Stopped in for lunch weekday afternoon. The tomato salad made with tomatoes grown on the property was delicious. Lovely basil flower aioli and crunchy bacon. Left off the faro due to GF but it was sill amazing. The truffle fries were a meal by themselves. Partner had the Greek chicken salad -extremely fresh ingredients -good balance. Chicken was tender, juicy as More...
ABSOLUTELY the best kept secret in Birmingham. Food is amazing, AND I have never been here when the owner/chef didn't come by to chat and check on us. Superior!
Amazing in every way!
Great food in this hidden gem. Hard to find but worth the effort.
Fantastic brunch! A great stop if you are passing by on 280
They are always so nice

I used Yelp to find a good restaurant that serves brunch and takes reservations. Then after reading all the great reviews, seeing pictures of their meals and looking at their menu, I scheduled a brunch for five for my daughter's birthday. I am glad we went there. Food was great, drinks were great and Jon Holland the Owner/Executive Chef and Rebecca the Sous Chef both visited the table and chatted about the food, history and growth plans (heads up Mt. Brook Village they're opening a location there too in a few months!). They source all of their food from their garden and local farm. Apparently they feed their pigs peanuts and peanut butter so the pork had a better taste. We are going to definitely return. It's located in Cahaba Heights in a house where there is salon in the front part and the restaurant is in the back. Google maps will bring you right there, and then pull around back. More...
Amazing food and friendly staff. Highly recommend the chicken and waffles.
Great local farm to table restaurant..
My husband and I have discovered a new favorite restaurant, Fig Tree. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The lunches we have enjoyed at Fig Tree are FULL of flavor. Fresh ingredients are definitely used in their kitchen, because I can taste them! The fried green tomato BLT is crispy and so delectable, I highly recommend! Plus you can see chef/owner, Jon Holland, mingling around, which just tells me how much he likes what he does and how much he cares for what comes out of his kitchen. Kudos Chef!Staff is very attentive and very friendly.Yes, the inside restaurant is small but it’s comfortable and well decorated with fresh flowers on every table. The outdoor seating is larger and also comfortable. Yes, parking is limited, but none of those businesses in that immediate area have large parking areas. Great job, Fig Tree! More...
One of Birmingham's hidden gems! More like diamond. There is literally a garden right outside where some of your produce is picked. The okra fries from the garden were the best take on fried okra I had ever had. The crab claws will make you believe you're in Orange Beach or Destin. The pork cheek and shoulder is hands down the best pork dish in the city. That's huge considering we live in the south where BBQ is King. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. They even had a German beer that I had never tried. The food, service, and drinks are worth ever penny. This was our third visit and we will be back. More...

Staff was AMAZING and chef even came out of kitchen to speak to us and we were just there for lunch!!! Food is very very tasty will definitely go back.
Food was delicious and good service.
Food is always excellent service is great and they allow animals on the patio
BEST SWEET POTATO FRENCH FRIES IN THE WORLD!Thin. Crispy. Flavorful. Earthy sweet. AhhhhhhhMenu is always unique. Food consistently exceeds expectations.
Every dining experience here is amazing beyond description. Chef Jon Paul is an expert at flavor pairings and is never fearful of following new gastronomic paths.
Great lunch, ready to go again
Great foo, great service
Food was quite good; service was attentive, but slow. We were dining with friends we had not seen for sometime so the length of the meal was not troubling.
I loved this place so much! Had an amazing lunch with my boyfriend. We got there just as they opened and the owner turned on David Bowie radio after he saw my tattoos. Staff was so friendly. And the food is outstanding. Best burger I've had in a very long time! I cant wait to go back and try brunch. More...
Loved the crab cakes with great service!
Best stake you can find!
Great food and beautiful atmosphere! Order the fried green tomatoes. They are delicious!
We had an awesome brunch at the Fig Tree. The chicken and waffles were delicious and the Spinach omelet and cheese grits were excellent as well. Very friendly staff and excellent service. We will be back soon. More...
Had brunch here on Sunday, it was so delicious that all of my meals thereafter have felt unsatisfactory! It is difficult to find, which added an element of adventure to the meal, and helped to make the experience more enchanting. Everything was fresh, and exquisitely prepared-I was so engrossed by eating that I forgot to take a picture of the food, which speaks volumes for a millennial. The service was perfect, not intrusive, but my coffee cup always seemed to be full. everyone on staff was friendly, and excited about what was being made in the kitchen. Can’t give a higher recommendation than the fig tree, I will certainly be returning often! More...
If you want farm to table with a warm inviting atmosphere, you have to go here! Best food hands down you will ever eat! Try it, you won't be disappointed!!
This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and flavorful and locally sourced, whenever possible. The owner takes great pride in his establishment. It's not uncommon for him to stop by and share the stories behind the meal. I highly recommend it. More...
Great intamate dinning experience...good food
The Fig Tree should have 5 stars and the only reason it doesnt is parking, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. I went for brunch on a Sunday and The Fig Tree comes highly, highly recommended. The bloody Mary was amazing. The staff was quick and attentive. Seating was tight but they have a huge patio that is going to be great in spring and summer. Food was delicious and fresh. Decor was farmhouse style, think Chip and Jo. I look forward to going back soon. Have a restaurant or business you want me to check out before spending money on it? Contact me and let me know. High quality place with great ingredients and in a pleasant setting. Looking forward to returning.
Food was great
Everything is excellent. We'll be back!
Every grill and pan has its own personality and the character, the years of experience, of Fig Tree’s grill comes through beautifully in every bite. Farm to table establishment with a delicious menu from top to bottom. Really, there ought to be a line out front at all times for each of the 6 cozy tables inside. More...
A hidden gem with a cozy porch and delicious brunch
Always Delicious! JP knows his stuff.
Fig Tree = best brunch in town. All of their dishes are up there with "Hot and Hot" and Highland Bar and Grill. Delicious.
We had a party of 7 for lunch the other day and wow, it was delicious! Service was snappy and the food was great. The facilities could use a decorating update, but were clean. I had a salad and asked for it to be heavy blackened and it was done perfectly. The greens were fresh and dressing was homemade. Most everyone else had a burger and everyone said thumbs up! This is a hidden jewel that's a little bit hard to find but don't let the appearance fool you. They've got some real Southern favorites here! We will definitely be going back!Urban CowgillDecember 2018 More...
Wonderful, quaint restaurant in Cahaba Heights! Fresh food.
Sunday brunch was absolutely delicious!! Looking forward to trying them for dinner sometime soon!
Absolutely fantastic. A wonderful ambiance for an intimate date, a business meeting or even for some football. That PATIO! ! But the star of this place is the food- WOW! Talk about attention to detail and putting love into your craft! Honestly cannot go wrong with anything, especially the pork belly plates, pork chop plates, and seafood dishes. The drinks are made in house from scratch as well! For a full five senses experience, this is where you need to go. More...
Passionate team, if felt like this place is going to become quite something
Awesome food awesome staff
Great cozy spot and excellent food
Fig Tree is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food. The staff is always friendly. The menu items change depending on what available at the restaurant's farm but I've never had a bad dish. I will continue to be a patron there for years to come. More...
Freshest pork, and beef around. The menu caters to all types of food goers
Awesome food...awesome service!! Can't wait to see the new menu!
That's a really cozy place and the food was amazing
The food was really good!! However, it took a looong time for the food to come out. This was at lunch, we went early, and there was only one table in front of us that got salads. It's hard to advocate going when you have only an hour for lunch. But the food was so good that I'm willing to try again in hopes that this was a one time thing. The wait service was excellent. Very intimate, cozy dining. Excellent food.
It's all good!
This place is a hidden gem. The Chef has taken the time to speak with us every time we have eaten here. Their pork chop is like eating a bone-in ribeye. Their brunch is delicious.
Good food, yes they do special meals for those who desire Plaeo diets.
The food was superb. I got fried chicken, which I'm not usually too excited about, and it was amazing. Also everyone must get the Oh Lard appetizer: pork belly with blackeyed peas (and fairy dust). The drinks were creative AND delicious The restaurant is a little too intimate for its popularity, so you definitely want to make a reservation if you can. More...
Great food, and neat atmosphere. Staff was awesome!
Consistently good food. Sunday brunch is not to be missed.
I got the house special and it was delicious. The waffle was well made, and fluffy and the bacon was nice, thick cut. The good took a while to come out even on a slow day, so I wouldn't come here if I was in a hurry.
Really nice Mother's Day brunch. Great service. Enjoyed the crab cakes, crawfish eggrolls, and Mimi's breakfast. Great flavors. Crab cakes with fried green tomatoes were particularly tasty. More...
Best food in town!
We stopped in for Saturday brunch. The patio was laid back and comfortable. The sausage and cheese grits were really good. The nashville hot chicken and waffles had a good blend of hot and sweet without the saltiness I typically taste in hot chicken. Service was prompt and JP came out to visit with all the customers. I look forward to returning for dinner. More...
Parking around back is interesting. Would've missed the restaurant if I hadn't had GPS. Wonderful food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Drinks were amazing as well.
Chicken friend chicken was cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes and collards were great. Can't wait to go back.
Great service, awesome farm burger snd truffle fries! Perfection! Blueberry breadpudding was very delicious, delicate flavor. Great IPA beer. Loved sitting at the bar and outside on the newly renovated patio. Definitely recommend.....A+++ More...
You can't beat the food JP makes! Awesome cozy atmosphere and one of the top chefs around!
One of Birmingham's hidden gems. Highly recommended for a romantic evening out.
A secret gem in Cahaba Heights, I almost don't won't to post about it. ;) New huge porch added and indoor dining. Food is delicious; never disappoints! Friendly staff!
Very small place and easy to miss. Once you find it though it's worth the stop. Be SURE to have one of the burgers, they're fantastic.
Food is consistently delicious.
The best of everything! One of our favorite places!
Delicious. Good drinks. Only been for brunch but great experience and great server.
Great food and atmosphere! Highly recommend if in the area.

Excellent food and good service. Unusual facility and fun place!

The food will blow you away
The was very good, Fig Tree Hash for brunch. The service was friendly and help. They served our party of 7 well. I'll be back to explore more of the menu.
Great food! I got the shrimp and grits and the shrimp were some of the best that I have had in the area. My girlfriend got a waffle, which was also excellent. Her dad got an omelette that also looked quite good. All of the food was generously portioned and service was great. Nobody left hungry and drinks were often refilled. Highly recommended! More...
Food was amazing!! The staff was wonderful! The owner was just pleasant as he could be. Very knowledgeable!! Good job! Good job!
Food looked good.
Amazing meal last night at Fig Tree, tucked away in Cahaba Heights! Loved the crab cakes small plate: moist and delicate with a light remoulade. One of the coolest places I have been in a long time and the food was delicious!!!!
Excellent food and service.
We were visiting Birmingham, looking for a one-of-a-kind breakfast spot, and we found it in The Fig Tree! The food was delicious (highly recommend the chicken and waffle and blood orange mimosa), and the service was wonderful. The owners are very kind and personable. It started to get busy, the locals seem to love it. If you're in Birmingham, give this place a visit! More...

Small. Delicious food. Gracious hosts and outstanding service.
Very different experience. Excellent food but not run of the mill.
Amazing food! Friendly atmosphere, great drinks!
Incredible food and service. Everything over the top
Pretty good. I had their Garden burger. I recommend it. Place was a bit small. But food and service good. It is easy to miss the restaurant. It is located behind a salon.
If you want the absolute best food in Birmingham, then you want The Fig. I have tried several dishes from here in which all of them were amazing.
Chicken Fried Chicken, Mahi Fish Tacos, Shrimp and Grits, and Truffle Fries are must-haves... To add to that, I will never forget the Mushroom Salad Chef JP Holland served me. I was completely blown away. Thats right, blown away by a SALAD.
Do yourself a favor, and give The Fig a try. More...

This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Birmingham, AL. My husband and I go frequently to enjoy the absolutely DELICIOUS food and the amazing company. If you are a new visitor to the area or even a native looking for a new restaurant spot I highly recommend you check out this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed. More...
Our first trip here, but it won't be the last. Nice cozy atmosphere, and everyone was especially friendly. The owner came out and talked to us about the food and the place before we ordered. This place is awesome! Food was delicious!
FARM TO TABLE!!!!!!!! We went to the Fig Tree for the first time today for Brunch. We absolutely loved the food, service and atmosphere. It's a smaller place that really takes the extra time to cater to their customers. The chef, Jon, brought the food out to us personally. He also came back several times to check on how we liked the food---it was mouth watering!! We can't wait to make a reservation and go back for dinner! More...

Personal service, the chef will visit you at some point!
Imagine your grandmother's cooking with a new twist. I've been here probably 10 times, and I've loved everything. Jon and staff make you feel like family, and it's a must if you enjoy good food.
The Fig Tree is an incredible restaurant filled with delicious food and friendly employees. Their brunch is my hands-down favorite in town, make sure to get a bloody mary w/ your fig tree hash!
Great fine dining restaurant off the beaten path! Prices may seem high but a the food is made fresh and totally worth it! Used to be BYOB but recently updated and now serves drinks . Give it a try and you won't be upset. More...
Great food! Great service! What more could you ask?
Great little hidden place. Arrive early, not a lot of seating.
INCREDIBLEThis is some of the best food that I've ever had! Make sure to get reservations, because you won't get in otherwise because this is not a secret around town.
You know those tiny little places that are easy to miss but have some of the best food you'll ever eat? This is one of those places. It is now 1 of the top 5 restaurants I've eaten at in my life. It is clear that JP (the owner/chef) not just knows food, but loves food. I would recommend a certain dish, but absolutely everything was delicious and made from the freshest ingredients. The pork chop had an amazing flavor and was charred perfectly on the outside and juicy on the inside. The swordfish (from Honolulu) was the 1st time in my life that I've been impressed with a fish dish: it didn't have a fishy flavor and was 'melt in your mouth' tender. The sirloin was large and cooked to perfection; even the fat was tasty (and I normally don't care for fat). The scrambled eggs, the most basic of dishes, held more flavor than any other scrambled eggs I've eaten. Do yourself a favor and find this gem of a restaurant. Even if you have to drive out of your way, you MUST try this place. More...
Happenins in the Ham
While it only seats about 20 in the main dining area and 24 in the extended dining area, Fig Tree Cafe offers up some amazing food. They have an in-house mixologist who does the signature cocktails and most all of the food ingredients are farm to table. Each dish was very flavorful and the staff was polite and accommodating. I haven't had the chance to try the lunch menu, but the dinner menu is great for a night out with a date. Call ahead during busy times as it can fill up quickly. The menu also changes based on the season and what fresh ingredients are on hand. More...
This place is now in my top 3 restaurants. You need to get there soon before you can't get in. Chef JP does amazing things with food, and his passion comes out when he talks to you. Justin and Brandon provide phenomenal customer service. This is an awesome dining experience. Don't miss out on this hidden gem, that will soon be well known. More...
Brunch is delicious! Leslie is a fantastic server, too!
Great sevice, unique seasonal menu, low key and fun, never disappoints
What a great experience! You can really feel the passion that the chef has for his craft in all of his fare. It's a small spot off the beaten path that is worth the visit. As many have said, it's located in the back of a salon. Your GPS should lead you right to the front but make sure you park in the back where the entrance to the restaurant actually is. It's close quarters in the dining room but it really just gives you this intimate type of vibe. Because the dining room is so small, seating is limited so I would highly recommend making a reservation through Open Table. The staff was very attentive and patient with us as we tried to decide what exactly we wanted. We kicked off our meal with an order of fried green tomatoes and with a cosmo and a cucumber mojito. I liked the green tomatoes but the real star with the bright and tangy sauce that accompanied them. So delicious! Our drinks were nice compliments as well. For the main course, my partner went with the seafood special and I ordered the chicken friend chicken. It didn't take long for our food to arrive and in fact, it arrived right after we finished our appetizer and drinks. You can taste, smell and feel the chef's passion in his food! Both of our dishes were not only delicious but so filling and completely worth the amount that we spent. I'm such a fan of this place and can't wait to come back for brunch! More...
This place has the best food. It's authentic American cuisine, with some southern flare, and the menu changes every month or so. It's small and quiet, so get there early otherwise you might have a wait a while. It's worth every penny though! More...

That Chicken Fried Chicken that I picked up 20 mins ago.. Yeah... That's gone... Because.. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD THAT I INHALED IT!
