What makes a great website?
Good websites are well organized and follow a structure. They are easy to read, clean and professional and not cluttered. Organization makes a website accessible and user-friendly. Beautiful & contemporary design makes a site memorable. Original Content is also a very important trait. It should focus on their audience's needs. so it keeps the visitor's interest and invites them to get involved. The site needs to be responsive and have speed so users don't have to wait for downloads.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is timing? What is your vision? Do you have a set budget? What is your desired outcome. Do you have a sample of something you like as a reference. Will you be available throughout the process to share communication.
Describe your creative process.
phase 1: project assessment
This phase is concerned with understanding as completely as possible your vision for what needs to be accomplished and the reasons underlying for the branding materials. Relevant to this understanding is our need to know such things as: who is the intended audience, end use, quantities of the various marketing materials, life expectancy of the deliverables, etc. We expect that as we begin our design process, more questions will emerge. This intensive gathering of information is what serves us as we begin developing a cohesive theme and correct brand message. It forms the basis for our exploration of visual solutions.
phase 2: concept and design development
This work results in a design presentation showing several design directions that are appropriate and convey the desired message and image for you. Solutions will show accurate representation of typefaces and type treatments and be presented in full color printouts and PDFs as back up. Usage of your existing photography and stock photography will be shown in our comp layouts to represent suggested styles, coloring and tone we are seeking to achieve.
phase 3: layout and implementation
After we reach agreement on the branded design approach and direction, we will flush out the various components including the messaging, logo refinement, investor’s pitch, capabilities brochure, invitation suite, and video. Once we finalize the client-approved copy, we will complete layouts for each listed project. We will supply you with pdf proofs for your review. We will make up to 3 rounds of revisions in regards to copy or layout up to release for print production for any of the prices to need to be printed. Upon your final approval of all copy and imagery, electronic mechanicals will be prepared for print production. Any changes made by you after the job has been released to the printer are billable as AA’s.
phase 4: print production and video production
Prior to entering the printing phase, we will obtain print estimates and submit these to you for your review and approval. We will coordinate all aspects of the print production process including review of color proofs, and on-press supervision as the job is being printed. All proofs, color corrections and revisions will be submitted to you for your review and approval before the job actually prints. We will arrange for delivery as per your instructions to
whatever locations you need on the date you specify.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I prefer to speak to the client over the phone to learn more about their needs, budget and timeline. Is there printing involved, how many rounds of edits, are there color guidelines and brand guides lines we need to follow etc. Usually I am able to determine a budget over the phone and offer a consultative solution on the same call.
What do you love most about your job?
Every business needs to communicate and everyone needs their visual communication to look the best it can. We take great pride in helping clients and their companies no matter what size. We get to work many different people from all different kinds of businesses. We learning about our clients needs and then we get to create and design the best possible solution for that need which is very fulfilling. We get to use our brain muscles, every day is different, we never stop learning, every day we gain a new perspective on the world, we get to surround ourselves with inspiring images all the time, we can design from anywhere in the world, we get to be a part of the global community, we get to make a difference and life is too short so why do what what we love to do - create!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always been creative since I was a child. My team and I are passionate about design, color, typography, photography and illustration. I like art directing and directing others to help problem solve for my clients. My greatest reward is a happy client and beautiful product or solution.
