Mild Steel Fabrication MIG Welding General Fabrications
WHAT IS MIG WELDING?
MIG Welding is one of the most popular welding methods, especially in industrial environments. It is used extensively by the General Fabrication industry and many others, in fact pretty much anything fabricated in Mild Steel is welded in the MIG process. It is also popular for automated welding, in which robots handle the work pieces and the welding gun to speed up the manufacturing process. MIG Welding can be difficult to perform outdoors, since drafts can "blow away" the shielding gas and allow contaminants into the weld causing porosity.
Elder Sheet Metal Ltd over the years have invested heavily into quality equipment, training and certification. We can undertake a range of production welding tasks. 'Elder' have the ability to weld various thicknesses right up to multi run 20mm plate, flat and section

Stainless Steel Fabrication TIG Welding Food Processing Industry
WHAT IS TIG WELDING ?
TIG Welding is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area is protected from atmospheric contamination by Argon (shielding gas) A filler metal is used to create the weld.
A constant-current welding power supply produces electrical energy, which is conducted across the arc through a column of highly ionized gas and metal vapors known as a plasma.
TIG Welding is most commonly used to weld thin sections of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys. The process grants the operator greater control over the weld than competing processes such as GAS Welding, allowing for stronger, higher quality welds. However, TIG Welding is comparatively more complex and difficult to master, and furthermore, it is significantly slower than most other welding techniques. A related process, plasma arc welding, uses a slightly different welding torch to create a more focused welding arc and as a result is often automated
Elder Sheet Metal Ltd employ skilled TIG Welding Staff many of which are qualified to National CODING standards. We have several controlled TIG Welding bays ensuring cleanliness from atmospheric contamination throughout the welding process.
Elder Sheet Metal Ltd can undertake TIG Welding projects of any batch number, gauge or material. Food Grade, Pharmaceutical, Agricultural and ornamental fabrications are a specialty.

Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Fabricators Food Processing Industry
WHAT IS STAINLESS STEEL?
Stainless Steels resistance to corrosion and staining, low maintenance and familiar lustre make it an ideal material for many applications.
There are over 150 grades of stainless steel, of which fifteen are most commonly used. The alloy is milled into coils, sheets, plates, bars, wire, and tubing to be used in cookware, cutlery, household hardware, surgical instruments, major appliances, industrial equipment and as an automotive and aerospace structural alloy and construction material in large buildings.
Storage tanks and tankers used to transport food stuffs are often made of stainless steel, because of its corrosion resistance. This also influences its use in commercial kitchens and food processing plants, as it can be steam-cleaned and sterilized and does not need paint or other surface finishes

Aluminium Fabricators TIG Welding London UK
WHAT IS ALUMINIUM?
Aluminium is the most widely used non-ferrous metal. Global production of aluminium in 2015 was 50.9 million tonnes. It exceeded that of any other metal except iron (837.5 million tonnes)
Aluminium is almost always alloyed, which markedly improves its mechanical properties, especially when tempered. The main alloying agents are copper, zinc, magnesium, manganese, and silicon. Aluminium is the chosen material for many specialist sectors due to its very high resistance to corrosion, and light weight properties
The following examples are typically fabricated in Aluminium
- Construction - Windows, Doors, roof panels & trimming
- Food Industry - Processing equipment, catering equipment, container / storage
- Automotive - Many forms of transport include high levels of Aluminium parts
