Field Gems Photography

Elisha and Mike were an absolute joy to work with! I had met them at a wedding convention and was drawn to the beautiful photo-journalistic style. After learning how Elisha has grown up around photography and reviewing more of their work, I was confident I wanted Field Gems Photography for my wedding!

We got married at the Royal Oak Music Theatre and the Events Director had warned us to give photographers a heads up about darker venues. Elisha sent me a few samples of some of the darker venues as I saw a lot of outdoor photos online. I had a longer engagement (~1.5 years) and got a lot of the initial planning done right away. However, that didn't mean they forgot about me up until the month of the wedding. Throughout the entire planning process, Elisha and Mike were very responsive. Very sincere people :)

During the actual wedding day, Elisha and Mike were phenomenal. !! They made us and our guests feel at ease. Things were well planned and so many great candid shots were captured. I'm so happy with all of the photos from our special day.

We found Field Gems Photography when they shot wedding photos for my husband's cousin's wedding. We loved there style and found that they took so many beautiful pictures. From the start they were incredibly helpful and attentive. They absolutely went above and beyond. Elisha and Mike were worth every penny. Both of them were there to help make sure our day was the most special. My friends and I wanted to do something special for our graduation this year. Elisha and Michael are absolutely fantastic. My husband and I live in Washington, DC so trying to find a photographer for our wedding in Michigan was a tad stressful. Elisha and Michael are so easygoing and put us at ease not only the day of our wedding, but throughout the entire process. Elisha came out to the wedding venue a week before to find the best spots to take photos, Michael was able to take photos of my husband's golf outing the morning of the wedding. Elisha and Mike are...amazing. Months ago, my now-husband and I reached out to them about our upcoming wedding. With so many photographers, packages, and prices to choose from, you can imagine how overwhelmed we were, like any other soon-to-be bride and groom. Elisha and Mike are such kind and warm people and phenomenal photographers, I cannot imagine having had anyone else photograph our wedding day! Elisha went above and beyond helping me figure out the schedule for the day and always checked in to make sure I was feeling calm and happy throughout the day of the wedding. We hired Elisha and Mike as our photographers for our March wedding and couldn't be happier with the way our photo's turned out. Choosing a photographer to trust with one of the biggest days of your life was probably one of the most stressful decisions of wedding planning and from day 1 of choosing Field Gems, I was blown away. Aside from their beautiful photography, they are the sweetest couple and really make you feel comfortable immediately after meeting them. Working with Elisha was such a pleasure. She was so bubbly and full of life and made smiling and laughing for photographs so easy! Fantastic photographer here, read on! I am a wedding DJ and know the importance of good photos. Naturally, I work with numerous photographers as I spun around 70 weddings in 2016. Anyways, enough about me...Elisha was so professional, punctual, responsive, and on top of her game. I live in California and my girlfriend lives in Michigan. Elisha coordinated with me to take photos of me reuniting with my girlfriend at DTW. Field Gems Photography is amazing. They've done two of my friends' weddings and engagement sessions in Detroit, and both times I was so impressed with her at the event as well as with her photos. Elisha has an incredible eye for beauty, and she is fully committed to doing whatever it takes to get beautiful pictures. She is efficient and extremely professional. This review is long overdue!  I hired Elisha to take photos of my family last year when she was still in San Diego and she did an amazing job.  Every communication with Elisha was great.  Elisha is such a warm person that even in email she puts a smile on your face.  On the day of the photo shoot, my baby was teething and not cooperating.  We didn't know what to do, but Elisha sang to him and he was all smiles!  All the photos Elisha took came out great.  I was sad to see that Elisha moved as I would have definitely hired her again for photos this year, but I would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a family photographer in her new location.  She was a true pleasure to work with and we still talk about how much we loved working with her one whole year later! Elisha is incredibly professional, friendly and organized. She took care of our proposal shoot and we could not have imagined having anyone else do it. Before the shoot, she took her time to scout out locations, and offered some really useful advice on both the artistic elements (how to get the best pictures) and for the proposal itself (she gave some really great ideas for the process itself). She walked me through the entire process and communicated exactly what should happen at what time - offering her expertise and yet figuring out how to accommodate every single one of our preferences. As we were planning for it, she was incredibly flexible and understanding through date and location changes.On the day of, she got there very early to help set up, and with a bunch of hiccups at the location, helped us troubleshoot and was extremely accommodating. Throughout our planning process and the day itself, she asked questions to understand us as a couple, so that she could best capture the candid moments and get pictures that really described us. During the shoot, she was so willing to do everything we asked; she was flexible and understanding as she found angles to get the pictures we wanted. After the shoot, she got us samples of the pictures in just a couple hours, and when we wanted more, she was quick to get those to us. The photographer is the most important vendor for your wedding because they're the ones that capture every waking moment of your big day! That's where Elisha comes in! She is seriously good at what she does. It's like she was born to be a photographer ;) When we took our engagement photos, you don't understand how many compliments we got. Her work is so natural, effortless, and really raw. So many people told us that our pictures are "different" because they're not just a bunch of awkward poses. The photos really capture the epitome of my relationship with my now husband. It helps that she talks to us while shooting and captures the candid moments of when we're lauging and not being awkward. The engagement shoot went by so quickly because it was THAT easy! Everything about it was easy! Come the day of the wedding, not only was she on time, but she came with a smile and seemed like she was more excited than I was! She also brought an awesome second shooter, her mom :) I was honored to have her mom as one of our photographers since she's the one that taught Elisha everything she knows, so I heard. As soon as she got to the venue, she was ready to work! She took photos of all the details, decor, and the knick knacks of our wedding. We didn't hire a videographer, but Elisha took literally every detail of our wedding - didn't regret not hiring a videographer at all!Elisha is intentional in her work and that's one of the many things I appreciated about her. Elisha was our photographer at our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party. She took great shots-- both posed and unposed-- and provided us with photos that we are very happy with. She also did a simulated photo booth with fun props for us so we could give pictures to my daughters' guests (albeit several weeks later instead of right away). Elisha photographed our wedding in the Temecula, CA wine country and went ABOVE & BEYOND to make the day PERFECT. If you want HIGH QUALITY PHOTOS and a LOW STRESS day, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her. I LOVE ELISHA SO MUCH. I can't emphasize how much I recommend her!! :3Elisha took my graduation photos when I graduated from UCSD this past June (yay! ). Before the photo session, she was incredibly prompt, friendly, and responsive with her communication. She asked me to share a bit about myself, my experiences and best memories in UCSD, etc. because she wanted her photography to capture my personality. How great is that?When we first met at the photography session, my parents thought we had been friends or ages, haha! Words cannot describe the magic that Elisha has with her photography skills. When I was newly engaged I knew that photography was on the top of my list. I was nervous wreck because I wanted to make the right choice. After meeting Elisha in person and viewing her portfolio, I knew right away that she was someone that I really wanted to work with. Not only was she INCREDIBLY PROFESSIONAL, but she has a warmth about her that eased all of my nerves. Our photos from our Engagement session were out of this world and we still get compliments from our friends and family. Even months leading into our wedding Elisha kept in touch with me giving me help and suggestions on wedding timelines. The day of our wedding was perfect! Elisha was prompt with her scheduling and even played mini coordinator when my timeline with the DJ and Caterer were off. EVERYONE LOVED HER! Elisha is a such a friendly, creative, and EXCELLENT photographer!! I had a session done with her for my graduation photos and I love the way they came out. I had never had photos taken before so I was totally nervous and awkward but Elisha knows how to make you feel calm and comfortable :) She truly cares about capturing special moments in your life and making them come alive. She responded promptly to my emails and made the process of setting up a session super easy. She was also so genuinely interested in getting to know me and my story I was surprised and touched! Doing a photo shoot with a 3 week old is very tricky (he cried for half of it) but Elisha was so flexible and patient. Elisha shot our tiki-themed wedding shower at Lost River tiki bar in Detroit. Because my sister arranged the shower, we had not met Elisha before the event. However, Elisha instantly put us at ease with her kind, easy-going, and confident personality. She captured some amazing, natural candid images of us and our guests. Even the more "posed" pics felt and looked natural! Though the bar was really dark, Elisha was able to strike a great balance with lighting and you can't tell how dark the space actually was from the pictures. Elisha is just an amazing photographer and she took some great photos around UCSD for my graduation album. Some of my favorite photographs were the ones that I did not plan for and it was through Elisha's suggestions that I ended up with them. Elisha took my graduation pictures, and I really love them. She is really sweet and friendly, and made me feel super comfortable during the entire shoot.
