[Review #416]2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (67/100)Fettes Schwein Food Truck was a last minute replacement to the weekly food truck rotation, & what a great last minute addition. =) They're known for their American/Austrian dishes, & if you look at their menu, it reads American... I'm not sure how their burgers play into this fusion; it seems bosner (bratwurst on a hot dog roll) is the more common snack food than burgers. Hmmm... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯I wanted a burger but couldn't decide, so I asked for their most popular choice by their customers: BACON CHEESEBURGER (angus beef burger, American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, 1000 island sauce, onions, tomato, lettuce, brioche bun) & added a side of FRIES.My order was served pretty quick, considering the handful of customers ahead of me. I immediately dig in to the fries to check doneness... they were nicely crisp on the outside, mashed potato-like on the inside, & lightly salted. Yum! The sizable patty was juicy & a tad under seasoned, but the overall flavors reminds me of an In & Out Burger without the bacon. The bacon was crisp but not crunchy to where it would crumble after each bite. And I liked that the brioche bun held up well until the last bite, especially with the juices from the patty & tomato running down my hand. :-O I really enjoyed the burger & wondered what part of Austrian cuisine it plays into, though speck (aka bacon) is used in many traditional recipes. I would prefer to taste more Austrian flavors to their menu. Maybe instead of fries as sides, Greste Krumpian (roasted crushed potatoes with onions) or Speckknödel (dumplings with bacon bits)? What more can you ask for? With a check-in on Yelp, you get 10% off... that's what. =) Good food at competitive food truck prices, Fettes Schwein Food Truck is here to serve (I'm just not sure of the Austrian part)!Recommended: Bacon Cheeseburger & Fries. (Dined 05/18/19 SA @ 8:30pm): "That's some [fat] pig" you got there!I recently enjoyed a viewing of "Get Out" during an Eat See Hear event at Santa Monica High School's Greek Amphitheatre when I had my first eating experience with Fettes Schwein Food Truck. Since I frequently attended, worked, or volunteered at the myriad of year-around events throughout Southern California, I was very familiar with this food truck but always found other options that called my tastebuds at the time. Due to the lack of food options this time around - plus, I tried the other two trucks before - by default they were my dinner of choice. Would I squeal and oink-out on this German grub!?:QUICK BIO"Fettes Schwein Food Truck is giving Los Angeles, CA the best Austrian/American fusion food on the go offering the traditional Austrian-schnitzel in all American forms, putting a twist on classic street food. They're committed to using the highest quality ingredients in each and every sammie. Get the classic schnitzl sandwich featuring that crispy hand breaded deep fried pork chop on ciabatta, or try something new for a change with their schnitzl taco dressed in coleslaw on a corn tortilla. Sink your teeth into Fettes Schwein's hand made angus beef patties topped with the likes of applewood smoked bacon, thousand island sauce and melty American cheese. Fettes Schwein Food Truck's got healthy fare, too, including loaded rice bowls and salads. Find Fettes Schwein Food Truck in Los Angeles, CA or have them out to cater yelp.com/user_local_phot… your next event." PURCHASESchnitzl & Fries ($12): Two large thick pieces of breaded deep-fried pork chops ("schnitzels") and a generous amount of crispy salted fries, I grabbed one piece of pork at a time and noshed away as I enjoyed each steaming hot bite as the roof of my mouth slowly burned. Intermittently, I reached for a fry which only added more crunchiness and burnt-mouth sensation to this filling meal. Although I applied catsup to the schnitzels and fries, it wasn't necessary as they simply tasted wonderful as they were. Everything was literally finger-licking good yelp.com/user_local_phot…!SERVICEThe tiny staff that consisted of one cook and one order-taker seemed to work well together as they kept the line flowing. From the time I ordered to when I received my entree was about a 7-minute wait (below standard). I grabbed my basket of food, packets of catsup, napkins, and quickly went to me seat to enjoy the meal and movie. All was quick and easy!PARKING (Varied; $5.00 this instance)Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever the event was held. In this case, the event took place on a high school campus but unsure if their parking was available for patrons. Otherwise, I parked across the street at the public civic center parking lot for a $5 flat fee at this time while there seemed to be various paid parking garages, lots, and structures in the immediate area as well as metered street parking (valid until 6pm nightly) along the main drag of Pico Blvd. and other surrounding streets. Another option was a driving service like a bus, taxi, Lyft, or Uber (no nearby Metro train station).ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEYour standard self-sufficient food truck with exterior visual menus yelp.com/user_local_phot…, order and pick up windows, an area for condiments, napkins, and utensils, no designated seating area, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while minimal electric street and truck lighting glowed at night. There were no TVs nor background music yelp.com/user_local_phot….ATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLI was in hog heaven with my first Fettes Schwein Food Truck encounter and would definitely dine with them again. My food was very good, the general prices were really affordable among the food truck scene, and the service got you in and out (no... not the burger!) with minimal wait time. The menu selection was limited but concise and consistent (everything fried) with one non-meat option (grilled tofu burger). I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $12.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 5.0 STARS More...

I ate here for the first time and it was absolutely delicious!!! I had the schnitzl burger and macaroni salad! Everything about the burger worked and tasted great. The pork was extremely tender, the bread was side and the sauce complimented it well. The macaroni salad was awesome, but I love macaroni salad. I will definitely eat here again!! More...

These guys are great! Super nice dudes, decent service, but most importantly, one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. They take the time to toast the buns, add the right amount of stuff, and the burger is delicious! One of my favorites since Bubba Burger on Kauai. I always look for Fettes Schwein! More...

I'm always excited to try something different, so many Yelpers raved about the bacon-cheeseburgers...but, I've had a few too many of those in my life. So I went for the Schnitzl Burger...never had one before.Schnitzl Burger $8.75: breaded, deep fried pork chop in a ciabatta with lettuce, tomato, onions and 1000-Island-SauceThe pork chop was tender and moist, the other items complimented the burger well. But, the ciabatta bun took the sandwich up a notch.I've always said you can have great ingredients for a sandwich, but if the bread is mediocre, it ruins the whole thing. That definitely wasn't the case here as everything was great.Would definitely revisit. More...

I am really happy I found Fettes Schwein for my event.  They were very professional, arrived early, followed instructions (dont expect this de facto from LA foodtrucks) and on top of it all, their food was delicious and the price was very reasonable.  Several of my guests went out of their way to comment on how good the truck was.  I had the bacon burger and it was definitely the best burger I have had in a while, much better than any truck and tastier and better priced than most sit-down restaurants.  They use top-quality ingredients, and it definitely shows.  The fries were also fresh, which makes a huge difference.I would definitely hire Fettes Schwein again for my events. Absolutely, hands down, the best burger I've had from a food truck. That statement is not meant to demean food trucks at all but a testament to the venue and what qualifies as food truck food. Moist, juicy, flavorful and cooked just right. There must be different grades of Angus beef since a lot of trucks advertise it but the flavor of this burger speaks for itself: ANGUS BEEF. I can still taste it which is a great indication of one's taste buds being tickled. Mine are a gluten for punishment and right now I could eat another one if it wasn't for the size of the burger. Looks to be 1/3 lbs but I could be wrong. Took a while to eat it since I savored every bite. It's surprising how just basic ingredients can compliment the meat without going overboard. My go to for burgers. A must try. More...

We were at an event and my daughter ordered a cheeseburger from Fettes Schwein. I decided to go with a different food truck. When we sat down to eat, she kept going on and on about how delicious her burger was. I thought she was exaggerating or extremely hungry because, tbh, the burger didn't look like much. Finally, I was curious enough to ask for a bite. And I have to say that she was absolutely right: that was one of the juiciest, most flavorful cheeseburgers that I've ever had! It was so good that I have my husband the food that  I'd ordered from the other food truck and stood in line again to get myself a cheeseburger. Yes, that good.Next time I spot this food truck, I won't hesitate to get a burger for myself and for everyone who is with me!! More...

I've never actually eaten here, but I feel compelled to write a review due to the great service I received. We planned to have Fettes cater our event, however about a week before the event he let us know that he was accepted into a food show that he had applied to weeks ago and could no longer cater our event. Instead of making me start from zero with a week until my event, the team reached out to 5 similar food trucks and got availability, menus and quotes for me to evaluate. He then made introductions to the other food trucks that I was interested in. It's clear they care about great customer service, and because of that, they'll be my first choice for my next event! Where do I begin?.?.?.?.The only thing missing from my experience was a halo and angel wings on their pig logo because my schnitzel sandwich was from heaven! !!The place I work allows a food truck everyday to come in and sell us food. The folks I work with and I have tried most of them and are usually disappointed.  So much so, we have a few select trucks we'll order from but for the most part, we just smell their hot grease and don't order.  But I saw Fettes Schwein and knew I had to investigate.  Even if they decided against posting the menu online, I wouldn't have been disappointed. It may have been better that I didn't look online because it would have been an even bigger surprise when seeing it on the truck. That being said, I knew I had schnitzel in my future.  The guy that took my order was cool.  The gal that was cooking wore glasses like I do, on the face. . The food took as long as fresh schnitzel should take and was promptly delivered in between toasted bread with a lettuce tomato onion with a light dressing.  This sandwich hit the spot and was so good.  They are on the list of trucks to order and eat. Seek out this truck.  They work hard and their food is great. More...
