I've been going to Endurance Pilates since 2016 to work on my core, alignment & flexibility. I tell my friends and family how Endurance Pilates has changed my life. The teachers/instructors are top notch, welcoming and professional. I've had private sessions with both Julie and Lisa and they've been absolutely fantastic - both for my health and for fun conversations. I've done private sessions to quickly see improvements in my core muscles. If privates are not for you, their group classes are top notch as well.  I've done a fair amount of research on Pilates and feel strongly that you have to find the right Pilates instructor who understands the human body well, doesn't take shortcuts, makes sure you get what your body needs & pushes you as much as your body can handle. Endurance teachers are the best and I highly encourage you to look no further for your Boston Pilates needs! Thank you Julie & Lisa!Lastly, I'll have to mention that Julie Erickson is an inspiring individual who will always be working harder than any client/student would. Her injury recovery journey has been nothing short of a miracle that makes me tear up from time to time. Thanks for being an awesome inspiration! More...

I never write reviews, but this business consistently goes above and beyond. I have been taking group and private classes at this studio for years, and I am so please with my results. Both group and private classes will challenge you both physically and mentally to help you achieve the results you're looking for. All the instructors are incredibly kind and supportive. I also love how clean the keep the studio and all the equipment. More...

Beautiful studio! It's very calm and relaxing once you step inside. Check in is easy. The equipment and accessories are great to work with (heavy ball on your abs to maintain proper ab form). I enjoyed both classes (classic reformer with Lisa and classic tower with Julie). They are both very present, thoughtful and always watchful to help me keep proper form and posture. I will definitely come back to this studio whenever i visit boston. i highly recommend this pilates studio for all levels. i'm so happy i found it. More...

I wanted to wait at least 3 months to fully capture my results, but the experience at Endurance has been so wonderful, I couldn't wait to review.First off let me say, that I have done Pilates for a few years now across NYC and Boston. I've taken privates in over 6 different studios over that time, classes in many, and came to love Pilates so much that I invested nearly 500 hours in teacher training in the hopes I could comfortably practice at home. While there are Pilates studios I have enjoyed in Boston, and I left feeling better, I was getting a bit restless that I was spending 45 minutes to an hour a day with no physical changes (you know the ones I'm talking about - tighter abs, lean legs, slim thighs, etc). I recalled taking a class at Endurance a few years back that kicked my butt, and although it was 25 minutes further than my current studio, I decided to check it out with a friend who was visiting, and also happened to love Pilates (I got her hooked!).I had the hardest Pilates workout with Julie that I had in years - in the BEST kind of way. Julie keeps her classes intentionally small to give you attention that you just can't find anywhere else - this is incredible to understand the proper alignment, breathing, and everything in between that is SO important in Pilates. My friend who does weekly pilates privates and classes, as well as being an athlete, was blown away too.I joined Endurance after that class and have been attending almost 2.5 months 3-4 times a week, sometimes less when traveling -- if my schedule permitted, I'd never miss a day! In those short 2.5 months of 1 private a week with Julie and complimentary classes, I have received more compliments when seeing Friends and Relatives than I received doing pilates for years anywhere else. They have been asking me what I've been doing to "have that dancers body", or complimenting me on my posture. It is also the first time my lower back pain has completely been resolved. All my other workouts are stronger because of my time with Endurance.(See Yelp for full review with tips) More...

My out-of-state friend who does weekly pilates privates and classes, as well as being an athlete, was blown away too.I joined Endurance after that class and have been attending almost 2.5 months 3-4 times a week, sometimes less when traveling -- if my schedule permitted, I'd never miss a day! It is also the first time my lower back pain has completely been resolved. All my other workouts are stronger because of my time with Endurance.Things I love at Endurance that I didn't know to look for as a pilates newbie:- Julie is certified and has years of experience in *multiple* pilates methods (and nutrition, and barre, and is an athlete herself, etc). This allows her to assess you and provide the best possible combination to *your* body and current state. She even tailors many of her classes based on who is in the room (endurancepilatesandyoga.…)- *Every* Endurance instructor is fully certified (in Pilates this is typically 500-1,000 hours of training +) to best understand sports injuries, prenatal/postnatal, rehabilitation work and just how to give you a killer workout. Many Pilates studios trainers are not yet fully certified, and when they are, you pay double/triple the price and when they're not - you risk not doing pilates correctly, which is so important for your results.- No instructors at Endurance let you cheat! In pilates it is easy to cheat, sometimes even unknowingly, as so many muscles are working at once and you have to be 100% present - all instructors are watching to ensure you are using all the core muscles and properly aligned. This gives you the body we all want for life. - If you're a man, an athlete or recovering from an injury/imbalance - without question, this is the studio in Boston for you. The experience here is unparalleled.- As a newbie I was all about Reformer -- but the best combination is Reformer, Mat, and my favorite, Tower with a dash of Barre. Endurance is the ONLY place in Boston that I know offers all of these in class size.I brought my friend who is an avid Bootcamp and cycler to Pilates for the first time, she had one private with Julie and bought a year package on the spot and is absolutely loving it.Tips:- Joselyn will not only keep you laughing, but she knows how to work your inner thighs like no other! She's one of my favorites.- The location for Boston is amazing, and the classes are intentionally intimate for the utmost attention. This makes for a boutique studio, so the entry area is smaller and it's best to show up within 5 minutes before. However, there is a full shower and area to get ready if you're running to work or an outing. - This is a secret I really don't want to let get out, but I've done Barre at Exhale, Barre3, the best teachers in Equinox, Pure, Boston Body etc - you haven't done Barre until you've done Julie's Barre. Your legs WILL change, your booty will lift and you will always be aligned to avoid strain that is common with Barre. - Pilates socks! Julie is so humble and sweet (as is Joselyn), that she won't tell you this but her waitlist for NYC was quite long. The fact you may be able book with her here in Boston, and have her be so genuinely invested in your long term results is really amazing and a rare find. When you take one of her classes (or a private, if you can!) - you'll know what I mean. More...

I could not be more thankful for this studio, and Julie! She is an amazing teacher that possesses the knowledge and skills not only to make a new student feel comfortable and welcome, but also the knowledge to rehabilitate a student who has undergone two very serious spinal surgeries. Quite frankly, Julie and Pilates have been pivotal not only in my recovery, but also getting back into shape, as well as picking someone up when they are down! I wish it was possible to give 10 stars! Thank you Julie! More...

In almost half a century of life, I have rarely practiced and never enjoyed formal exercise, so I was in shock this morning when the alarm went off at 6:30am and I did not mind getting up to go to Pilates class. Note that it is January and the alternative was one more hour of sleep. I started classes at Endurance about five months ago, when osteoporosis, the first aches and pains of aging, and my doctor convinced me I had to get serious about taking care of my body. I decided to try Pilates at Endurance because it was described it a small studio with individual attention, and there were very positive reviews from people with health issues and injuries. From the first enquiry, Julie the owner, was very helpful and put my mind at ease.  I have had regular private classes with Lisa and she has been great in every way. Lisa is very knowledgeable and I feel perfectly safe in her hands, she is also excellent explaining positions and moves to a beginner like me, and she pushes enough so that there is always challenge and progress, but not so much as to overwhelm. I have also taken reformer classes (with Lisa and Julie) and, although I cannot compare with other studios, I have really liked them as well. Both Julie and Lisa are engaging, motivating and, because groups are limited to four people, they can pay attention to everyone and give great individual feedback. It is also worth mentioning that, as an older, inexperienced and not exactly long and lean person, I was concerned that I would feel out of place or self-conscious, but my experience has been exactly the opposite. There is a body and health positivity that I really appreciate, and, in my experience with Julie and Lisa, genuine warmth and the sense that they are really invested in helping you achieve your objectives and be well. I have taken many classes at Endurance, all of which have been amazing and challenging. Julia Stetson in particular is a phenomenal teacher and I cannot recommend her enough! Her knowledge and expertise are outstanding. She is invested in making sure that you have a solid workout and that you enjoy yourself at the same time. Not only is she extremely kind and patient, she goes out of her way to demonstrate postures and explain techniques (while keeping the rest of the class focused and on track) in a way that makes you grow in your Pilates practice every single class. I attended the "caregiver Pilates" class with my (crawling) 11 month old... it was fabulous! I got the best work out possible with the help of the instructor... as she chased and played with my son.  In an ideal world, it would be great to have other mobile babies in class so he could play with them instead. However, Endurance obviously can't control that! We will definitely be back! More...

I just love coming here to Endurance  Pilates! I have one session a week with Julie who is absolutely terrific! She gears everything to my level but certainly pushes me Beyond what I think I can do! For sure I go home sore but feeling great! I also take a morning Matt class with Josselyn who is also a fabulous teacher! I have found the classes are small and extremely intimate and personal. I would highly recommend Endurance Pilates for anyone and everyone to get their core tight in their health and energy up! More...

Everyone here is fantastic! I first did a free session of pilates in the park with Joscelyn, which was a lot of fun.  This is how I first heard about Endurance.  Joscelyn gave us a gift certificate for two free weeks at the studio at the end of our session.  I then called the studio and spoke with Julie (who I believe is the owner) to activate my gift certificate - she was super helpful and even gave me a few extra classes!  I went in the next morning and had a barre session with Laura.  I was the only one in the class, as apparently everyone else usually goes away for holiday weekends.  And she was fantastic - she pushed me in a very encouraging way and I didn't feel awkward and she didn't make me feel bad for me being the only one there.  For going only once so far, I am very happy with everyone I've talked to at this studio! I only wish I lived closer! More...

I came here this morning for the Pilates Basic Classical Mat class. Having only been to a few pilates classes before (at North End Yoga), I learned all kinds of new exercises. With Danielle at the helm, this class was an incredible workout. She makes use of not just a ring, but a wooden dowel and two different sized balls. The equipment keeps things interesting and challenging, adding a balancing act or a body positioning guide into several of the exercises. I walked away feeling a little sore and very accomplished! On a logistical note, they have you sign an electronic waiver before your first class, and when you arrive, you can check yourself in at a tablet by the door. The pilates classes are in a room downstairs that fits about 8-10 people, and they have mats available for everyone. More...

Julie is an outstanding instructor. I was fortunate to have private sessions during my first pregnancy and then session post partum. One year ago today I received an injury so severe that I would be left in the ICU for two weeks to endure the worst physical pain I have ever experienced. After getting out of the hospital, I felt betrayed by my own body and discouraged from ever working out again. It brought me to a dark place. Then,by what can only be thought of as sheer fate, I came across a beautiful new studio in my neighborhood called endurance. The next morning when I was walking my dog, I had the pleasure of meeting Julie, my angel in disguise. She took time out of her incredibly busy life to learn all about what had happened to me. She easily could have discouraged me from working out again, but instead she made it her mission to change my views on fitness and help me get my strength back. My recovery has not been easy, but my newly discovered addiction to pilates has done more for my physical and mental health than I could have ever predicted. Through countless (sweaty) hours working one-on-one with Julie and Lisa, I can truly say that I have never felt more proud and connected with my body. Words cannot describe how grateful I am that you believed in me enough to make me believe in myself again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart More...

I hesitantly bought a Gilt deal here in an effort to try out Pilates. I ended up falling in love with the PAIN class offered here on Monday nights. PAIN is a hybrid class that incorporates pilates, TRX, circuit training and tabata (and more). Even though I've been going since the end of August, it's still challenging. I feel like I learn a bit more each week. Since the class size is small, Julie will often give one-on-one feedback that is so often missing from many group class experiences I've had. I like knowing when I should correct my form, and more importantly HOW I can correct myself. Additionally, Julie is a very kind person. You can tell that she cares about the people who visit her studio, and aims to get everyone the best possible outcome. More...

Julie is an extremely knowledgeable and skillful trainer. She also creates a nonthreatening environment and provides excellent feedback to promote body awareness. She is kindhearted and fun. I took her Matt endurance Pilates training at the YMCA in Nashua New Hampshire this weekend. I am a group exercise instructor and I feel that this training and the knowledge that she imparted will equip me to be a better fitness instructor overall no matter what I'm teaching. I have taken two classes here and loved one and hated the other.I took Barre Boston basics with Julie and thought it was amazing! The workout was definitely not in my comfort zone and we did movements I was not familiar with, but man did I sweat. The class was extremely challenging but in a good way. there were only about 4 other people in my class and so it was hands on and intimate which was good. Highly recommend! The second class I took was a Pilates mat class with a male teacher. The class itself was very strange and not challenging at all. I felt like I had wasted my time going. The instructor was extremely nice, but the class definitely wasn't worth my time. More...

So I have to start this review off by saying that Julie is one of the most kind, heart-felt and genuine people I've met. I started going to Endurance through classpass and became acquainted w Julie because she's so friendly and charismatic towards everyone in her studio. Over that time I had suffered a bad concussion and was on a tough path to recovery. Julie noticed that the calming atmosphere of the studio, the personal attention and the physical components of Pilates were helping my healing process and offered me an unbelievably generous gift of membership to her studio. Of course in no way did she have to do any of this but I believe she's the type of person who really cares about helping others and wants to see people succeed. These qualities carry over to the entire studio. If you attend one of her classes it's obvious how knowledgeable she is and how passionate she is about Pilates and helping people (and her staff are also great too). I've been to plenty of studios (thanks to classpass) where the classes are overcrowded and the instructors seem annoyed to be there. Endurance is extremely hands-on and since classes have only a handful of people in them, they are intimate and the teachers actually pay attention to and help you! Another thing I love about Endurance is how positive and encouraging the teachers are. They definitely push you, but don't make you feel stupid or embarrassed for not being able to do every position or move. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get in to Pilates or who's already a Pilates lover! More...

After much research I chose Endurance when I decided to start Pilates three years ago and I followed the studio from Arlington to Boston. I work privately with Julie and take an occasional barre class. At the two year mark I had a major and very traumatic health crisis. Throughout my months of recovery Julie stayed in close touch and offered her help and support. When I was ready to exercise again, Julie made room for me in her busy weekly schedule and patiently, slowly and sensitively coached me back to full strength and confident well-being. Julie is personally committed to the experience of every student and customizes instruction accordingly. At Endurance you will be challenged beyond where you thought you could go... And amazed at what you find you can do. I am in the best shape of my life thanks to Julie and her talented staff. Give Endurance a try, it's a one-of-a-kind place. More...

I have been a student at Endurance for about a year and a half now. I can't even begin to express how much I LOVE this studio. I strive to attend classes at least 3x a week. Pilates is what originally drew me in (which is now a passion of mine) but recently I have been taking a lot of their barre classes. Let me tell you... What a workout! These classes are very challenging but in a good way because you leave the studio feeling amazing and accomplished. (Be prepared to warm up by doing at least 50 push ups). Every instructor is fabulous- very attentive and extremely knowledgable. Class size is small, which is wonderful because you really receive that extra attention so you can perfect your form. Barre has seriously helped me tone, strengthen, and improve my flexibility over the past few months. I have tight hamstrings and it's amazing to notice that I can now do moves in class that used to feel impossible. Don't be intimidated when I say it is very challenging- it is fun and the instructors are upbeat and there to help you do your best. I feel very fortunate to be a student at Endurance. They will push you hard, but the results are great. When I am out of town for work, I try to find nearby pilates/barre studios. Thanks to Endurance, I feel ahead of the game at other studios! If a Barre class at Endurance can't tone your body, I'm not sure what else will!!! I Highly recommend barre, pilates, and yoga at Endurance! More...

Went to my 4th class pass class at Julie's studio early on a very snowy Saturday morning.  There were only 2 of us registered, and I think it says a lot about her commitment that she didn't cancel the class.  We did an intro to barre class and got a lot of individualized attention.  She was positive, upbeat, and made sure our form was perfect throughout the class.  For someone beginning barre, this was invaluable and the reason why I will feel comfortable going back to her class and other barre classes.  As a runner, I'm now convinced that this is what I need to strengthen my core, glutes, and all the other muscles I don't pay any attention to while I'm out running. I have trained with Julie for many years and have followed her from Littleton, to Arlington, and now to Boston.  She is an incredibly gifted instructor who gets the best out of every student whether in a private or a class.  She is able to motivate and encourage her students while still setting the highest standards - which is why her students are so loyal and see fantastic results.  She is incredibly knowledgeable about classical pilates and creative in the workouts she designs.  Most importantly, though, is that she is always professional, ethical, and committed to her clients.I highly recommend Julie to anyone that wants to work hard and is serious about improving his or her health and fitness.
