We chose to use Econoloft after watching their videos on YouTube. .We contacted them for a quote which was very reasonable compared to the other companies who had quoted us . The process from order to build was made very easy by the staff . They were in contact with us throughout the process and were very friendly and helpful . I was quite worried about the mess the loft build would cause in the house but our builders were very good and kept this down to a minimum .We had a large double bedroom with En-Suite bathroom . Econoloft arranged every tradesman to complete the job and all were very professional with a high standard of workmanship and importantly for us, were very tidy workers . We used Econoloft to do our loft conversion last year. Of all the companies we approached they were by far the best in terms of value for money. Our builder, Slawak, was excellent. His labourer left after a few weeks so he had to finish the whole job on his own which meant it took longer than expected but every aspect of the work (apart from plumbing and electrics) was completed by him so a very good job. It's nearly a year since completion and we are still really happy with our loft conversion. It's made such a difference to our house and family. It stayed very warm up there during the winter and cool through the summer heat. Absolutely no complaints from our experience. They gave us good down to earth advice with our initial plans, the price was competitive, all the trades were professional and very helpful and the project was finished on budget and pretty much on time! Econoloft converted my loft into excellent ensuite bedroom/living space. I have done extensive searches through local companies and compared them and finally decided go with Econoloft thanks to Andy Frampton's responsiveness and explanations during the pricing in summer 2022. Although I was quite upset with the price increased in the last minute but then I was assured with the head office that it was locked for during the project and that is exactly what happened. Project started in September and finished end of November within the timeframe they were given to us and the teams were excellent, even the director/owner Robert get involved and sorted couple of issues smoothly for us. Kitmir and Jurgen was the joiners and they have done most the job from building the dormer, fixing the roof, stairs and floors to windows including doors and they were very good, patient and very responsive and communicated with us all the time which reduced the stress a lot. Santri nicely sorted out our electrics and Tony did the plastering. Duane and his kids did a great job in the bathroom and plumbing. I was impressed with all the guys and their work ethic. Finally I would also want to thank to the office Caroline and Evie and Kate they had to deal with my emails and explained the process to me with patience and arranged the teams come in on time and finish the job without any hassle. Econoloft were fantastic! The company who came to see us first said that our loft would be very hard to do a conversion in, due to the hight of the roof, they said we would have to have a whole new roof fitted costing over 100k for the roof alone. Then Econoloft came along and it was no hassle at all, they just raised the height of our current roof and now we have a lovely new loft with two double bedrooms and a shower room in the roof space. Initially I was very happy with the work and recommended Econoloft to a few friends, unfortunately , their experience wasn't great and it seems to depend on the fitters that do the work. Another thing that has been a huge disappointment was the after service for repairs. I have tried repeatedly to have facias and soffits fixed and a door rehung, due to poor work workmanship, but I can't get any response from Econoloft. So, in summary: - The price will probably be very competitive - The workmanship with vary with the team doing the work - Best of luck if you want to get any repairs done under the guarantee. All went swimmingly, but slowed towards the end... and now trades and office don't reply to snagging requests and now found damp ingress where insulation not fitted so created a cold spot for condensation. Not happy. Second time using and can no longer recommend. Still awaiting refund on an item. Still can't finish painting or get loft carpeted. We asked Econoloft to build a bedroom and ensuite for us in our loft space. Not only were they very competitive commercially but the team went above and beyond when they were on site. By far and away the best head joiner was Sotir. Him and his team completed the build in super quick time - just 8 weeks from start to finish. Sotir was incredibly professional and was able to suggest alternatives as we went along, and provide guidance on our ideas based on what he’d seen before. I cannot recommend him enough - to the extent I would suggest requesting him if I were to use Econoloft. Econoloft themselves required a bit of management on the admin side, however I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do a loft conversion. We had our loft conversion done by econoloft. They started in January 22 and completed by April. Our joiners were Greg and Arek. I was a bit worried when the work started and I only saw 2 boys, thinking it will be team of people but these 2 boys can do more than a team, they are absolutely amazing.They came on time before 8am every morning and work throughout the day. They were professional and tidy. Kept me updated daily with the progress. When the stairs came down there was literally not evidence this even happened that's how clean they left the house on end of the day. This was especially important as I have a toddler and my youngest was only 3 months old at the start of the build. I was very nervous before the start as were my neighbours due to the negative reviews but we were quickly put at ease when Greg and Arek started. Girls in the office were also very helpful with any questions we had and organising plumbers, plasterers, electrician etc. Especially Caroline and Evie. We had a dorma loft conversion completed by Econoloft. Overall the workmanship and communication was a 4 out of 5 star experience. I would recommend. This was our first experience in terms of home extensions and it was overall a bit of a stress but that I understand is the nature of the beast, especially in testing times (Covid, Brexit, Supply chain hold ups, rising material costs etc etc) We were recommended Econoloft through a friends parents, who had their loft conversion done. We engaged another firm to get a quote and we decided to go with Econoloft mainly because the sales man (Ed) was funny, engaging and came across as honest and knowledgeable. The planning process and drawing design took a while but was relatively pain free, and we managed to secure a start date earlier than expected just after Christmas 21. There was a slight issue in terms of pricing though....... which in hindsight was reasonably well handled by the owner of the firm. We had been quoted material costs almost six month prior to our star date and due to market conditions the price of wood, steal, transport, etc etc had risen so Econoloft called us to let us know our overall quote would rise by £5k - never nice news but I believe a fair and honest indication of where material costs where at that stage in the UK. The delivery of goods was fine and our joiner (Ergus/Gus) was totally brilliant. Easily the best tradesman we got to work with. He built the shell in super quick time, while keeping us informed and being respectful and tidy around the property. He worked alone as well which was remarkable as he finished his part very rapidly. Up to this point we were delighted with progress and it was only really when the other trades became involved that the process slowed down, first fix plumbing/electrics went fine, but the wait times in between were slow. It took a lot of organising between myself the Econolift office and the tradesperson to agree dates for work to be carried out. Ultimately because of a busy period after Covid I would imagine. The plasterer was great and work tirelessly for us, and did a fab job. The bathroom install was a bit of a faf as I had previously ok'd all the products we were going to provide to the plumber only to find out the shower tray would not fit as there was a steal running directly below the waste plug area.... frustrating and expensive as that was part of a complete pack of shower parts so could not return and had to find an alternative shower tray - holding up build time - not the end of the world I guess. It was also a further frustration that the Econoloft tiler we were directed to didn't fancy traveling to our job - so we were forced to find our own local tiler (who was great, thankfully) Eventually everything was finally completed a few weeks ago now, we had noticed damage to our first floor ceilings in a few rooms, Econoloft provided a painter decorator to repair these (without charge) - so we are all done now. We were quoted 8-10 weeks but the overall completion took 16 weeks - It is a frustrating process at the best of times and the last few years have made it an even more disrupted - I am completely happy with the overall outcome, we have an awesome loft that has been built to a great standard. Yes, communication from the office could have been quicker at times and it would have been nice to have trades more readily available than we experienced, but these are things that overtime will subside, overall when I weigh up cost/time/disruption/finished product I would 100% recommend Econoloft. Of the five companies we contacted to take on the project, Econoloft proved to be the most professional during the initial stages from the first appointment, drawing up the plans, planning application, and ensuring everything was in place to start on the appointed day. The project was the conversion of a double hip gable roof which entailed the construction of a complete new roof. The construction, lead by head joiner Sotir and his team, was completed in an impressive eight weeks and the quality of the workmanship from each trade, plasterer, plumber and electrician was first class. Always happy to go that extra mile Sotir ensured the smooth running of the construction with minimal inconvenience. A job of this size will always present unforeseen potential problems but Sotir was always able to suggest solutions drawing on his considerable experience. Absolutely shambolic customer service and workmanship. The RSJ has been put in the wrong place so one of the doors from the 4 rooms is out of place and doesnt match because it had to be alot smaller than the other 3 doors. The work was supposed to be completed in 8 weeks. It took 20+ weeks. Another team had be called in to pull up the floorboards in the two bedrooms and reset them so they were actually lying flat. The Juliette balcony and the work around it had to be redone. A few weeks into the work, on a day when their joiner - Jason, couldn't be bothered to turn up, we had rainwater coming through into my rear bedroom below. After calling Jason and texting him, I got a reply from him saying don't worry, it's nothing. The ceiling in both rear bedrooms below were damaged from this leak. The ceilings in my rear two bedrooms below were damaged to the extent that They need re-plastering and econoloft have yet to make good on the damage, two years on! They sent a plasterer round to get an estimate of the damage, after promising several times that they would sort it out. When they were given the cost to re-plaster the ceilings, they decided that I should sort it out myself with Jason. Within 2 weeks of the loft conversion being completed, the ceilings started getting little blowouts. I took photos and emailed them, asking them to sort it out. I eventually received a reply, telling me that it's just a minor thing and that I should sort it out myself! They don't even deserve 1 star but Google reviews don't give you an option of awarding zero stars... Don't use them! 5 years on and I still haven't had any of the issues resolved by econoloft. We contacted Econoloft in January 2020 and were pleased to meet Danny who explained what they could do to convert our large loft space to provide two bedrooms. No pressure which we liked and time to consider. Accepted and soon Lee the surveyor called, made good suggestions and again no pressure. Econoloft provide all the materials paid for in lump sum, customer is responsible for planning application, building inspector (who they appoint) and all ancillary costs. Econoloft appoint sub contractors who are paid weekly by the customer after approval from head office. We did like the fact that there is no pressure selling and Caroline at Head office and Gillian0at West Wickham office were very helpful. The work started in August 2020 and final snagging sorted nearly a year after. There is still some work to do as "settlement" has damaged some of the decoration but this is down to us we are told. Covid did cause disruption to supplies and our team were working on three other jobs as well so all did not go quite as smoothly as hoped. The worst incidents were the poor temporary waterproofing around the new dormer which meant we had a couple of weekends where rain water literally cascaded down the stairs soaking the wallpaper and carpets etc and entering the meter cupboard. There was further water ingress later around the newly installed Velux windows and dormer that meant that we faced an extra cost of £5,000. 00 to remedy. There had been no ingress problems before but the roofer explained that cutting the felt and disturbing the tiles meant there was no alternative than to replace the roof, a huge expense we certainly had not expected. The teams worked well when with us and Keiran and Aaron were good joiners. Rocky the plasterer and his team were excellent, John the plumber very good and Wesley the electrician very helpful and good. People who stand out were Pete Bassett who is a great representative for the company, sorting out some of the problems- and sadly there were quite a few. The building inspector was pretty useless and had to be chased many times, we eventually got his report more than six months after completion. When we contacted the director regarding all the damage at the time of the water ingress she said "Not to worry we will will recompense you for any damage." The decoration to the stairs, hall way, and areas damaged by the water cost over £2k to put right and her "promised recompense" was a derisory £250 towards it with her comment which was more of less "take it or leave it" so we are not impressed with the director i am afraid. There were other issues as well, some very stressful but now at last we do have two very nice bedrooms which our grandchildren love. Would we recommend Econoloft? I think we would but you do need to be very aware of how they operate. More...

We are extremely happy with our Econoloft loft conversion. After doing some research and asking for recommendations, I requested a specific joiner, and that was no problem at all. The admin side of the process was very good and we paid step by step in instalments. The final product is of exceptional quality. The new stair case is beautifully done and the ceiling is high which was something I specifically requested. The joinery and finish is exceptional. I was worried as my sister had recently been swindled by her builder. I’m so glad that we chose Econoloft. We found the price to be very competitive and liked the fact that we were able to paint the room ourselves, saving money. Our builder was an excellent project manager and lined up all the relevant people for different parts of the job in a timely manner. I was consulted over design at every step of the process and got exactly what I wanted down to one large velux window instead of two small ones and black out blind fitted. We chose Econoloft after watching their YouTube video and reading reviews . We were really impressed by the way they supply their own tradesmen from start to finish meaning we didn`t have the hassle of arranging different trades ourselves. We started our loft in June 2020 as soon as the full lock-down was eased . All the contractors they used and the lead Carpenter were really good and done a great job . Things did take slightly longer because of the Covid situation ( but that was to be expected ) however we was always kept up-to-date with any delays by our lead Carpenter and the girls at the office . We`re quite fussy about finish but everything in our loft was finished to our standard and Econoloft even replaced our Juliet Balcony with a better part at no extra cost because it would have looked much better . The cost come in slightly higher than we budgeted for but we did finish it to a very high spec and we are really delighted with the finish , it was money well spent 🥰Thank you Econoloft . More...

I had a far from satisfactory experience with Econoloft (or Eco-NO-loft as I now call them) After spending £3000 with them as a deposit, all I got for that were basic architectural drawings, some paperwork for a planning application, and a one hour site survey. I have no new loft because I fired them before the work even started, and nine months were completely wasted.

I have supplied a detailed account below. I understand however that most can't be bothered to read long reviews, so here is a brief summary for those people:

I found them incompetent administratively, unreliable, unprofessional, untrustworthy and I did not feel in the least bit valued as a client. It became clear as time went on that there is just something 'dodgy' about them. Make sure you do your due diligence thoroughly if you are thinking of using them.

Now for the detail:
I was referred by a friend who went with them because they were the cheapest. He had a builder called Edbin do the work, who he said did a good job. So I made it clear to Eco-NO-loft that I wanted Edbin to do the job.

Econoloft do not have their own builders. They tout your job to a tradesman for a negotiated price. They do not volunteer this information and I only found out much later in the process.

The basic architectural drawings were incorrect 3 times and caused a month of delayed time whilst they were sent back and forth.
Once I signed off the drawings (which still were not 100% accurate but I was fed up with telling them by now) I expected the planning application to be made. After 6 or 7 weeks of checking the public planning portal on the council website, there was still no sign of my project, so I called the council to find out why.

They told me that they had received the application from Econoloft but they had sent the wrong certificate with the application. The council had made Econoloft aware of this and had requested the correct paperwork straight away. The requests went unanswered for 6 weeks. Econoloft denied any responsibility.

Eventually the planning was approved and a start date for the work was agreed, and I was told Edbin was on board to do the job. After this, contact from the company became very poor. As the start date approached there was no final contract/specification as promised. My requests for information were being ignored or fobbed off. I started to smell a rat and called Edbin myself.

He told me he had been offered the job by Econoloft but had turned it down because he was not happy with the money he was being offered. It was also him that told me Econoloft do not have their own team of tradesmen.

I was also promised by the sales rep, Paul Tibbert that he would speak to our neighbours on our behalf regarding the party wall agreement as our relationship with them was not great. He never did speak to them or return any of my calls or messages about it.

When I told Econoloft I had spoken to Edbin and found out he turned the job down and why, I was again fobbed off by the company directors with some crap about the job being 'too problematic' for him. It was a simple dormer conversion, and a much smaller job than the one he did for my friend.

I was promised details of another team that could do the job and contact details of previous customers so I could check them out. I never received any such details despite waiting two weeks. So I fired them off the job once and for all because my patience had finally run out.

I asked the directors for a £1000 refund of my £3000 deposit, as any reasonable person should not expect to pay that much for what I actually received, but my request was flatly refused.

I now have a reputable company lined up from Checkatrade to do the work. I'm having to wait until October for the work to start but that's ok. Incidentally, Econoloft are no longer members of Checkatrade which I find quite telling. More...

We got a dormer loft conversion (without en suite) to add an extra bedroom and make some other changes on the first floor (take out fireplace and create landing space). Econoloft were great from start to finish. After they botched our loft conversion a few years ago, leaving us with multiple issues and even damage - we are still trying to get Econoloft to fix these issues. They do not care, they have ignored our emails & phone calls and have not come and fixed the issue. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I would appreciate a response from you Econoloft! We are still under warranty so I encourage you to stick to that agreement or I will be taking this far far further than you wish me to. Do the right thing and respond to your customers! More...

We would highly recommend Econoloft as they completed our loft conversion. What I liked was that they dealt with the whole thing from start to finish, including the plans and planning permission. For the first 3 weeks we hardly knew they were there as most of the work was accessed from outside. The builders were so respectful to my family & house, they tidied up every evening & kept us informed throughout the whole process. We now have a wonderful, useful large room which is used as an office & gym. We also managed to get a snug room as well which could be used as a dressing room or en-suite if you used the large room as a master room. I would definitely use Econoloft again if I ever needed too. I was apprehensive about the project and the team at econoloft were really great throughout the process. The building team worked like demons and as i was onsite often during the day they were able to suggest a lot of improvements to my build that i hadn't thought of and I was able to make changes as i went. The plumber and electrician were great too. The team in the office were very supportive and were always helpful on the phone. We absolutely love our new loft conversion and master bathroom refurbishment. As a heavily pregnant woman I wanted the work done before the baby arrived and that’s exactly what happened. All our family and friends who have been round to see it, have commented on the high standard of work. It has definitely been done by skilled workmanship. The loft looks beautiful, we are very impressed with it, and can’t believe how much spare space we had up there ! The whole Econoloft team from the surveyor, office staff to all the different tradesmen, worked extremely hard and ensured any issues were dealt with as quickly as possible.
