Tim from Zero Kitchens was a great find! I was very lucky. I wanted a kitchen that as far as possible, and within budget, used sustainable products such as recycled glass worktops and birch ply carpentry. Tim was excellent to work with, and nothing was too much trouble for him, going above and beyond what I expected. Everything was bespoke and beautifully made. Tim ensured that his design was just right for me personally, for example, making sure that the units took my height into account. The project was finished on time and on budget. I was referred to Tim by a neighbour who had used his services. What a find! I had obtained several designs to re-do my small kitchen over the years but was always left wanting. Tim came up with a creative use for the space and could supply the cabinets at a reasonable cost using eco-friendly materials. He is pleasant to deal with and has been very patient with the inevitable revisions and questions that occur in a kitchen revamp. We wanted to make the kitchen the centre of the house but we did not know how to achieve it. Tim worked with us to design and create the heart of the home and has delivered on design, aesthetics, budget and practicality. What do you love most about your job?
Each kitchen design brings a new set of challenges so creating and delivering a kitchen or dining/living area for someone that ticks all their boxes and gives them and their home a new exciting boost is hugely rewarding.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Engine House Kitchens is a relatively new venture, but we have been in the business for over 20 years. One of our key suppliers is also our company, which we believe reflects our passion for what we do.
Zero came about after helping our kids out with school eco projects. Their research led them to plenty of green building products for construction of new homes, but nothing eco to furnish them inside with.
This, coupled with an ever growing demand for sustainable and responsibly sourced materials, led us to look at how this balance could be addressed. With the combination of new eco products available and 20 years experience in the kitchen industry we have successfully created the solution.
Whilst there are many companies out there that offer alleged 'Eco' products, ours is one of the very few who truly offer a sustainable alternative to the main market place. As we say: Our kitchens don't cost the Earth!

Beyond the basic function of storage and preparation kitchens are no longer kitchens, they are the heartbeat of the home. A space for everyone and everything. We take this knowledge to heart when we are designing a new project.
We focus on our relationship and understanding of our clients' needs and aspirations, in order to deliver their project solution on time, within budget and their design ambitions.
Kitchen design and planning
We offer a full design service. This can be a stand alone design service if that is all that is required. We would obviously prefer to fulfill your every wish but understand that this is sometimes not necessarily what is needed. In this instance we can offer a full spatial design service, which covers not only the kitchen area, but the rest of the home too. Our fees start from £150 but will be dependent on what is ultimately involved.
Kitchen Design & Supply
Our bread and butter is designing kitchens that suit you and your needs, from a studio flat to a high end residential installation. Our design is incorporated as part of our service so no up front costs are involved. We take pride in addressing every element of your requirements, as well a introducing a few things you may not have thought of! As our reviews state, we listen to what our clients really want and take great pride and pleasure in turning them into reality.
Kitchen Supply only
We also offer to supply a kitchen, or other furniture, with you arranging and supplying the fitting team. We are happy to discuss every element of any kitchen fit with all respective trades once the design and specification has been agreed by you. We will also issue mechanical and electrical drawings for trades too.
Other furniture
We can also supply you with most other forms of furniture for your home, from fitted wardrobes, to study desks, to bathroom vanity units. all we need to do is design it then we can make it. Simple.
