What is Auto Enrolment?
Auto Enrolment began in October 2012 for the largest employers and in the future it will be a legal requirement that all UK employees are included or opted out. By February 2018, all employers will be required to auto enrol their employees into a qualifying pension scheme, with individuals then having one month to ‘opt out’.

How can we help?
We work with a financial advisor to provide you with a seamless auto enrolment process for all of your members of staff.

The financial advisor will liaise with the pension provider on your behalf and draft the relevant documentation to ensure you are compliant. You will also have access to the financial advisor during the whole process to deal with any concerns you may have.

What are the benefits?
The financial advisor will look after the whole process for you to ensure that you meet all of your legislative obligations.
The administration of the auto enrolment process will be solely dealt with by the external financial services company.
An advisor can meet with each of your members of staff to discuss their financial situation at no added cost.

Our Driver and Vehicle Compliance Service has been developed in partnership with the Licence Bureau. Our online service is designed to reduce the administrative burden on your staff and to minimise the risk of prosecution to your business by ensuring that drivers are safe and legally compliant to operate vehicles whilst performing work-related journeys.

Our services include:
Driver Licence Checking
Guidance from the Department for Transport (DfT) and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) advises that employers must check staff driving licences on recruitment and at regular interval. To ensure you are fully compliant with Health and Safety and Road Traffic law it is vital you adopt robust procedures and audit trails to evidence regular driver licence checks. Failure to do so places the business at risk of prosecution. Our driver licence checking service helps reduce risk, saves time and resources and provides peace of mind.
Driver Risk Assessments
Our driver risk profiling tools can assess driving history and activity, knowledge of the Highway Code and hazard perception to identify drivers who may pose a higher risk of collision. This helps identify training needs and the development of tailored solutions to reduce risk and promote road safety. Driver Risk Assessments can be set up at specified intervals or can be triggered via our Driver Licence check alerts.
Grey Fleet Management
Employers have the same legal obligations for drivers that use their own cars for work (grey fleet) as they do for those driving company vehicles. Employers must ensure drivers are correctly licensed, hold business use insurance and that their vehicles are suitable and have valid tax and MOT certificates. Our Grey Fleet Management service allows you to remain compliant by through thorough checks of insurance, MOT and roadworthiness of vehicles are carried out.
Online Portal
All of the services are managed and accessed via an interactive online portal. The portal allows you to access and manage reports and alerts about your drivers to ensure you remain in control of your compliance obligations.

EmployAssist HR Insurance is tailored to fit your business and our services.

In an increasingly litigious world, staying up to date with the demands of employment legislation, regulations and directives can be very challenging. Few businesses can afford to budget for the large legal costs or management time associated with unexpectantly defending themselves against employment claims, some of which are potentially unlimited in amount.

EmployAssist HR insurance is designed to protect your company balance sheet from the cost of taking legal advice and defending an employment claim. Our day-to-day HR advice is supported by a seamless insurance to cover specialist representation by solicitors and the cost of compensation awards made against you. Unlike other policies this one has integrity built-in, our own claims team will be on your side from the outset and you will not be at the mercy of a faceless insurer call-centre dedicated to make decisions that suit themselves.

Our flexible policy choices are designed to protect the business from a range of employment related issues such as redundancy and TUPE situations and uniquely include extensions of cover to protect individual managers who may be ‘joined’ in an action personally, the enforcement of restrictive covenants and the cost of specialist PR where adverse publicity is threatened against you.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers have a duty to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work for all of their employees.
EmployAssist HR understands that this can be daunting to many employers and that a breach of the Act can carry high fines, and in some circumstances, the closure of a business.

As an employer you have a legal duty to ensure that your employees have a right to work in the UK before you employ them, and to carry out document checks on people. Failure to comply with this legislation will leave you liable for paying heavy fines.

If these document checks are carried out effectively you will have a ‘statutory excuse' against payment of a fine if you can demonstrate the following:
- Correct checks on acceptable documents were carried out before a person starts working
- If a person has a time limit on their right to work, by repeating document checks at least once every 12 months
- That a potential employee who has a restriction on the type of work they can do and, or, the amount of hours they can work is not employed in breach of these work conditions

You will not have an excuse if you knowingly employ an illegal migrant worker, regardless of any document checks you carry out before or during a person’s employment.

Our Service
Through our Right to Work check we will carry out documents checks on your behalf and help you to avoid paying substantial fines. Our service provides:
- An easy to use submission process with results returned to you within 24 hours
- Easy access to the reporting portal via our online portal
- A comprehensive PDF report which details the checks undertaken and presents a copy of all document images providing you with a time and date stamped audit trail of the right to work check.

What is Workplace Mediation?
Allegations between staff and managers, grievances and personality clashes can have a significant impact on the productivity of your business. Such issues take up time dealing with disciplinary or legal disputes, as well adding stress and reducing morale on not only those involved but the whole of your workforce. Workplace mediation is a voluntary direct negotiation facilitated by a neutral, independent mediator who will help you clarify the issues and find your own workable solutions.

How Does Workplace Mediation Work?
Ideally at an early stage, such as when a grievance is raised, before disciplinary or legal proceedings have started, you would contact us and we would arrange a day when we would meet each of you separately and then together. Usually mediation takes place on one day, chosen to suit you, at our offices in Bishop’s Stortford or London. This will provide an opportunity quickly and early on to nip the difficulty in the bud.
