I had hair removal lasering done at Elan with the best lasering machine on the market, does not hurt like other machines and I am very pleased to say that my therapist Amy put me at ease from day one of my treatment. I attended the Elan Medical Skin Clinic and was expecting a professional assessment and treatment of my skin.
Despite my reservations about the validity of the "before" and "after" treatment pictures I was shown (it appeared that your eyes change shade too! ), I believed that there must be something in all of the positive reviews I had read, and so chose to go ahead with The DermaActive Treatment Programme.
The cost of the programme was £450, and the initial consultation £95, so this felt like a high price to pay for two 80ml dispensers and a 100g tube of prescription skin creams, a 120ml dispenser of face wash, a small tube of sun block and skin balm. But I was hopeful that the programme would be as successful as Sue effused it could be.
The programme was for 12 weeks, and Sue gave me detailed instructions of how to use the creams. This I followed to the letter.
So I was a little shocked to find that I had run out of the cleanser after 6 weeks of washing my face night and morning, and using "one depression" of the pump, as prescribed.
On contacting Sue, I was told that I would have to purchase another bottle of the product, as this was a non-prescription product. After a rather heated exchange of emails in which I told Sue that at no point in my original consultation had it been mentioned that I may need to replace products, that I believed it had been sold as a 12-week programme, and so the products should be in sufficient supply to last the course, Sue agreed to replace the cleanser as a "measure of goodwill".
Two weeks later, halfway through week 9, I ran out of the cream I had been instructed to use night and morning, and could see that the tube of cream required nightly, was too depleted to last the 12 weeks.
When I contacted the centre, Sue informed me that I would not only have to pay the £125 and £75 cost of the replacement creams, but that I would also have to book another consultation to receive the prescribed products - presumably at a further cost of £95.
So, nearly 9 weeks in I am cutting my losses and abandoning the treatment. The results so far do not warrant further investment of £200 for replacement creams and £95 for a further consultation. I am left feeling that I have been sold something using misleading claims and a misrepresentation of what I was buying. This is not a 12-week programme unless you chose to keep on paying. Be warned. A follow up appointment, Sue was attentive and reassuring as on previous occasions. I travel a fair distance because I think it's worth going to someone with her expertise and knowledge.

Working half of the year abroad I am very prone to sun damage and potentially worse. Sue has the skill to quickly identify and eradicate new or changed skin areas and advise accordingly. I have been using DermaActive shampoo for about three months now and my scalp is no longer itchy. Even more surprising is that I don’t have to use conditioner after every wash either. Previously, I would try a new shampoo and my scalp would be ok for a few weeks. I’d think, ‘yes, I’ve finally found the shampoo for me’ but then the itching would start and I would have to stop using that product. I have a collection of half used shampoos in my bathroom!The DermaActive shampoo and body wash costs £29.50 but it’s well worth the extra – and I’m saving money with not having to buy conditioner so often. I used to think that unless my hair squeaked when I rinsed the shampoo away then it wasn’t clean. I now know that this squeaking is caused by the chemicals added to shampoo and it’s these chemicals that make my scalp itchy and uncomfortable. I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who suffers from a dry and itchy scalp. What a great product – now I really have found the shampoo for me! More...

My mum and I love Sue and her team :) great service, completely tailored to your need, and you feel cared about. We've had various treatments between the two of us, but personally I've had laser hair removal using the soprano ice, and consultations for problematic skin. Results on my skin have been absolutely excellent and will continue to use them in future. Still going through the laser, but it's completely pain free with the soprano and easy to forget why you are sat there :) More...
