BEWARE THE LATE CANCELLATION FEE
They are VERY strict with their late cancellation policy. You will be charged $100 if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment.
I’ve been going to therapy and many other professional appointments for nearly 15 years. They *always* have you sign a “late cancellation fee” at in-take. It’s usually a $50 fee and I’ve never once seen it actually enforced. They did waive the fee once, but because I had a second emergency, I was charged $100. I explained my situation in detail and practically begged them to not charge me because I don’t have the money to spare. I was ignored.
I don’t know what they’re thinking having such a strict policy when treating people with severe mental health issues. My life and health are incredibly unstable and I can barely work because of it. $100 is a lot of money to me, and I feel like I’m just being punished for having the exact issues I’m asking them to treat. God forbid you get COVID during this global pandemic…or have unpredictable children to care for, or you get in a wreck. They basically look at you struggling with an emergency and give you an extra kick while you’re down.
Unless you’re confident you’ll never have more than one emergency and have to cancel, I suggest looking for a practice that has a more lenient policy and fee. Only being allowed one emergency and then being charged $100 is NOT normal.
Personally I cannot continue to support this business, despite having a great relationship with my therapist. I don’t want to deal with the anxiety of being excessively punished if something goes wrong on the day of my appointment.

The atmosphere of the office is so calming and peaceful. Music, Essential oil diffusers, sound machines and flavored seltzer water/coffee or tea to drink while you wait! Front desk staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. I googled counselors in wilmington,NC and the name of the office caught my attention so I clicked on the website. I went through the list of counselors and read all the information about them and their specialties. Megan Havel seemed like a perfect fit and she really is!! I am so glad to have chosen this office because Megan has been wonderful in helping me through some heavy stuff I've been dealing with my whole life and a recent pretty traumatic car accident. She is so understanding,kind, very informative and I never feel judged which was a big deal for me having never gone to a counselor before.
