My dog and cat are patients at Family Pet Clinic. But the week before Christmas I had to make the heartbreaking but necessary decision to put down my beloved rescue cat of 12 years. Not only did the staff show incredible humanity and empathy toward my sweet cat (and also to me during this awful time), but a week later I was surprised by the most touching condolence card in the mail, not just signed by everyone, but each person actually took the time to write something special to us. I cried as I read what each person wrote, and I am so grateful for the love and compassion shown to my husband and me during our time of grief. Needless to say, Family Pet Clinic is amazing with all of its patients, and I will always bring my pets there for well visits and sick visits. Dr Menninger is the best vet ever. I wouldn't take my fur babies anywhere else. She's been my veterinarian for almost 30 years. I have never had even 1 bad experience, and we've had an array of health issues with different animals over the years. I trust her explicitly. We moved to this area 2 years ago and we always took our dog back to northeast Philly when there was a problem , with me and my wife's hectic schedule , we needed somewhere close to take our dog , because she was scratching so much. We drove passed the family pet clinic many times and decided to try it, made the appointment, showed up 5 minutes before , filled out some paperwork and they took us right in. The nurse attended to us and she told me that she worked at the same vet in northeast Philly  that we went to before, she was very nice! The vet came in looked her over and thought that it maybe her food, overall everybody was very friendly, I had no issues , I will be back , they even called for a checkup to see how my dog Bella was doing? Doctor Forwood was the most compassionate vet I have ever seen, the love and care she gave in helping my sweet pup cross the rainbow bridge can never be repaid. The service and care the entire staff have given to my dog over the last 8 years was the best. I got an appointment the next day for my pup, which was great, but it wasn't a good time, so it was alright. Then, they were 30 minutes late for my appt, of which I was early 10 minutes for! So, I waited 40 minutes in total, with no apology from FPC. However, after that, they were stellar. They didn't muzzle my dog (which another vet tried to force on me due to the fact the vet themself didn't introduce themselves properly to my dog.) and gave her treats the whole time and my dog become comfortable in the space, which was much appreciated! The doctor, Dr. B, was nice, but he was hard to hear. I do wish they followed through with scheduling my next follow up appointment, but I had to call back after I left without the front desk saying anything, which I dislike because the customer shouldn't have to think about those little things, especially when they're paying! We’ve been going to Family Pet Clinic since we moved to the area 18 years ago. The staff is friendly, knows their stuff, and gets to know each family and their pets. They’ve treated all of our dogs and cats and well keep going there for as long we have pets. The hours are convenient for people who need to have late or weekend appointments. They seem fairly priced. I have not had a problem yet. Every vet I've used seems to be competent and understanding. I have had 2 dogs with Addison's disease, they understand low dose protocol which is important. The technicians are very experienced and great at educating and training other team members and vet tech externs. The Doctors are all very knowledgeable and personable. The manager was very accommodating to my schedule and easy to talk to. The entire staff from reception to kennels work together as a team and actually care about each other and the patients! Started here part time while i was in technician school in 2001 and have grown to a point where i can be trusted by the management to do everything in the practice. This included my passion for behavioral health, they allow me to see and schedule my own appointments and run weekend puppy classes in my hopes to purse a higher behavioral health degree. I've been working here since March 2005. I started out as a kennel attendant. While I still do kennels I have learned a lot around other areas of the practice as well. I also do Vet Assistance now and have learned so much in the last 14 years. Everyone is like family, they really care about your well being and happiness. I like being able to have one on one time with our boarder clients. It really helps you get to know each individual pet and what they like and don't like. It's an enriching job. There's countless opportunities for continuing education and conferences you can attend each year. We also get to involve ourselves in community events.
