Charming upscale dining room connected to the fantastic Mirabelle Inn. We had lobster ravioli and short rib, with roasted cauliflower and wedge salad, pumpkin creme and ginger cheesecake. Ellen was out server and she was a delight. Wine we chose was disappointing though. Pricy place go eat, but good atmosphere and soft music. More...

Before you go, know that this is a gourmet restaurant meaning small portions. I see some people write bad reviews based on lack of knowledge of the restaurant. Went here for the first time to celebrate my significant other's birthday. Let me just say my server was amazing!!! I forget her name but I went on 12/11 @7:30pm. She was super friendly and gave us a summary of every item on the menu, yes including the wine and beer menu too! What I ordered was the premier tasting-rabbit taco,ahí tuna, mushroom risotto, and pumpkin crème. ALL THE PLATES WERE DELICIOUS!! I tried to take a picture of all of them but honestly as soon as the plates were on my table I couldn't wait to start eating. That's how amazing the plates were. Each plate has a unique flavor that is savory. I promise that the money spent here is well worth it! Treat yourself to an amazing dinner and thank me later. More...

The room was very clean with nice furniture and shuttered windows. The entire hotel as beautiful dark hardwood floors throughout. There was no coffee in the room or in the lobby unless your had breakfast in the hotel. We did not have breakfast because the menu was not available beforehand and you had to commit the night before. The wi-fi was slow and unreliable and required you to supply an email address each time you wanted to use it. I would much preferred a password that could be entered on time and re-supplied automatically by whatever device I was using. We were on the third floor and it was a bit of a climb. A very small elevator is available, but it was not obvious how to use it (required some instruction) and was very slow. Still, it was very welcome for taking our luggage up and down. The rest of the time we took the stairs.DirecTV with HBO was included; however, there was some issue with the TV where the outside edges of the picture were cut off. This made changing channels difficult.A complementary bottle of Coquelicot red wine blend, 2 bottles of spring water, and a package of chocolate chip cookies were included.A small refrigerator would have been a welcome addition. So this is out second stay at Mirabelle Inn. I was greeted again by Rachel who was just the loveliest young lady you could imagine meeting. She took care of me from making sure that I was able to get our bags into room to making sure that our reservations were on time. Every day we were greeted with a warm smile and a check to make sure everything was to your satisfaction which it was. The rooms are very lovely. It feels like you're going into a European hotel. Don't expect a brand new hotel. This is more to going back towards The European style of furnishing. A fireplace warms your room and antiques are the decoration of choice. The beds are very comfortable.I will say Wi-Fi is an issue. But that is truly my one complaint. And if you have a chance, eat at First & Oak. A five star rated Michelin restaurant which is absolutely incredible. Just be prepared to have an exceptionally leisurely meal. If you're looking for a weekend away to pamper yourself or for a special weekend for you and your other half, this is absolutely a place to consider. More...

This is such a charming hotel in such a cute little town.  We love it there.  When we stayed there the first time, it was just overnight, so we didn't really get to experience all the amazingness of the Inn and the staff.  But this time we stayed for three days and it was SO worth every penny.  We met our two closest friends who drove down from San Jose to meet us there.  We sold them on the property and they were super excited. Now, our friend uses a wheelchair to get around as he is elderly and has trouble with stairs.  They did have some rooms that were available that were wheelchair accessible and a small elevator that we barely fit in, but it worked.  Because we needed a shower for him that was a walk-in, we had them stay in room 5.  It is a lovely room with cute decor and an old fashioned vanity/sink combo in the room so you can be brushing your teeth while someone else is in the bathroom showering or such.  Fireplace, windows, and a four-poster bed.  The only downside of room 5 was there was no closet.  There were just hooks alongside the wall.  Not horrible...but a bit annoying.  My Fiance and I stayed in Room 12.  It was huge!  High ceilings, great bed, fireplace, and a regular bathroom.  The tub and sinks def need some updating, but other than that the room was just fantastic.  They also give every room a bottle of wine, cookies, and two nice bottles of water upon check-in.  Very nice!We must say a huge shout out to the staff.  Alexandra, Tommy, and Rachel were all fantastic!  SOOO helpful and accommodating.  One of the BEST reasons to stay here is the breakfast.  HOLY SMOKES!!!!!  It is literally the most delicious breakfast ever.  And it is included with your stay.  If you are going to stay in Solvang, this is the place to do it.  You will love it.  And you MUST eat at their restaurant First & Oak.   See my review on that place.  SOOO delicious! This is our second visit to First & Oak and it will not be the last.  We met our friends in Solvang and I insisted that we make a reservation here.  They were blown away and they are super foodie people.  They were shocked by how well priced the food was considering how the food was high quality, beautifully presented, and SO DELICIOUS!  The restaurant was very well lit with great music playing and the wait staff was all great.  But the food....Let's discuss! Our favorites were:Kimchi Cracklings.  These are VEGAN and taste and feel the same as pork rinds.  WHAT  And the delicious sauce that came with it?  SOO GOOD!Truffle Roasted Cauliflower: They served it two ways.  Whipped and roasted.  Both were fantastic with a hint of Truffle.  We got one for dessert we loved it so much!Baby Gem Wedge:  The Green Goddess Dressing is literally heaven on lettuce.  I could drink the stuffShort Rib Bourguignon:  THIS WON THE NIGHT.  All four of us said we want to come back just to have this again.  It was melt in your mouth good.  Kimchi Risotto:  Perfectly cooked Risotto with yummy pork and those amazing Kimchi Cracklings on top.  Cannelloni:  Scallop and Crab all wrapped up in posta with vanilla cream sauce?  BRING IT ON!  That was very creative and super deliciousChocolate Mousse:  It may sound boring, but it was amazing...particularly because of the Honeycomb cookie that was on top.  We ordered this again the next day just to have it again.  You must go and treat yourself.  We had a great bottle of wine and really had a wonderful evening. I was in town for a few days, specifically to do some wine tasting/buying in the region. So my palette and attitude was ready and primed for several days worth of high scrutiny and critical evaluation. This wine region is capable of meeting some pretty high standards, so by the time I'm ready for dinner my expectations can be through the roof. First and Oak did not disappoint. The menu is arranged as a comprehensive, fixed price meal. You choose options for appetizer, entree, dessert, etc. which was very reminiscent of dining in France, where I had just been a few months earlier. Everything was delicious. The wine menu was very well thought out as well, with an excellent selection of higher quality local wines and fairly reasonable prices. But then again, I'm from Utah, where State control and taxing forces restaurants to charge absolutely outrageous prices for wine, so I'm always shocked at how reasonably prices a bottle of wine is on a menu in California. I really enjoy fine dining in super casual clothing so no dress code from what I saw. Although, most everyone was dressed business casual or nice sundresses. The restaurant doesn't look like one from the outside because it's part of a small inn a the first floor while the rooms were on the floors above. It was very cute with the Dutch architecture. The staff was very nice and service was great. I got the five course meal because I'm an absolute glutton, so here we go:Kimchi Cracklings -Tasted more like crunchy rice crackers with a bit of that kimchi flavoring. Fun to eat and not spicy at all. The garlic aioli dip was what really sold it. Heirloom Tomato Tea -Definitely recommend this one as it's a very clear and light tomato soup that comes in a brewed tea pot. It may look pretty and delicate but it packs a punch of flavor in that soup. Very savory and tasty. I honestly could have drank it all night. Definitely recommend this one.Cannelloni - Looked like the cannoli dessert but instead of a crunchy exterior, it was a soft rice wrapping with seafood filling. And then kettlecorn scattered on top. It was highly amusing and easy to eat. The crab and scallops were very tender and fresh. It kinda reminded me of a sauceless but seasoned enchilada.Barramundi - A very well seared piece of fish with a crispy crust and tender flesh underneath. Not overcooked at all, just right. The pea puree was on point as I am a big fan of peas. Artichokes were a bit tangy which was an interesting contrast of flavor.Poached Pear -The pear was chopped up, candied and sugared to death so you couldn't really taste it but it was very sweet. The dessert came out as a frozen chocolate ball that you had to whack to open. Pretty fun. Contained smaller chocolate balls inside like dip n dots but chocolate. Would've gone great with a not very sweet or citrus ice cream.Overall, very romantic experience to have with a family member or significant other. Would definitely recommend if you want a fancy night out. It did take over 2 hours so time yourself accordingly. I was comfortably full unless you have a larger than average appetite. More...

This small, one-room restaurant offers fine dining in a home-spun atmosphere.  Many of the dishes are definitely noteworthy. We particularly enjoyed both of our appetizers, the oysters, and the rabbit tacos. Flavors and textures were perfect in both dishes. The entrees were fine, but not as impressive.Desserts were nicely done, with a homemade honeycomb being the standout. The weakness is the wine list, particularly the wines by the glass, which are heavily reliant upon a single so-so producer. This is odd, since the restaurant is in the middle of wine country.Service was friendly, but the single server struggled to keep up with the three occupied tables, which were unfortunately simultaneously seated. The menu allows you to select the number of courses you like, and we felt the price for three courses was extremely reasonable. First review for 2019! We are so glad we picked this place for our Eve of New Year's Eve (yeah!) dinner in Santa Ynez Valley. It was a spur of the moment decision as we found out that Bell's in Los Alamos was fully booked  and Pico closed earlier that day, too. It was a blessing in disguise as we wouldn't have been able to find this homey yet elegant restaurant! The wait staff, especially the ladies, were very friendly and warm. They responded to all the questions we had with sincerity and enthusiasm. They are pretty confident about their knowledge of wine and every food was described just the way how a gentle host would do. Each dish served had a unique twist and were all surprisingly very tasty! Since we were still pretty stuffed from having late lunch, my daughter and I opted for the 3-course while my husband did the four-course. Not a single dish disappointed us - they were all soo good! My favorite was the kimchi cracklings and the foie grad terrib. Next time we visit Solvang, we're going all-in with the five-course! More...
