Encompass Health, formally HealthSouth, is a rehabilitation hospital specializing in Stroke rehabilitation, hip fractures,brain and spinal cord injuries. They offer impatient and outpatient services for other disabilities but  do make sure that your specific condition is included in their program.Every speciality of medicine, therapy and all of the services you receive at a hospital can be continued while at this rehabilitation hospital. My father came here after his acute hospital stay for a brain injury. Upon admission, they develop a treatment plan which includes personalized goals and intensive therapy at least 3 hours a day, five days a week. Every day , each patient will follow a daily schedule with the same basic routine. Consistency is key in rehabilitation. From start to finish my father's team of clinicians were phenomenal.  They communicated with me daily on his progress and would even call me at home to give me updates on his plan of care or things they anticipate he will need at discharge. Samayra is one of the Occupational therapists there and she is outstanding. Her skills and communication with families is like no other. I am so grateful for people like her that go into the profession and strive to make a difference each day.I am pleased with the rehabilitation services my dad received at this facility and if I would highly recommend them for your rehabilitation needs. My father had a massive stroke and after a few weeks in the hospital we were able to move him to Encompass Rehabilitation hospital. When he transferred in he couldn't swallow properly and couldn't even sit up in bed. After a month, his eating and swallowing was almost back to a normal diet, and he was re-learning how to walk! It is a testament to my father's will and determination, but also to the amazing staff!They provide excellent Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy, which also included Cognitive Therapy. The specific Therapists assigned to the patient stay with that patient until they are discharged. Â This is awesome because they are able to accurately identify progress and areas that need improvement quickly. They not only took time to work with my father, but they got to know him. They also took time to get to know us, his family, and educate us on his challenges. We could not have asked for more caring and thoughtful staff!Thank so much to Matt, Ben, Courtney, Joy, and Laura! Because of you, Dad is well on his way to his old self!Our case worker, Nicole, was also a wealth of knowledge and support. She helped us understand our options, counselled us - even when we didn't like the answers - but most of all she advocated for my father and for us.When Dad ultimately gets to go home, we are hoping to be able to bring him back to Encompass for continuing out patient Therapy, yes, they have that too! So my mother was sent here for a short stay, it started out great, everyone was attentive, very helpful, and seemed to care for my mother. About a week into her stay the sewer backed up into her room, it was bad, the stench was awful. They made my mother sit in her wheel chair for 4 hours and never even called me. I found the charge nurse and told him it was not acceptable. He did find her another room to stay but still they did not call me, that is the main issue.My mother says they took great care of her, if not for that I would have given a lower rating, but she says they continued to apologize to her, they keep her meds up, and they always looked out for her. The food was actually good and I ate with her often. The staff worked her therapy sessions and she made excellent progress. I must say if not for them not keeping me informed they were great. Finally towards the end her case worker kept me updated and I appreciate that. More...

Back when they were Healthsouth, after my carpal tunnel surgery, I had 3 times a week for 4 weeks outpatient therapy. Â They did amazing work. They were always on time. The facility is spotless. The therapists and ancillary staff really take pride in what they do. I've recommended dozens of people for their outpatient and inpatient therapy. This place is hands down the best! More...

It's a great place! I was here most of last summer after being paralyzed. I've come back here for rehab after my surgery. The staff is caring and attentive and they make sure that you are giving your best effort through encouragement and inclusiveness . By keeping you in the planning of your own recovery there are no surprises and as long as you do the work, you'll find yourself improving. Oh yeah, the food is pretty good too! More...

Ok,. I've tried 4 times to get comments posted,.. I hate computers,.. This place ROCKS,... the "facility", well taken care of,.
.. like it is brand new,... the "'nursing staff", along with the CNA's, ..they are all "on it",.. no bad experiences on this part,.everyone seems to be very happy with their jobs,.. the "Therapists" are great also,.. they have a great system in place, to keep the pace, without hurting yourself, (Oh, keep a green leaf hidden in your wallet LOL),..
The therapy team consists of many younger, well educated people, that will bring out the best in you,... Be ready to do your part,...
The "support" people, Dietary, Houskeeping, Maintenance, right up there, the food is great, (request the Lasagna, kudos Miah),.. the place is spotless, and there is nothing in obvious disrepair,..
To sum it all up,.. everyone does their job, never heard anyone grumbling, (that's rare in these days),.. Would I utilize their skills again, Oh Yeah,.. more importantly, would I send Mom here, should the need arise,. Most Definitely,..

I love it here... I would highly recommend it... the staff is awesome and very caring... the food is great... the outdoor space is beautiful and wheelchair friendly. .. the physical therapy really makes me feel they are working for the needs .... the rooms are great with all the fixtures to essentials you need.... you feel very pampered, cared, and relaxed... the only bad part is leaving the hospital..... I don't ever want to leave.... I want this experience to last... I have nothing negative to say about # Health South#.... it has been a pleasure to stay here.... that I promise... I was just released on July 11th after having been in sooooo much distress, damage, detriment, and fear following a TBI, broken collarbone, etc that I received on June 4th.
..legitimately everyone who worked here was PHENOMENAL. As I type this without looking at the keyboard, I can say that when I showed up to this Rehabilitation Center, I could barely move. Half of my face didn't work at all, and I was lethargic and heartbroken; I thought I was about to lose everything.
Encompass Health, the Drs, the Nurses, the CNAs, the kitchen staff, and even the custodial crews, were a wonder. They soothed my panics willingly, they took a broken man and re-instituted the drive and work ethic I was so known for. I can walk again. I can move almost my whole face. I can blink my right eye almost completely. I can joke, speak literately, be articulate, and I eat like a PIG lol....
To those with fears and sadness concerning their condition, my empathy goes out to you. And if you're looking for rehabilitation that WILL take you into heart, and WILL go above and beyond for you, I would recommend Encompass Health of Littleton to any and all who need hope for recover. They WILL help you succeed, and they WILL make you smile.

Had a family member at Encompass. They were absolutely amazing. Everyone is smiling. Staff goes above and beyond to make sure the patients are happy and healing. Hospital food is typically bland and tasteless. The kitchen here though is top notch. Great variety of food. And the food tastes great. This place reminds me of the movieOne flew over the cucuoos nest with Jack Nicholson. Every nurse here is a nurse Thacher. One night the lame brain nurse claimed she could not find a vein in my wife's arm or wrist to start an I.V. line and they told me she would have to be transported to another  hospital to do a pick line. The paramedics picked her up 3 hours after they were called and took her over. When she got to the hospital the nurse had no problems finding  a vein and got her line started in less than  5 minutesWhy couldn't the nurses get her line started instead of keeping us out all night with this fiasco. Would not recommend you bring loved ones here unless you prefer to have great stress on your shoulders. I give it no stars More...

Thank You Health South! Â My 90 year old mother fell and broke her shoulder. Â South Health took such great care of her from Dr. Cardenas, the CNA's Paulette, Cecelia just to name a few, the nurses, the Physical Therapists and to Kairsten the case manager who kept me up to date and was always available if I had a question. Healthsouth is, hands down, , the best Rehab facility in Colorado. I have been in this Rehab Hospital for rehabilitation following surgery on two different occasions.
One was following a severe femur break and another following a more minor surgery.
The nurses and CNA's are attentive, compassionate and competent; the therapy teams of Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists are highly skilled and friendly, and provide the most extensive --3 hours per day--rehab program I have ever experienced.

My mother was just discharged from Health South after spending 2 weeks there. Â She was very satisfied with the care and therapy she received. Â She was given 3 hours of therapy each day: Â 1 hr. of one on one PT, 1 hr. of one on one OT and 1 hour of group therapy. Â Ilene, her physical therapist, was excellent. Â Kayleigh, her occupational therapist was also very good. Â The group therapy was not as useful or helpful, in her opinion. My mother spent two weeks here. Nearly every nurse was wonderful. The doctors and physical therapists were amazing. The only problem is that my mothers room mate was a disgusting woman who would leave fecal matter on the toilet and soiled underwear on the floor of their shared bathroom. This is very unsanitary and disgusting. This woman should have had her own room so no one would have to share with her.The meals were GOOD! Very large portions, all you can eat. Many different drinks and desserts for her to choose from. She did have to pay for sodas and snacks but that's fine, obviously if you want a soda you should pay. The employees remembered her name after one day and everyone was helpful and wonderful.Again, I was very very happy with her care here. I arrived for a ten day stay following the bodyshock of a laminectomy surgery, which successfully corrected a spinal stenosis condition. My surgeon had strongly recommended HealthSouth because of its healing and rehabilitation reputation. And, yes, amazingly I went from stretcher to cane-free walking during this short stay. But I also experienced emotional and spiritual transformations to complement my physical rebirth. The nurturing care, loving support, and individual attention I received from every staff member, regardless of shift or discipline, made me feel whole and valued in a way I hadn't in years. To me HS is a sacred healing space - so attentive, so committed to excellence, so much a loving family. I am so grateful for the care I have received, that I intend to return as a volunteer. All I can say is that I am full of gratitude to the entire staff at Health South. This is place is wonderful. Â Everyone was so nice and professional from the doctors, nurses, CNAs, therapists all the way down to the cafeteria workers. Â The physical and occupational therapy is top-notch, couldn't have asked for better care. You don't want to have to go to this place, but if you have major injury that needs rehab, this is the one to go to. I was very impressed by everything. The rehab is vigorous and demanding, and they do make a lot of progress before patients are bumped out because their Medicare benefits run out. The aides are attentive, but not all are pleasant, by any means. The nurses are mostly competent but medication errors have occurred because of a new computer system that is unfamiliar. If you are looking for a rehab for your family member who had a stroke, then this is the place. I cant thank them enough for all the help they gave me and my family in dealing with my dad who had a stroke. Special thanks to Baltany in OT, Rachel in speech and Bianke, the case manager who helped us get my Dad back home with everything he needs. We never could have done it without the home visit, all the supplies, the caregiver and training sessions we had. At first I thought my mom couldnt be trainined to do the tube feedings but your nurses helped teach her and me and we are doing it. The Aphasia support group has been wonderful for us too. I broke my right femur and left foot and was sent here from Rust Medical Hospital. Â My transport experience was not a pleasant one as the driver was very inconsiderate to my condition when he dropped my right leg when he released the leg brace. Â Upon my arrival to HealthSouth, everything turned for the best. Â The nursing staff and aids, OTs, and the cafeteria staff were all wonderful. Â I was very depressed being there as I was one of the youngest patients there and my injuries were severe enough that I couldn't be on my own. Â The above staff took great care of me and made sure I was on the road to recovery. Â Notice that I didn't mention my doctor because he was never around. Â It as the staff that healed me to get back on my feet, not the doctor. Â After my two weeks of staying there, I was sad that I was getting released because I felt like I was with family. Â When family and friends came to visit, they enjoyed not only the good food at the cafeteria but the price too. Â Best thing also is that they let the rehab dogs come to the facility to help the patient's morale boost up from being away from their own pets. My mom broke her leg 2 weeks ago, she had surgery at Pres, and was sent to HealthSouth for rehab. Â I've only good things to say about HealthSouth. Â First, Kevin, her PT guy, is wonderful. Â I know my mom is going to be stronger than even before she broke her leg. Â He pushes and prods, but he keeps on her, and she is really moving forward physically. Â The OT's, the nursing staff, the Techs, and her Dr have all been great. Â Plus, Â I went to visit her and ate lunch with her today, I had a great salad from the salad bar and roasted Turkey for $2.00. Â Seriously! Â I wouldn't stop in just for the food, but if your visiting a friend or family member it won't kill you to stay for a meal. Â My mom was so excited that I stayed and ate with her, that was worth it anyway. More...
