We stayed here as a group and were really impressed with not only the hotel, but the way in which the management and staff looked after us. This hotel is a must if you want to get away from it all, and is an excellent base for exploring the area of Exmoor. ||Nothing was too much trouble and food was excellent. Everyone in our group was blown away with the service and friendly way the hotel was run, and is probably on our itinerary for next year when we meet up for our reunion. Why go anywhere else was the feedback from us all!! Andrew even gave us a talk on the history of the hotel one evening which was really informative and enjoyable. ||One of the best hotels we have stayed in is the highest accolade we could give. The facilities, staff and management were all brilliant. Thank you so much for your care and professionalism. More...

Stayed at Simonsbath House Hotel for the first time last month. Received a warm and comforting welcome after a tiresome and very challenging journey. Lovely room with well chosen decor and beautiful view over the Barle Valley (Lorna Doone and all that!)||This is a very old house with a proper fire and button-back leather furniture in the downstairs heart of the property with an adjacent snug and well supplied Bar. Enjoyable locally sourced food and good wine list. I understand they have done themed weekends such as Yoga/ Wine Tasting and Murder Mysteries and are planning more for 2020. More...

My mother and I have been here for the Murder Mystery night every year for about a decade. Simply put: it's wonderful! The history of the house is amazing and there is nothing better than switching off from the outside world, curled up on the sofa next to the open fire. Your hosts are warm and attentive: they are the friendliest people you'll meet! The rooms are always spotless and comfortable. And the food...oh the food! Local produce that is varied and delicious with a great choice always available on the menu. The Murder Mystery night is always fantastic and made more so by the atmosphere created in the house. While I haven't done one, I know they do great walking holidays. So if you want to cut off from the world (there's thankfully no phone signal!) and relax, visit! You won't regret it! More...

This grand old house was for us the best of a bunch of others, some more expensive than Simonsbath House that we stayed at in Somerset. For the house, the rooms, the ridiculously beautiful and quiet location, and the very helpful, approachable and knowledgeable owners it was just great! We stayed in two double rooms with views into lovely Barle valley from the front of the building. Warm comfortable and super clean rooms with very nice touches, one allowing a dog. Breakfast is substantial including cooked and cereals, fruit etc. We also ate there in the evening, and they even catered to our vegan diet (advance request for vegan supper dishes, but breakfast is easily catered for). Very lucky to have been given two rooms after we travelled there to enquire. More...

The staff were so friendly and the owners Andrew and Louise went out of their way to chat and give us advice on good walks and places to visit. Despite the fact that we were the only diners for the first two nights, the menu was excellent, a lot of choice and on the third night the chef put on an extra dish just for my husband who had loved it on the first night!
