My parents had their wedding here 15 years ago, hasn’t changed except refurbed the entrance. Good value for money. Nice place for lunch but needs booking well in advance, £25 pp for lunch included buffet starter, your choice of roast and buffet dessert. Great selection of starters with all hams, soup, breads, salads, fish etc. Dessert has many cheeses, trifles and toffee sponge however could do with some more chocolate plain puddings. Very pretty and always busy and good background for photos More...

We had our company off-site here at the end of October. We had all the rooms in the hotel and were looked after from the minute we arrived until we left a day and a half later. All the bedrooms were very well decorated and comfortable and the conference facilities were just what we wanted (but please fix the door that bangs shut in the meeting room!) Food was very good and surprisingly we were not asked to pre-order before our arrival which made a refreshing change for a larger party. All our requests were accommodated without fuss, including our murder mystery evening! Would recommend for a business event or personal visit. More...

We stayed here on our way back from a Christmas shopping trip in Sheffield as a treat to ourselves. It did not disappoint. The room had a four poster bed & jet spa bath. Breakfast was cooked to order, with plenty of choce.|The hotel is charming, with a nice welcoming feel, however, it does need some tender loving care. The information folder in the room is excellent, providing not just the hotel information, but details of walks (and a motor ramble) in the area, including history of the villages on the route. We stayed here as we had a day trip to Stonehenge and Salisbury the next day (30/ 40 minutes away). Ended up staying 2 nights just for the evening meals. What a little gem. Great hosts and a great welcome. Room, while a little dated by some standards, fitted the atmosphere of the manor. It was a large room with big ensuite and large bath. Water pressure in the shower was weak. Room was quite warm and was able to turn off the heaters but the underfloor heating was enough to keep the room OK. Nice touches with home made shortbread in the room each night (we stayed 2 nights). The evening meals in the dining room were first class. We choose from the Bistro menu which was cheaper but was just as well presented as the tasting menus appeared to be. The chicken and linguine topped the lot I think. If we make it back this way again, this is where we will stay. More...

Stayed overnight as close to a course we had the next day. Dinner was included in the stay and it was excellent. Superb flavours and good quality food. I had the wild mushroom risotto and bakewell for dessert. Well presented and delicious. the bakewell won with a superb raspberry sorbet on the side. Very crisp and fresh. It looked like there were a few people there to enjoy the tasting menu, which they all seemed to be enjoying. The room itself was spacious with a generous en-suite including both a shower and a free standing bath. Rooms were quiet and more than comfortable. Asked for a wake up call, which came when I asked. Again breakfast was very good, a nice mixture and the best poached eggs I've had in a long time. More...

I had been wanting to sample the tasting menu here for some time. I had seen the offer on Groupon which looked rather good but wanted to make something extra of it for my wife’s birthday. |I rang to check availability of a room. I was offered a “very nice” room and 7 course dinner for £169 including breakfast.||On arrival we were shown to our room and told that we would be served tea and scones if we wanted, complementary. The room was indeed, I would go so far as to say it was excellent. It had a sunken whirlpool bath and a body massage shower. The bed was huge and very ornate. A very nice size TV and all other extras you could want.||We ventured downstairs for the scones. We had those in a smallish room which led out to the gardens. The scones arrived shortly afterwards. There were two for each of us, warm but definitely freshly baked. There were absolutely lovely as was the homemade jam and the generous dollop of clotted cream. Can not fault anything so far.||We went down for our evening meal and were led to the bar to await the table. We were served canapés whilst we waited. They were lovely - a cucumber gazpacho with flat bread and hummus, just enough to get the juices flowing.||After being seated in the restaurant we were given a keeping copy of the menu. I am not going to describe the contents of the meal other than to say it was fabulous. I even enjoyed the elements that I wouldn’t ever order, such as the oily fish which I don’t really like but was ok with here.||The entire meal was brilliant from starters through mains to two deserts. Would I repeat the experience, most definitely yes.||The staff are all very friendly and more than helpful nothing is too much trouble. Don’t hesitate to come here to eat, and if you can stay as well, you won’t regret it. More...

I think the sign at the gate says it all, 2 AA Rosettes but a 3* hotel. It was very nice and cosy, clean and comfortable but just a little tired. The bathroom had a few cracked floor tiles and missing grout. You could see that the toilet had been updated as the shape of the previous one was still obvious on the floor. The wash basin and bath taps were missing the hot tap ends. The shower though was excellent with loads of pressure. We had the 7 course tasting menu with the wine selection and that was a highlight. Portion sizes and time between courses just right. Staff were attentive without being overbearing so overall a delightful experience. Breakfast was a little disappointing with tinned fruit but that was more than made up for by the well prepared and generous smoked salmon and scrambled egg. More...
