, it's a wonderful place to chill, the restaurant has a lovely menu, very good food, superb staff, the place is central for visiting Dundee, Crombie country park, which Is recommended for a lovely walk, can't fault Forbes of kingennie in anyway.

Stayed October 2019 with a party of 1 adult and 2 teenagers in the "Glen Esk" lodge.||||The lodge was clean, quite tastefully furnished, and the beds were comfortable. All cooking/dining utensils were provided as was bed linen and towels.||||I would have given this a 5-star rating except for a couple of really annoying niggles:||1) The electric hot water system is abysmal. One shower uses all the hot water, so we had to rotate the times we used for showering. There is a boost timer on the water system, but it didn't appear to do anything.||Whilst the shower appears to be electric, but this only activates a pump and doesn't actually heat the water.||2) Water leaks under the shower screen and floods the bathroom floor||3) The design of the basin means that the tap is too near the back of the basin rendering it useless for hand washing - we used the bath taps!||4) Towels were supplied, but not changed over the course of our 5-day visit. The bathroom towel rail is too small to allow three towels to be effectively dried for re-use.||5) The sofa/chairs in the living area were quite uncomfortable||6) We only were able to watch terrestrial channels as the sky box gave an error message when trying to view sky channels.||||Apart from the hot water, we were comfortable in the lodge and probably will return in future. The off-season price meant that the lodge was considerably less expensive than nearby hotels (eg Premier Inn).||||There are facilities in the resort (Golf course, Driving Range, Putting, Fishing) which are discounted to guests staying in the lodges.||||There is a restaurant on site, but as we didn't use it I can't comment on its standard apart from saying it looks clean and welcoming. Brilliant place to go fishing. The choices were great, kids spinning on 1 pond whilst we got peace to enjoy some fly fishing on another pond.

Took mum yesterday for coffee and cake staff were lovely and services was great love that dogs are welcome as I had mine with me and they are made very welcome ,have also been in the restaurant and food is always lovely and great service. Would highly recommend

Really happy to report a smashing visit to this resort for 4 hours fly fishing. Up on holiday in the area and just went for a 25 minute drive and dropped in. Very friendly reception staff when checking in for permit. Ian kept me right and later came out on the water and went out his way to give me hints and assistance. Fishing facilities are tip top and good value.|When finished, we ate at the lovely restaurant that overlooks one of the lochs. Great menu at good affordable prices. Staff again were faultless in approach and service.|Just one thing, in my experience. Lodges are available to rent for 3 days or more and I would have certainly looked into this for a weekend return. Unfortunately what is available, is accommodation for 2/4/5/6 or 10 people in a party. Booking is online and inflexible. |Our party is 5 adults and 2 children and it wasn’t possible to book one place for all of us to stay. We would have had to book 2 lodges, meaning we might not have been adjoining and making it more expensive. Just a pity one place was not adaptable to accommodate 7. Not meant to be a criticism in any way. Just my experience and I’m sure if there was availability of folding beds and more flexibility online we could have all mucked in together.|Apart from that great day out.|Thanks.| More...

Along with 30 relatives we stayed in various lodges all weekend for our Sunday wedding. From first meeting with Clare then Amber nothing could be too much trouble for organising our wedding. ||Despite being other weddings on the Friday and Saturday - Sandy, Claire, Hannah, Chris, Mick, Chris, Mike, Viki and Becky and the chefs could not do enough for all of us!||They even catered for forty of us on a Saturday night where the food and service was excellent all weekend.||The day and night of the wedding went like clock work thanks to the staff there and all 110 guests were raving about the place, the staff and the food and already some are looking to book up again! ||We even booked an extra night in the Boathouse Lodge (photo from view on balcony). Highly recommend this place for either a romantic night away, friends and family catch up or weddings! ||Best weekend ever and thanks to all the staff! More...

The lodge had plenty of room for a family of 5, the kids loved it. It came with toilet roll, washing up liquid, kitchen roll. Which had we known before hand would of saved us from bringing some. The lodge had sky tv including movies which was great but in heavy rain doesn't get a signal. The views were great. Can't comment on the fishing or golf as we didn't do it. We had a fantastic time here after a little hiccup. We were booked in to Glen Clova - a woodland lodge for 5 people but although the bathrooms were updated the rest of the lodge needed spruced up especially the cooker. Also a lot smaller than it appeared on line.The next day we spoke with the management and asked to change to another lodge. We went to Glen Lee - for an additional fee and it was excellent and worth the extra . The rooms were nicely appointed and plenty of room for the five of us.The views were gorgeous and we were blessed with good weather. The restaurant was a few minutes away - good food and again lovely views. The grandchildren had fun in the Thistle Maze but remember to take a map - we were glad we had cell phones to call our son.We went putting as a family - good value - and the children enjoyed the playground. The staff were very attentive and when we called about the shower and a burnt out bulb they were there almost immediately and fixed it. The walk around the pond is really nice and we got some grain to feed the ducks. The fresh strawberries were delicious and we bought a punnet - or two- every day we were there.
