We had to throw a wedding togerher in five weeks time because my daughter's fiance is in the Marine Corps. and so he has certain time constraints that we had to be able to work with in order to pull this wedding off! . We had our wedding at the powelton in newburgh in the chilly month of december. Erik did an amazing job on capturing special moments of the day! Erik is a consummate professional and outstanding photographer. He snapped our August wedding, which encompassed three venues and two homes over an eight-hour period, and didn't miss a beat.
He nailed the big spots, took great formals and, most importantly, captured those awesome spontaneous moments that make a wedding personally perfect. When Erik met with us, he noted that his goal was to document the day without intruding, be a fly on the wall, so to speak. He did exactly that.
And his photos are terrific. Erik sent us an immense amount of digital proofs along the way, allowing us to quickly share with family and friends who didn't attend the wedding. And he edited anything we needed, handing us our discs promptly. The shots are beautiful. He has a strong eye and is a master of manipulating light. Our batch of finals includes a handful of photos we instantly framed and hung.
Erik met with us at the beginning of the process, then checked in as we neared the wedding. I made final adjustments with him just before the weekend, and he was prompt and prepared for his shift. Our guests who had a moment with him loved him. We did, too.

I have to say that I was very happy with Erik. He came to my home and took pictures of my big family. I know how hard it is to take pictures of five kids including an infant and toddler but Erik did a wonderful job. Especially he was so patient and understanding with my 2 year old. What do you love most about your job?
Art. Spontaneity. Candid moments. Those are the three words that best describe what Erik Christian strives for at every wedding he photographs and every photo he takes.
He started my photographic career shooting nature as art. Erik strived to capture the beauty of the moment and share it with the rest of the world. Over time his focus shifted away from nature and natural light to portraits, weddings and the use of creative lighting techniques. Erik wants to translate the moments of the day and the beauty of the bride into a work of art.
Erik was trained by a photojournalistic wedding photographer and still works closely with photojournalists. This close relationship created a unique combination in his photographs, blending storytelling and art.
During a wedding he will capture the bride and groom in natural and relaxed poses. He tries hard to steer away from static posed images and cheesy grins. Erik works to get those candid moments that are real and not staged. During the wedding he won’t ask you to pose or look towards the camera. He let you have your day and will go about getting the images you want.
Weddings are about romance. For the formal portraits and photos of the bride, Erik uses special lighting techniques and equipment to create a portrait that doesn’t look like it was taken by just anyone. He wants your portraits to look like they were taken with studio lighting, without the need for it to actually be present.
Look over Erik’s portfolio of wedding photographs and even his portraits and commercial work. You will see the quality of light (dramatic, creating depth and texture) in all his photos.
He hopes to create works of art from your wedding as well.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started as an editorial newspaper photographer and moved into magazine, portrait and wedding photography. I found that my photojournalistic style worked great at weddings to capture those special fleeting moments that often pass everyone by. So I decided to move into wedding photography.
