English Painter

I hired the English Painter to paint the interior of a recently purchased semi (excluding the basement and the trim), constructed in C. 1917. My goal for the project was to bring back some of the original colours to the house. I knew I would need a painter who believed in quality and was used to the older houses in the east end of Toronto. I do not believe I could have made a better choice than the English Painter.Gareth and his employees were knowledgeable, precise, and understood my goals with the project. Gareth even gave me several pieces of advice on where to find antique furniture to begin furnishing the house and doorknobs to complement the original door. They properly fixed a large section of cracked plaster in the hallway, and even took the time to investigate a possible water leak from the upstairs bathroom. A budget company would not take the time to do that, they would paint and leave without notifying the owner that there may be a more serious problem. Checking the leak was, to me, a mark of the quality of their character.In short, if you want painters who are professional, experienced, and care about both you and the job, look no further. We were very happy with the English Painter's painting job in one of our bedrooms. Gareth also replaced with dry wall the the old plaster ceiling that had fallen down and even fixed a couple of doors. They did an excellent job of cleaning up all the plaster dust. The English Painter's were easy to work with--simply contacting Carol with details of what we needed done and our colour selections and then booking a date. We booked for our whole top floor and stairway. She was even able to squeeze in time to have some extra painting done on our main floor (the top floor looked so good, we had to continue!), working with our tight schedule. Gareth and his team arrived on time and were very professional. I wanted our kitchen walls, ceiling and trim to be painted. They had all the necessary equipment to do the job. They had a difficult time with our ceiling as it was a very humid day and Gareth was having to fight off the ceiling bubbling in places. He was able to get the issue resolved and everything turned out beautifully.The prep work they did was fantastic ensuring everything was covered and protected prior to painting. We had used English Painter to paint our tudor exterior 2 years ago. Many compliments from neighbours. Knew that we would go back to Gareth to update our interior.
House is transformed from 1990s to 2019. Painting done by English Painter's crew in 3 days. Wayne, a master with putty took away all the cracks, dents and holes from 30 years of living. Saved me from needing to replace a bedroom door. Attention to all trim including doors, frames and baseboards shows off the finished job. Helped me hang my favourite pictures back up so I didn't ding the new paint job. Helped move back heavy dresser and mirror. New kitchen light connected.
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter was the perfect colour. Depending on daylight looks taupe/greige.
Will have them back to paint new woman's cave, office and utility rooms.

Above and Beyond expectations! 2+ years after painting our condo, we're undergoing mandatory building plumbing refit. I highly recommend the English Painter! They painted my entire 1 bedroom condo over approximately three days. Their work is very high quality. When I returned home at the end of each day all of the furniture was put back and the space was clean. After they painted my living room they could tell I wasn’t happy with the colour. Gareth helped me pick out a new paint, redid a days’ worth of work, and only charged me for the paint, not the labour. It’s very important to them that the client is happy. Without prompting, my building’s concierge told me they had been very kind and respectful - even bringing her donuts! - and she asked for their contact info so she herself could use their services. I can't do much better than to echo and agree with all the positive reviews posted here for English Painter.
I own what I guess is one of the last homes in Toronto covered completely with wood siding- 2 storeys, peeling, mouldy in parts, not so good. An onerous job I was not looking forward to.
But English Painters made it pretty much pain free. They did a top-notch looking job fast and well, and were also very helpful with other related related things like putting up a new porch light and assisting me with replacing some rotted stair steps.
I think it always pays to go with guys who enjoy their work. English Painters were certainly like that. More...

Gareth and his team were a treat to work with. The painting on our aging 3-story house was expertly done, and two rotted wood sections were removed and replaced at no extra charge.
There was one minor blip--we somehow missed the emailed notice of their start date, and were quite surprised to arrive home from a trip to find the work in progress. We hired English Painter to do our new home, every paintable surface needed to be done! Despite the constraints of having to work around other contractors outside our or their control, all the work was done with good quality and care! We are happy with the service provided! We recently hired the English Painter to paint the entire exterior of our house. Gareth came out to give us a quote earlier in the Spring and was very clear on the work required, when it could be done and a no pressure quote was provided within a day or two. I cannot say enough about Gareth and his team (Liam and Alizio). They painted our entire house in a week and that included patching up all our walls, the ceiling and hanging up all our paintings. All of them were very nice, professional and so easy going. Really appreciated the fact that they cleaned up our house every night they finished and left everything in areas that were out of the way.
