Our favourite hotels in Scotland. Food incredible, staff great. Family run business who are so much fun, location stunning. A must if going to be in the area. Lots to do and see. Fishing and hunting can be arranged. We’ve not done this though. Been for new year which is an experience. More...

We stayed as a family party for a couple of nights. The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The hotel is beautifully decorated in the main building and the fires help add to the cozy comfort. Breakfast was great, with a fantastic variety. My only criticism would be a bit more fruit. We had a superior room with a jacuzzi and the room was spacious and well maintained. The rest of our party were located in a building next to the hotel. Their rooms were well furnished. We all found it a bit difficult to work the over bath showers and regulate the temperature. The bathrooms in the outbuilding has no windows in the bathrooms and became quite damp after showering but this was solved by opening a window. We had dinner one evening in the hotel. Food was nice with a good menu selection. The drinks menu was also good. Would definitely recommend a stay here. More...

We stayed here for our annual Enchanted forest stay as we always feel we are rushing up and down when we go visit due to my fiance's job. ||||This year we decided to give staying over a try, this place is lovely, the staff are all super friendly and welcoming, the room was immaculately clean (they had some minor scratches in the bath but explained well by Innes), an extremely relaxing room and well furnished (although they should be glad one of their lamps didn't "vanish" with me because they were beautiful!!!)||||Friday night we had dinner in the bar, lit fire, amazing food, legit couldn't decide what to eat, huge portions as well, really cosy place to eat and we preferred it location wise to the restaurant. ||||Breakfast was amazing both days, get anything off the menu and you wont be disappointed, promise.||||Had drinks in the snug again which was cosy and welcoming, really loved it. ||||Night 2 we turned the central heating off and put the fire on in our room, an absolutely magic experience and one i would recommend doing, ||||We had a few minor niggles but we fed them back to Innes and he took them all on board, honestly a lovely wee hotel with a view that is breathtaking, i wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here, its a great find and you won't be sorry. Our family group of six were wanting a Sunday lunch and after research on Trip Advisor we booked at East Haugh House. Everything about it was good - parking outside a lovely old house, friendly and efficient staff, and great food. There was a choice of roast lamb or roast pork, both with Perthshire Puddings (what we know as Yorkshire puddings). Some of us enjoyed a dessert too while I had the cheese and biscuits (there is a good choice of cheese including some new to me). More...

We had been recommended to this establishment by our new neighbours so decided to give it a try on a Friday night - always a good test as the kitchen can get busy. We were not disappointed. From the warm and friendly welcome by the manager, to the attentive and efficient waiting and bar staff, everything ran smoothly. We didn't have to wait long for food but equally were not rushed.||||We ate in the bar area and it was very cosy with the woodburner. I was intrigued to find out how they could make the traditional Scots dish of "Haggis, neeps and tatties" into a restaurant class meal but they did. Very nicely presented with a tasty mustard sauce and top quality haggis. The other dishes were of a good standard and fairly priced for the location and quality. Drinks reasonable and good choice on the wine list. Impossible to fault. More...

Lovely hotel with fab rooms and great staff. It was our last stop on our NC500 tour. It has a very personal feel - more of a house than a hotel. Food was really good also. This is potentially more of an issue relating to hotel.com but you’d think that a search for a pet friendly hotel room would deliver just that. We were told that our Labrador wasn’t allowed in the room we’d been allocated. We just stood our ground on the basis that I didn’t think they’d try and physically throw us out and they backed off when they realised we weren’t budging! I now make a point of also ringing hotels to double check re doggy accommodation after making an online booking through hotel.com.Only other negative is that it’s close to the main road - so not a peaceful idyll necessarily with traffic thundering up and down the dial carriageway. I’d try and find somewhere quieter next time. Having said that it’s also very convenient for staying at if you’re passing on the A9. More...

We had drinks in the afternoon and then got ready for dinner. Steven has lamb kofta and I had chicken liver pate to start followed by ribeye steak for Steven and roasted cod for me, everything was brill. They give you home made bread which is amazing. Wee more couple of drinks then back to the room to put another fire on. Breakfast was also amazing, scrambled egg is the best I have ever had. I normally have tomato sauce with this but didn’t bother as the eggs were fab and would have ruined it had I used the sauce. We stayed for four nights in the Gate Lodge which is detached from the hotel. Lovely cottage in prime location. However no pathways to walk into Pitlochry and it is a fast road so not possible or safe to do so. Also very near to A9. Not sure of the noise levels in hotel rooms but we could still hear the traffic at the cottage. |||| Spacious for the three of us (a couple with mother-in-law). Nice lounge with two sofas and lovely bedrooms with luxurious and cosy bed and linen. || Only one bathroom but we managed to cope with it. The bathroom is rather magazine perfect than functional. Toilet seat was loose then fell off - we reported three times- but sadly still wasn't fixed when we left. Anyone with mobility or balance/elderly issues would struggle to climb into bath/shower safely. ||||The kitchen was a major disappointment. Picked up a guests comments earlier that the kitchen was freezing - so it had been reported!!||But still No heating! And it was freezing, so this rendered it out of use to eat in. And it certainly needed an injection of TLC. Poor selection of crockery and equipment. Not even a water glass to drink out of. No tea towels or the essential wine cork! However when we asked the Hotel staff they were eager to provide. But this should've been addressed without asking. Heating was perfectly set and worked fine in the other rooms. ||||Outside of the cottage the garden was neglected and tatty! Pathways were very slippy with moss and shrub debris when wet as we found out and the lighting did not work so it was somewhat difficult to negotiate when dark. Needs smartening up! ||||We had house keeping every day if we wished. The cleanliness was of a good standard mainly but there was an unacceptable amount of dust under the bed. It would not take much to get this cottage up to a good standard. ||||||On a very positive and pleasant note the staff in the hotel could not have been nicer. We had breakfast each morning in a delightful dining room (there was also doggy friendly tables in another bar area). The young lady waiting on our table was charming pleasant and really lovely with excellent hosting skills and attention to detail. She really went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after (Katey?) The breakfast itself was amazing. Really good quality produce and locally sourced. Everything seemed to be cooked to order. The Chef was definitely the master of eggs. Boiled, scrambled, fried, and poached equally all 1st class. ||We had dinner in the dining room on one evening. Which was also first class. Posh fish & Chips and Local Grouse were fetched to our || table. We couldn't fault the meal. Menu a little small so the choices were not for everyone. Although we were approached by another staff member who reassured us that the chef would try to accommodate other requests if we had any. We didn't take this offer up. The only comment was that the dinner was a little over priced. ||||Overall if all of the above was addressed then this accommodation would be worth the money. But we did feel it was not of a standard so viewed it as well overpriced. Not to say we won't return if all the above was rectified. We did get a small discount off the bill - which was neither here or there and didn't influence our views - sorry! More...
