I started training with Mike during the beginning stages of a weight loss journey - both with kickboxing and personal training. He was actually the first to tell me that the quality of training (meaning, the amount of effort put in) is more important than how many minutes I'm spending at the gym. I was spending literally 2 - 3 hours at the gym each day, coasting through group classes and not making any progress towards my goals...he kicked me out of that mentality!Mike knows what he's talking about, and has the credentials and experience to back it up. He does a great job of explaining his training plan along with the importance of nutrition in fitness - you're always learning with him. Each workout session is custom-tailored, and he takes into consideration any injuries, or short term goals you may have at that time. Each session is fun (actually fun!) and slightly different from the last; they're never routine.Mike is super personable, and is a very motivating fitness mentor. He's great at pushing you just beyond your comfort level in order to make you better than you were, while still knowing your true limits. His enthusiasm for fitness is contagious! More...

I have been training with Mike Mills off and on for almost ten years now. When I stick to Mike's plan, I see results. Mike is at once a cheerleader, a coach and a motivator. I never intended to become friends with my trainer but that is what Mike and I have become. He is a good soul. I have had the privilege of training with four different trainers in the past 15 years. Mike is by far the most qualified. He is really a physiology wonk, which is exactly what you want in a trainer. He takes pride and shows great enthusiasm for his work. More...

I've been going to Mike for about 4 years now. I had one trainer previous to him and I did not learn half the stuff that I've learned from Mike. He's gone above and beyond to help me achieve my fitness goals. He's helped me with my nutrition, gave me a plan and we over every detail with me so I understood. I'm definitely happy with the results I've got and continue to get. I'm a very self conscious person and Mike makes me feel so comfortable. He gives me the confidence and motivation to keep pushing no matter what. I highly recommend Mike if you want to change for the better and see a healthy and fit you. Thank you Mike More...

Michael Mills... hmmm how should I count the ways...I was referred to Mike by a friend (and competitive athlete) whose opinion I highly regard. I have been trying to get to single digit body fat % for almost two years. I started at about 24%. My friend suggested that I talk to Mike. To say that I am grateful would be an understatement. I have been working with Mike for 3-4 months. He is truly brilliant. He understands things about the human body and fitness that is beyond my comprehension. However, he can also explain things in a way that I can understand. I respect him. Before Mike, I lifted heavy.. to lift heavy. He has completely changed the way I train. I can honestly say that I haven't ever worked out so efficiently and HARD in my life. He comes prepared every single time he trains you. My workouts are tailored for me! There is not anything generic about them. I am experiencing gains week after week. He tracks each exercise, weight and reps achieved. the progress is documented. I haven't hit a plateau nor felt bored once. He pushes me, and I have learned to trust him very much. I could truly go on and on, but he might read this :). Mike leads by example. I consider him a blessing and a friend. In short1. Incredible workouts2. Progression!!! noticeable progression3. He is a master of his craft.4. He is a professional. He is kind, patience, motivating, and stern.5. He is a true Coach. He figured me out and helps me when I get in my own way. More...

"My teenager daughter & I began kickboxing training in June 2015 & when she went back to college in August I continued on. Great workouts, I am never bored, he always answers my questions as to why I doing some specific exercise. He continually pushes me to the next level, yet is encouraging when I struggle to master something. Can't believe how great I feel after every workout!!" More...

I have been working with Michael for the last eight months. We initially met through Innovate Pasadena, a professional networking organization that he co-organizes. Prior to working with Michael, I had been doing pilates and dancing daily as well as watching my diet with a nutritionist for 4-5 months and wasn't seeing any changes in my body. Within the first month of working with Michael I gained muscle and lost body fat! Below are some major points that I would like to touch on:*His workouts are short and powerful, meant to maximize your workout in a short period of time. This strategy wonderful for a busy professional!*Even though you are working harder than you have ever worked - his ability to motivate and great personality keep your workouts fun and engaging.*Working out with Michael has definitely made me stronger. That powerful feeling keeps me motivated throughout the day.*He provides simple to follow nutrition hacking strategies that help maximize results, outlined in the "Holistic Fitness Theory" document.I highly recommend Michael as a trainer. His energy and high-intensity training style will help you reshape your body and build strength. More...

I consider Michael not only my personal trainer but my friend as well. He has a very compassionate heart and is a very attentive listener. I came to him through one of those deals and sat down for a consultation. I have had trainers before so the experience of meeting one at that time was not new. However, after meeting Michael for the first time he made me feel very comfortable in talking about my goals, not only physical but personal as well. He was genuinely interested in helping me achieve my goals, and has shown that consistency for the past 6 months I have been training with him. Saying something is one thing, but acting upon it is another. You can definitely count on his words. If you can be honest with yourself and him, you will have the optimal partnership in getting where you need to be. He will push you harder than you think you can handle. He has definitely made me believe in myself more because of some of the exercises, or even weights I have had to lift. I really appreciate that he is sensitive to any pain that I may experience ( I have a history of carpal tunnel). He constantly checks up on me throughout the exercises and if something is not working for me, he is quick to provide a variation that is just as intense and effective. I love training with him! He makes it intense, fun, and definitely rewarding in the end. More...

I've been training with Mike on and off for the past 5-6 years and currently working with him 2-3 days a week to improve my overall fitness. I'm an avid cyclist and recently started studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. What sets Mike apart from other trainers is his creativity with the workouts and his ability to tailor the workouts to sport specific routines. He explains the movement in ways that relate to the other sports I do so I can get a better sense of how to properly do the exercises. He is always up on the latest science regarding exercise and nutrition and you definitely feel like you're in good hands with him. More...

I have been training with Mike for some months now, and I can tell you that it is one of the most intense challenges I've undertaken. I did sports in high school and was always in pretty good shape, but college hit and I gained quite a bit of weight. I signed up for a free consultation with Mike because of his yelps reviews, but I realized there was no other person I wanted to work with pretty early on from my EXPERIENCE at that consultation. I've heard stories of free consultations being very shallow, and somewhat "get it over with"ish, but when I met with Mike, he took a vested interest in me from the very beginning. He is a very easy person to get to know, and very laid back and fun. I agree with some of the other posters when they said that after training with him for even a short amount of time, Mike has gone from not only being my trainer, but being a truly awesome friend. He is not afraid to be honest with you, and he is not afraid of a challenge. My wife and I have had some interesting reactions to certain things hes attempted for us, so he goes back to the drawing board and finds something else to experiment with. He is not going to give you a "one size fits all" answer. He will take a look at what you need versus what you have, and he will try what he thinks is best. If that doesn't work, or doesn't seem very sustainable, he will take whatever time is necessary to help you find what IS.his workouts are super intense and very fun. he is really good at discerning the type of encouragement you need (does he need to be the carrot or the stick?), and is adaptable with his workouts. There have been plenty of times where I've gone into a session with him and told him that my shoulder was hurting, so he determined what specifically was being affected and tailored an on-the-spot workout that was gentle in regards to the trouble area while still allowing me to work out at my hardest. In short, working with mike has been an amazing experience, and I never would've thought id have the discipline to stick to anything for as long as i have (especially given the amount of discomfort I'm in after some of them!) but it has been completely worth it! I feel great and have noticed so many intrinsic gains alongside the extrinsic that i never thought about. Give him a shot, and you will NOT be disappointed. More...
