This is my second time coming to Edukos Beer House and it will not be my last. I love the environment the service . But my favorite thing here is the selection of beer and their food. This is the best arepas and empanadas i have ever tried in my life. Im not even kidding. This time i ordered the poke arepa and it was so crispy and the taste of the onion along with their hit of spicy sauce omg to die for , we also ordered the empanada gringo i mean i had to order another one of how good it was. For beer i got a wild sour cranberry criek and it taste super good not the bitter taste of beer it self. We wanted to order the pabellon empanada but they ran out but this empanada was amazing last time we tried it . Their food is phenomenal . More...

This is a great "hidden gem" in Little Havana. It's actually not that hidden since it's located in a very visible corner lot. This is more of an "underrated gem" that perhaps many people haven't had the pleasure to try.Located in the corner of West Flagler Street and 17th ave, just a few blocks away from the Marlins Stadium in the Historic Pequeña Havana.Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, John. Yes, sounds like a gringo name but he was born in the states with Venezuelan descent. Hence his mixture of Venezuelan/American inspired menu. You can enjoy from empanadas and arepas to dumplings and fish tacos and the Bao buns are delicious! I personally enjoyed the tequeños and you have got to try their famous Biggie Empanadas! 10 inch of pure bliss filled with traditional beef or chicken but I personally like the Gringo filled with buffalo chicken, plantains and cheese!!! That and the Poke Arepa you wont find it anywhere else!! I can promise you that! Or if you are a meatless type of person, Edukos offer vegan options such as veggie burgers and fish tacos!Enjoy all of that and much more with a wide variety of local draft beers from Biscayne Bay to Wynwood breweries...(small disclaimer, "always buy and support local"). They recently opened a beer shop downstairs if you want to take some to go.If you happen to be in Miami and would like to explore Little Havana and try some delicious food, whether for lunch or dinner or even for Saturday brunch, Edukos is your go to spot! Hip Venezuelan fusion in Little Havana. At first glance, I was instantly charmed by the restaurant's facade. Amidst a very nondescript commercial area, the neon, lemon-yellow sign EDUKOS acts like a beacon atop this quaint terra-cotta-tiled corner shop. The inside is just as architecturally interesting being split between two levels and open air to the relatively busy road outside (and mosquitos!).I had the La Caribena Arepas (grilled heart of palm, avocado, sweet plantains, sweet and sour raisin sauce, and aioli) which happened to be vegan. For $11, the meal came with two STUFFED arepas that were deliciously flavorful. The menu has quite a few vegan options, so I would definitely recommend this place for vegans but also adventurous eaters in general! The happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays is generous, from 5-11pm, with $4 beers and $6 mixed drinks. We came at 7pm on a Saturday night and were surprised to be the only table for a long time. All in all, I think this place is a very cool concept and well-executed, but with the busy road outside and not much foot-traffic, just maybe not in the ideal location. More...

A few months ago we drove by this really cute spot and then later saw them featured on Yelp's Instagram stories and it reminded me I still had to go there! I went on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday with close friends. I made reservations a few days early, anticipating it was going to be full. When we arrived, we were surprised that it was empty, which is a shame because this restaurant deserves all the hype and I really hope more people discover it. Apparently the city had road construction in front of the store for a long time which impacted their business. Anyway, about the food... the chef has an admirable imagination with all his delicious creations. We ordered the plantain hummus with mushroom grape leaves which was so amazing that I am still craving them. We also ordered the vegetarian bao buns that had fried plantains, avocado, and black beans. Still also dreaming about those. You know the food deserves five stars when you're still thinking about it days later! My husband had the bao buns stuffed with crispy pork tongue. He liked it but it's a bit too exotic / adventurous to pique my interest. I recently heard about this establishment through my best friend. She she kept telling me about a cute spot near my house that she's been dying to try. She finally made reservations for this past Friday night to celebrate her birthday. We noticed that their parking is next door in a gated fence area.Their parking lot seems to be shared with some other establishments in the area. When we walked in it was odd to see it so empty given the amazing reviews this place has. It's nice that the menu has a little bit of everything for the vegan and meat lovers. That's a nice twist given the fact that not many latin dishes are vegan friendly. The vegan options is what sold my bestie to come try this place.Let's get to the good stuff...  THE FOOD. I must say that the menu is very creative in how things are paired. We started by ordering the tequeños along with the plantain hummus & grape leaves which were very delicious! My bestie ordered the bao buns that had fried plantains, avocado, and black beans. (she gave a piece to try and it was go delicious!) Her husband had the tongue strami and the empanada gringo. Why 5 stars? Because the culinary creativity is unparalleled.   ---   ---   ---Earlier in the day that I visited, I ate about as much food as I could fit inside my body. Several hours later, I sadly was still not even remotely hungry, but we had plans to visit EDUKOS, so I didn't want to be a party pooper and sit this one out. However, I did not eat more than a bite or two of each dish that came out. Well, I did eat a bit more than that for one thing....Plantain Hummus & Grape Leaves - I'm going to tell you right now, if you are reading this and trying to decide on what to order... do not hesitate with this. I don't recall ever tasting a dish with more of an explosion of flavor than this one. The chef combined so many things into this dish that I truly felt like he invented a completely new taste with this. I can't even describe it for you. The pomegranate seeds and panela probably take the cake in terms of making this dish taste so unique. All I know is that if you are capable of creating that, you need to be competing on a national level. Wow!We also tried: Octopus & Arepa, Poke Arepas and a few other dishes. Five stars for EDUKOS for creating a restaurant that encourages folks to discover more, together.EDUKOS is located in Little Havana, and has paved the way for some pretty sweet improvements in the area's culinary scene. Their food evokes comfort since it's founded in the traditional latin flavors someone born and raised in Miami grew up loving, but also inspires as the dishes have some crazy new twists on classics.I've had the pleasure of trying some of their items at events around town, and last week finally stopped in for dinner. The restaurant is cozy, and you can see the chef cooking up a storm in the open kitchen. It feels homey, so naturally the first thing we went for is a drink to start the meal. They offered us a home-brewed beer and I ordered the sangria. I usually stray from ordering sangria out, but this one is made with sparkling rosé - how could a girl refuse?I would say this menu is made to share, so I was so happy to be dining with Blue A and Brett N who are notoriously good at ordering all the things.WE ORDERED:+Smoked Plantain Hummus: this is not your yaiyai's (greek for abuela) hummus. This comes with mushroom sofrito stuffed grape leaves, and is covered with pomegranate seeds. Like wtf. but also WOW. +Octopus Arepa: this is a decunstructed arepa that comes with black bean and squid ink spread and of course, grilled octopus. I am a sucker for pulpo, and this was awesome. I also loooooved the arepa. I could eat endless amounts of that pillowy, savory goodness.+ Gringo Empanda: ordered in honor of Brett N, this was so yummy. Its a traditional empanada dough but with buffalo chicken inside. YUMMM!+Poke Arepa: I would never have thought to put poke in an arepa, but it totally works. I love the refreshing taste of the soy sauce, cilantro, and siracha aoili nestled inside an arepa.+Malanga Rissoto: wow. I love malanga, and have never seen it prepared this way. It was riced, and made to taste like a wonderful, hearty, mushroom risotto.I would say my favorite thing about Edukos is it makes you feel right at home, and surprises you with every bite. You can tell how excited the team is here to create dishes people can share - and based on the flavor combos you can also tell they have a lot of fun in the kitchen. I will most definitely be back!PS there is ample parking that is also free (win) in the garage attached to the building. And yes, the bathrooms are down the street - but I love that EDUKOS is keeping the neighborhood how it always was, while adding a little of their own flavor to the block. More...

I can't believe no one has addressed the elephant in the room. The bathroom situation! The bathrooms are not in the building! You must walk down the street to wash your hands or use the toilet. "Are you serious?" we asked, and Kelsey replied with "Yup." I was perplexed. At that point, I didn't know if to stay or leave. If a restaurant serves food and alcohol, and the owner as much as the customers want the drinks to keep flowing, the customers are bound to break the seal and use the restroom frequently. Not having a bathroom on the premises is a huge inconvenience. For this reason, I refrained from ordering any drinks. I just don't get it; therefore, Edukos does not get the five stars they truly deserve. We came here last Thursday night for dinner all the way from BFE West Kendall. The restaurant was empty, but that didn't matter because we were there to try their yummy vegan food we've been reading about and craving. INCREDIBLE! I have heard rave reviews about Edukos for a while now but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I was tasked with choosing a restaurant to take my family and an out of town friends after we had gone to an Art Basel event. I landed on Edukos for lunch and couldn't have been happier with our experience. The restaurant was pretty empty for their Friday lunch which was no matter to us since we got to choose a comfortable table. I liked the way that their menu was set up with a legend showing not only vegan/vegetarian options but also sharing plates. We ate tapas style and double ordered only sharing items which worked really well for everyone. The first thing we ate was the Polenta Fries $5---hands down, best polenta fries I've ever had. They were heavily seasoned but delicious and rich in flavor; plus the dipping sauce was the perfect pairing. Next we had their Avo Chicken Salad Arepas $10 which was a twist on the traditional Reina Pepiada since it used cheddar cheese and celery pieces. My boyfriend is Venezuelan and he couldn't help but rave how delicious this version is! The next item we had was my favorite: the Tongue-strami Arepas. I had never had pork tongue but this was incredible and the flavor of the whole thing reminded me of a NY styled Jewish sandwich (hard to describe). Lastly, we had the Poke Arepa which incorporates Shrimp Tempura and was also a refreshing taste of something so unique I have not tried anything like it anywhere else. Edukos is just what we need in a sea of Latin restaurants. Their menu is more than vegan friendly, but still caters to the carnivores. Outside of Edukos you will find you're in a classic Miami neighborhood. Inside it will feel as if you've stepped through a warp hole and landed in a different city. The ambiance is rustic and the layout of the restaurant makes it feel more intimate. The menu is refreshingly creative making classic Latin dishes with a vegan twist. For starters I had the Garden tacos. They might be my favorite dish of the night. The tacos are filled with kale, but more noticeably they are filled with flavor. I would recommend this dish to everyone trying out Edukos. The white sangria pairs perfectly with the tacos. For my main course I had the Malanga Risotto and my bf had the ricotta and mushroom ravioli. Both dishes were exceptional. On the menu you will find interesting fusions of flavors, and you can be conservative or try the more unique dishes. They also offer craft beer, which is always a plus, and delicious sangria. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because service was a bit slow... we went on a Saturday night and it was not very busy, but our meal from beginning to end took almost two hours and a couple of times we found ourselves looking to get our server's attention to get the ball rolling on something.
