Understanding my strengths with Richard helped me to grow in confidence and develop the skills needed to make a significant transition in career. Now I’m trusting my talents and using my strengths to communicate in new ways and with new people.

For a while I was unhappy at work, so the timing was key for Richard to help me identify my strengths, and in particular those that weren’t being satisfied; Futuristic and Maximiser. I was then able to focus on those that I could satisfy; Empathy, Individualisation and Relator. By working closely with colleagues, communicating and developing people around me, I enjoyed each day, returning home in a good mood.

Soon after I decided to make a significant change in my career, handing in my notice to look for a role and company where I could celebrate all my strengths. Richard helped me here too, developing confidence, trust in my abilities and communicating effectively.

I still think about my strengths a lot and work with Richard to not only understand myself better, but also those around me.

Q&As

I see the potential in my clients, even when they themselves sometimes fail to see it. It is a wonderful thing to set someone off on a journey of self-discovery and have the privilege to accompany them. Many of my clients have been facing significant issues/challenges in their home/work life and I have been able to shed light on a new path for them to tread as they tackle their situation to improve their circumstance and their self.

Richard’s career began as a youth worker, running youth provisions and services and then as an education and employment specialist for serious and prolific offenders in the youth justice system. This was followed by moving into central government, working in the Department for Education, Department for Work & Pensions and Public Health England, developing and implementing national policy. In recent years, Richard has been offering his consultancy services to the education sector on issues such as, emotional wellbeing and intelligence, pastoral and behavioural strategies, staff welfare and leadership development. This ultimately led to training and accreditation, through Gallup, as a strengths based coach.

To get the most out of what you naturally do best, you need a coach. Someone trained to help you turn your talents into strengths and use them effectively.
