Before I started training at Fitness Therapy, I used to believe that I didn't have time to work out with my busy work schedule, having a trainer was a little over-rated, and Happy Hour was a time for discounted drinks. I was clearly wrong. Ryan Dantes and his trainers are amazing and have kicked my ass back into shape. The Classes: (happy hour)The trainers always introduce themselves to newcomers. They're attentive and extremely helpful. To start the class they'll always walk through the stations and exercises for the class. They're always walking around to help with form and/or if anyone has questions about the exercises (or modified versions if you have some injuries). I started working out at Fitness Therapy through the classes and immediately got drawn into the welcoming trainers, friendly people, and addictively effective full body workout sessions. Personal Training/Group Training: Ryan is my trainer and he's the person I owe so many thanks to for helping get skinnier & stronger - or as he calls it "skinny strong". He's extremely motivating and pushes me to strengths I didn't know I had. I do group training with him (and 2 guys) and he customizes workouts for each individual's needs taking goals into consideration. His workout sessions are extremely effective, always changing and produces results, and I love it. I have recommended him to friends and colleagues of different ages and we have all seen immediate results. Ryan is not only a trainer but is extremely knowledgeable about health and the body. Words can't express how great of a trainer Ryan is, results can though. Over the past 6-8 months I have trimmed fat, gained muscles and toned my body. For the first time in a long time I am starting to feel more comfortable and confident in my body and health. Shout out to Greg! To say this review is long overdue would be a complete understatement. I'm not much of a Yelp reviewer, but I talk enough about my trainer and my love for this gym to everyone I know, I figured why not be useful and help some fellow fitness Yelpers out? ! Bear with me as this might be a long one, but I honestly could write a book about this. If you're looking for a Personal Trainer in the Bay Area who is effective, knowledgeable, offers variety, and produces results, then Ryan Dantes is your guy! I've been training with Ryan on and off for several years and cannot recommend him highly enough. I even used to commute through one hour of traffic the opposite way from home twice a week to get to my personal training sessions with him {yes, that's how worth it my sessions are! don't worry, I've since moved closer}. He is amazing with all fitness levels. He really cares about your fitness goals and gains genuine fulfillment out of helping you meet them. On top of that he is extremely knowledgeable in human physiology and functional anatomy {PT background and MS in Kin}. He knows what your body needs to get you what you want and customizes your sessions with your goals in mind. I heard about Ryan through my cousin who lost 30 lbs after training with him for only a few months {definitely enough info to get me through the door!}. I didn't necessarily need to lose that much weight, but I definitely needed to shed some pounds and gain firmness all around. At first, I used personal training as a jump start for when I started "falling off" {getting soft, heavy and jiggly}. I consider myself fairly athletic {collegiate athlete - way back in the day!} and generally motivated so I always thought as long as Ryan could help me lose a few pounds in the beginning, I could take it from there. Wrong! I'd start and stop every few months because that's how quickly I would see results with him, but also how quickly I realized I needed to go back to him every time I stopped. Working out on my own never gave me the results I wanted {even if I went every day}. When I tried a few stints of training with others, my body transformed, but not the way I wanted it to {I got bulky, wide, and bodybuilder-looking...ugh, demotivating!}. I realized Ryan was the real deal and I just needed to stop playing around. Anyone can give you exercises to do, but Ryan gives you exercises that count.I started consistently training with Ryan in the past year and a half and I can honestly say that he has gotten me in the best shape of my life. I probably would've been a tennis pro if I had Ryan as a trainer during my college athlete days! Not only are my muscles toned, long, and lean, but I now know how to properly use them. I get compliments on my progress all the time, which keeps me motivated to keep doing more.I told him I wanted to tone up my arms and back - DONE! I told him I wanted a perkier butt - DONE! I told him I wanted to shrink my tennis thunder thighs {not easy after playing tennis for half my life} - SHRINKING! I told him I wanted to look like J. Lo - IN PROGRESS {Yes, really)! Results, results, results! Not only is he an awesome trainer, he is Fitness Therapy's owner. It never ceases to amaze me how dedicated he is to his business, his clients, and all his members. The guy is always thinking up ways to improve the gym - from equipment, trainers, space, vibe, services offered, and member experience. Needless to say, Fitness Therapy has an aesthetically nice space, constantly updated equipment, a laid back vibe, incredible trainers, and a great community of members. Ryan, who is the proprietor and my personal trainer, is AMAZING! Â I rarely give five stars. Â He deserves ten.1. Â Have not yet modified my diet and yet has gotten me down 2 sizes in 3 months. Â Come on!2. Â I look for excellence in anyone I hire. Â I don't have time as a busy parent and someone who works at a startup, to waste time. Â He is top notch in his knowledge and experience. Â Effective and efficient. Â 3. Â He does not talk unnecessarily. Â I detest trainers who talk too much, or about their political views. Â Please just work me out and focus on results. Â He is personable but is not unnecessarily chatty where he is distracted. Â Contrary to that, he is attentive and focused. Â He is driving results.4. Â My husband and I train together and he complained about a twinge in his knee. Â Without knowing what my husband did, Ryan accurately stated that he's probably kicking a ball and needs to strengthen certain body parts he rattled off. Â He was right and what backs it up is his education and is based on facts.Finally, he cares. Â He cares about the results, you as a person, that you are safe and that he is giving his best to his clients.I am extremely pleased with my results thus far and will continue to use his services for years to come. FT is a great gym! They stress the importance of proper form when taking their classes. They offer a good variety of classes for both movement and strength.
