I've been going to Endurance Pilates since 2016 to work on my core, alignment & flexibility. I tell my friends and family how Endurance Pilates has changed my life. The teachers/instructors are top notch, welcoming and professional. I've had private sessions with both Julie and Lisa and they've been absolutely fantastic - both for my health and for fun conversations. I've done private sessions to quickly see improvements in my core muscles. If privates are not for you, their group classes are top notch as well.  I've done a fair amount of research on Pilates and feel strongly that you have to find the right Pilates instructor who understands the human body well, doesn't take shortcuts, makes sure you get what your body needs & pushes you as much as your body can handle. Endurance teachers are the best and I highly encourage you to look no further for your Boston Pilates needs! Thank you Julie & Lisa!Lastly, I'll have to mention that Julie Erickson is an inspiring individual who will always be working harder than any client/student would. Her injury recovery journey has been nothing short of a miracle that makes me tear up from time to time. Thanks for being an awesome inspiration! More...

I wanted to wait at least 3 months to fully capture my results, but the experience at Endurance has been so wonderful, I couldn't wait to review. First off let me say, that I have done Pilates for a few years now across NYC and Boston. I've taken privates in over 6 different studios over that time, classes in many, and came to love Pilates so much that I invested nearly 500 hours in teacher training in the hopes I could comfortably practice at home. While there are Pilates studios I have enjoyed in Boston, and I left feeling better, I was getting a bit restless that I was spending 45 minutes to an hour a day with no physical changes (you know the ones I'm talking about - tighter abs, lean legs, slim thighs, etc). I recalled taking a class at Endurance a few years back that kicked my butt, and although it was 25 minutes further than my current studio, I decided to check it out with a friend who was visiting, and also happened to love Pilates (I got her hooked!).I had the hardest Pilates workout with Julie that I had in years - in the BEST kind of way. Julie keeps her classes intentionally small to give you attention that you just can't find anywhere else - this is incredible to understand the proper alignment, breathing, and everything in between that is SO important in Pilates. My friend who does weekly pilates privates and classes, as well as being an athlete, was blown away too.I joined Endurance after that class and have been attending almost 2.5 months 3-4 times a week, sometimes less when traveling -- if my schedule permitted, I'd never miss a day! In those short 2.5 months of 1 private a week with Julie and complimentary classes, I have received more compliments when seeing Friends and Relatives than I received doing pilates for years anywhere else. They have been asking me what I've been doing to "have that dancers body", or complimenting me on my posture. It is also the first time my lower back pain has completely been resolved. All my other workouts are stronger because of my time with Endurance.(See Yelp for full review with tips) More...

My out-of-state friend who does weekly pilates privates and classes, as well as being an athlete, was blown away too.I joined Endurance after that class and have been attending almost 2.5 months 3-4 times a week, sometimes less when traveling -- if my schedule permitted, I'd never miss a day! It is also the first time my lower back pain has completely been resolved. All my other workouts are stronger because of my time with Endurance.Things I love at Endurance that I didn't know to look for as a pilates newbie:- Julie is certified and has years of experience in *multiple* pilates methods (and nutrition, and barre, and is an athlete herself, etc). This allows her to assess you and provide the best possible combination to *your* body and current state. She even tailors many of her classes based on who is in the room (endurancepilatesandyoga.…)- *Every* Endurance instructor is fully certified (in Pilates this is typically 500-1,000 hours of training +) to best understand sports injuries, prenatal/postnatal, rehabilitation work and just how to give you a killer workout. Many Pilates studios trainers are not yet fully certified, and when they are, you pay double/triple the price and when they're not - you risk not doing pilates correctly, which is so important for your results.- No instructors at Endurance let you cheat! In pilates it is easy to cheat, sometimes even unknowingly, as so many muscles are working at once and you have to be 100% present - all instructors are watching to ensure you are using all the core muscles and properly aligned. This gives you the body we all want for life. - If you're a man, an athlete or recovering from an injury/imbalance - without question, this is the studio in Boston for you. The experience here is unparalleled.- As a newbie I was all about Reformer -- but the best combination is Reformer, Mat, and my favorite, Tower with a dash of Barre. Endurance is the ONLY place in Boston that I know offers all of these in class size.I brought my friend who is an avid Bootcamp and cycler to Pilates for the first time, she had one private with Julie and bought a year package on the spot and is absolutely loving it.Tips:- Joselyn will not only keep you laughing, but she knows how to work your inner thighs like no other! She's one of my favorites.- The location for Boston is amazing, and the classes are intentionally intimate for the utmost attention. This makes for a boutique studio, so the entry area is smaller and it's best to show up within 5 minutes before. However, there is a full shower and area to get ready if you're running to work or an outing. - This is a secret I really don't want to let get out, but I've done Barre at Exhale, Barre3, the best teachers in Equinox, Pure, Boston Body etc - you haven't done Barre until you've done Julie's Barre. Your legs WILL change, your booty will lift and you will always be aligned to avoid strain that is common with Barre. - Pilates socks! Julie is so humble and sweet (as is Joselyn), that she won't tell you this but her waitlist for NYC was quite long. The fact you may be able book with her here in Boston, and have her be so genuinely invested in your long term results is really amazing and a rare find. When you take one of her classes (or a private, if you can!) - you'll know what I mean. More...

She is an amazing teacher that possesses the knowledge and skills not only to make a new student feel comfortable and welcome, but also the knowledge to rehabilitate a student who has undergone two very serious spinal surgeries. In almost half a century of life, I have rarely practiced and never enjoyed formal exercise, so I was in shock this morning when the alarm went off at 6:30am and I did not mind getting up to go to Pilates class. Note that it is January and the alternative was one more hour of sleep. I started classes at Endurance about five months ago, when osteoporosis, the first aches and pains of aging, and my doctor convinced me I had to get serious about taking care of my body. I decided to try Pilates at Endurance because it was described it a small studio with individual attention, and there were very positive reviews from people with health issues and injuries. From the first enquiry, Julie the owner, was very helpful and put my mind at ease.  I have had regular private classes with Lisa and she has been great in every way. Lisa is very knowledgeable and I feel perfectly safe in her hands, she is also excellent explaining positions and moves to a beginner like me, and she pushes enough so that there is always challenge and progress, but not so much as to overwhelm. I have also taken reformer classes (with Lisa and Julie) and, although I cannot compare with other studios, I have really liked them as well. Both Julie and Lisa are engaging, motivating and, because groups are limited to four people, they can pay attention to everyone and give great individual feedback. It is also worth mentioning that, as an older, inexperienced and not exactly long and lean person, I was concerned that I would feel out of place or self-conscious, but my experience has been exactly the opposite. There is a body and health positivity that I really appreciate, and, in my experience with Julie and Lisa, genuine warmth and the sense that they are really invested in helping you achieve your objectives and be well. The equipment keeps things interesting and challenging, adding a balancing act or a body positioning guide into several of the exercises. One year ago today I received an injury so severe that I would be left in the ICU for two weeks to endure the worst physical pain I have ever experienced. After getting out of the hospital, I felt betrayed by my own body and discouraged from ever working out again. It brought me to a dark place. Then,by what can only be thought of as sheer fate, I came across a beautiful new studio in my neighborhood called endurance. The next morning when I was walking my dog, I had the pleasure of meeting Julie, my angel in disguise. She took time out of her incredibly busy life to learn all about what had happened to me. She easily could have discouraged me from working out again, but instead she made it her mission to change my views on fitness and help me get my strength back. So I have to start this review off by saying that Julie is one of the most kind, heart-felt and genuine people I've met. I started going to Endurance through classpass and became acquainted w Julie because she's so friendly and charismatic towards everyone in her studio. Over that time I had suffered a bad concussion and was on a tough path to recovery. Julie noticed that the calming atmosphere of the studio, the personal attention and the physical components of Pilates were helping my healing process and offered me an unbelievably generous gift of membership to her studio. Of course in no way did she have to do any of this but I believe she's the type of person who really cares about helping others and wants to see people succeed. These qualities carry over to the entire studio. If you attend one of her classes it's obvious how knowledgeable she is and how passionate she is about Pilates and helping people (and her staff are also great too). I've been to plenty of studios (thanks to classpass) where the classes are overcrowded and the instructors seem annoyed to be there. Endurance is extremely hands-on and since classes have only a handful of people in them, they are intimate and the teachers actually pay attention to and help you! Another thing I love about Endurance is how positive and encouraging the teachers are. They definitely push you, but don't make you feel stupid or embarrassed for not being able to do every position or move. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get in to Pilates or who's already a Pilates lover! More...

Pilates is what originally drew me in (which is now a passion of mine) but recently I have been taking a lot of their barre classes. Let me tell you... What a workout! These classes are very challenging but in a good way because you leave the studio feeling amazing and accomplished. (Be prepared to warm up by doing at least 50 push ups). Every instructor is fabulous- very attentive and extremely knowledgable. Class size is small, which is wonderful because you really receive that extra attention so you can perfect your form. Barre has seriously helped me tone, strengthen, and improve my flexibility over the past few months. I have tight hamstrings and it's amazing to notice that I can now do moves in class that used to feel impossible. Don't be intimidated when I say it is very challenging- it is fun and the instructors are upbeat and there to help you do your best. I feel very fortunate to be a student at Endurance.
