Shaun was great to work with and would highly recommend him for your editing needs.
I had to put together a short film that I shot a while back.
.. After hiring Shaun, he was able to do an assembly cut for the short in no time at all. He even didn't even have that great of on set notes to work with since some of notes were missing from the production. But Shaun was quickly able to understand the narrative and what I was trying to go for in the story.
I work with editors all day long so I have experience with producing short pieces. In this regard, Shaun is one of the best editors I have had the pleasure to work with as he takes notes and direction very well. He truly wants what's best for the project and has a passion to do the best he can.

Next year I will mark my 60th year in public television. 32 years of it were spent at KQED-SAN FRANCISCO, one of the flagship stations of the PTV system.
There I started in the late 1950’s as a Stage Manager-Floor Director and eventually became a Production Assistant, Producer-Director, and finally Executive Producer of Local and National Production, as well as EP of all On-Air promotion and fund-raising.I've produced THE THREE TENORS. LES MISERABLES IN CONCERT, FRANK SINATRA-THE VOICE, and concerts by PERRY COMO (an Irish Christmas), HARRY BELAFONTE, and CAROL KING!! For the last 19 years as an Indy, I have co-produced and directed biographical performance Specials on THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS, THE KINGSTON TRIO. and LIBERACE. One on the

My task at hand last week was to produce/direct a 7-minute short documentary on my 91-year old sister Renee Cary, who passed away in July. So..the version had put together for me was used for a 10am run thru Friday morning. Luckily I received permission from the Coordinator of the Event the next day to send them a revised version to be downloaded later that day onto her laptop. So I googled SANTA BARBARA EDITORS and up came the word THUMBTACK. Those folks asked me the critical questions, whose answers would lead them to recommend someone who mainly could do the job THAT DAY Friday in order to download it that evening. AND that’s exactly what happened due to the EXTRAORDINARY
skills and terrific personality of SHAUN KHAN of FD Productions!!!! When SHAUN CONTACTED me and I found out he was in LA, while I was in Santa Barbara — I thought “same old same old”. Well i couldn’t have been more wrong!!!! Shaun explained to me on the phone that we would do the edit session using SKYPE to link us together. So we did and I was able to see and hear on my IPAD EVERY edit that he did after we were able to discuss what it was to entail—down to the VERY IMPORTANT to me! We just utilized Shaun's services to shoot a challenging indoor/outdoor video of a home listing in Seal Beach. On the day Shaun arrived, the wind complicated the outdoor video shoot using his state of the art hectacopter. He spent a generous amount of time filming the interior and mapping out how he would shoot the exterior upon his return.A week later when the weather improved, Shaun returned promptly on schedule to resume the exterior video shoot. He came prepared with additional battery packs, and went above and beyond by filming areas of the beach that were outside the scope of the project and beyond my expectations. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There are two very important questions when dealing with a video production. Who is the audience? What is the concept? Once you have those two questions answered, we at FD Productions have the experience to aid and guide our clients through the rest of the process. Once the critical content is finalized. We will use our knowledge of high quality digital cinema to help you visualize the concept and explain the tricks of the trade that will allow the final product to emote the desired effect on the target audience. What we create is always a unique project. When it comes to the details that need to be thought out and decided upon, we will provide choices for the proper solutions and explain the importance of each element needed or why we think it is not necessary. The actually elements required at times may seem a bit endless but we can help you choose the best solutions such as; whether the use of a green screen would greatly enhance your production, the best technical frame rate for your project to be recorded in, the final running time for your production, type and size of crew needed, casting for both on screen and voiceover talent, how to incorporate Ariel footage into your project properly, if you need graphics and how they may enhance or distract from the production, the proper sound design and how it can be used not only to save on cost but also how it can enhance the production value of the final product. If the creative elements are perfect but the producer cuts corners and doesn’t assemble the right crew or does not have the technical knowledge or proper tools to capture the project properly, then the project suffers greatly and has a very high probability of being unsuccessful for the client. If the cinematography, compositions and the appropriate film techniques of the production are flawless but the producer does not have the experience, aptitude, or creative insight to aid and direct the client in the best creative solution you then have a technical perfect product that misses the vision and lacks the creativity required to provide the desired result and properly impact audiences. The two main components of this equation are creative content and technical quality are the most important elements clients must focus on. That is why we at FD Productions make it our sole priority to deliver both cinematic production value and follow the rules of proper cinematography on a consistent basis.

What inspired you to start your own business?
During my early 20’s, I used to fly remote controlled helicopters with friends as my favorite pastime. During one of those days, a friend had brought along a consumer-grade Sony action video camera. Just as the sun dropped below the horizon, I attached the camera to the helicopter just for kicks and a personal memory to film my first night flight. I hit the record button; launched the plane and after a few minutes landed it successfully. To my utter amazement, the very first clip I captured was that of a shooting star in the distance. After that experience, I was hooked.
I had always known and enjoyed the power and influence of motion pictures but that was the first time I was a part of capturing that power. Since then, it has been my passion and profession to effectively and efficiently help others visually capture their own version of a “shooting star” while telling a story.
Why should our clients choose you?
When establishing new customer relationships, we take our time on making sure we are producing the right story our client would like us to depict, the concept development and pre-production with their specific project. We place utmost importance on clear communication, and we do all we can to ensure our motion pictures attract the exact target demographic and audience are meet at every stage of production. We do this by producing a piece in which the message the client wishes to convey is captured in a technically sound and professional manner, composing the proper shots and ensuring all creative elements used are enhanced and used properly.
Film Production
Filmmaking (or, in an academic context, film production) is the process of making a film, generally in the sense of films intended for extensive theatrical exhibition. Filmmaking involves a number of discrete stages including an initial story, idea, or commission, through screenwriting, casting, shooting, sound recording and reproduction, editing and screening the finished product before an audience that may result in a film release and exhibition. Filmmaking takes place in many places around the world in a range of economic, social, and political contexts, and using a variety of technologies and cinematic techniques. Typically, it involves a large number of people, and can take from a few months to several years to complete.
Video Production
Video production is the process of producing video content. It is the equivalent of filmmaking, but with images recorded digitally instead of on film stock. There are three stages of video production: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production involves all of the planning aspects of the video production process before filming begins. This includes scriptwriting, scheduling, logistics, and other administrative duties. Production is the phase of video production which captures the video content (moving images / videography) and involves filming the subject(s) of the video. Post-production is the action of selectively combining those video clips through video editing into a finished product that tells a story or communicates a message in either a live event setting (live production), or after an event has occurred (post-production).
Today, the majority of video content is captured through electronic media like an SD card for consumer grade cameras, or on solid state storage and flash storage for professional grade cameras. Video content that is distributed digitally often appears in common formats such as the Moving Picture Experts Group format (.mpeg, .mpg, .mp4), QuickTime (.mov), Audio Video Interleave (.avi), Windows Media Video (.wmv), and DivX (.avi, .divx).
