We stayed in the Mansion House. It looks lovely and very impressive from the outside, but our room only seemed half renovated. Due to the old building shape it wasnt very cozy, and while attempts had been made to modernize the room, it wasnt quite there yet. For example, lovely comfortable bed and inviting wallpaper, but old carpet, single-glazed window and basic other furniture. Some functionalities (such as coat hangers and plug sockets on either side of the bed) were missing, other elements (such as tea and coffee selection) were well thought through. Breakfast buffet as expected, cooked breakfast not amazing, but good selection of food! More...

Very quiet spot near Arthur’s seat on the university of Edinburgh campus. If you are looking for nightlife stay near the royal mile. For me the quiet was appreciated and it was a half hour walk to the castle or palace. The selling point for us was the parking being included. The breakfast was also very nice with French press coffee. The only thing I could criticize was the picture on the website looks like a castle and this was a nondescript modern building. So it may be fair for the website to show both buildings. Just a heads up the gps initially took us to a locked gate. The entrance is really off Holyrood. More...

Really loved our clean modern room. Though the outside of the modern building isn’t exactly example of a nice modern architecture, don’t judge a book by its cover. It was nicely decorated in a modern style with photos of iconic Edinburgh scenes. The room was comfortable warm, the bed was a great size, clean & comfortable. The room was well insulated from noise, so we weren’t disturbed. The bathroom was modern again with great sized shower & toilet.|Excellent WiFi as well as very nice friendly hospitable staff.|Though not in the very centre of Edinburgh, it was only less than half an hour walk which we did in the pouring rain.|Highly recommended & would stay here again.|Thank you More...

Staff were great as we were upgraded upon arrival due to an issue over our room type. The superior room was large, lovely decor and clean. Downside to this hotel is it is a 25 min walk to the Old Town and main attractions. It is also located within the university campus and the reception and restaurant appeared to have been former campus buildings. This is the very best located hotel to Arthurs Seat and that's why we picked it to stay. But there are other bonuses - it is a restored historic house with very good heating and a great bistro. There is also a small parking area free to guests, so that takes care of excessive city parking charges. Just leave the car there and walk up Arthurs Seat and / or walk to the Royal Mile and all its attractions.
