Shivani was the lead photographer for my Indian wedding at Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA.I was incredibly impressed with the way Shivani ran the entire day. Honestly, she's a key reason why the wedding went off without a hitch! I loved how the minute she came into the hotel room with her massive staff, she sprung into action for set-up, identifying the exact nooks and crannies for optimal lighting and picturesque backgrounds. She wasn't afraid to get in there and be creative; rearranging the hotel furniture and re-draping the windows.The best part was that I was able to rely on Shivani and her crew to help me make sure that my day ran smoothly from a timeline perspective. We'd finish one session (e.g. bridesmaids champaign toast) and then I'd turn to her and say: What's next? She'd be ready with the next phase with sibling and parents. I knew I was in good hands. Timeline is among the most vulnerable piece of the entire day, and it's critical to have someone who is ON IT as your lead photographer. Someone who can communicate with everyone around when there are a thousand moving pieces. All with a fantastic and light hearted attitude. Shivani is a boss like that. In fact, all of my friends were commenting on how Shivani seemed like some sort of artist / photographer prodigy because of her age & the quality of the photo previews!Her attention to detail was noticeable; whether it was a quarter inch to the left or right, she had a VERY clear vision for what she wanted. And the photos speak for themselves. She captured some of the most intimate and memorable moments for our family that we literally couldn't have imagined. Lin & Jirsa are the absolute BEST wedding photographers in Southern California. Chris Lin, one of the owners of the company, was our photographer for both our engagement and wedding photos, and we could not be happier with the results! He is so creative, engaging, and hard working--on top of being an amazing photographer--and the pictures turned out absolutely beautiful!! One of the best things about Chris is how much direction he gave, and his sense of space. He always had perfect poses in mind, and really led us through all of the pictures he wanted to take. My husband and I (and our wedding party) found this super helpful--we never had to think about how to pose, or whether to smile, or where to put our hands. It's something you don't think about beforehand, but ended up being very important for the actual pictures.Although they're based in Orange County, they traveled to Palm Springs for our engagement photos and San Diego for our wedding. My wedding planner recommended about 10 different photographers, and as soon as we saw Lin & Jirsa's portfolio and style, there really wasn't any other choice for us. As a company, they took care of everything from start to finish (including coordinating with the venues regarding permits, off-limit areas, etc.). If I could give them a 10, I would! Honestly since we met Joe since we fell in love with his demeanor and attitude, he told us we can get a few GREAT photos vs a lot of "tension filled, stressed photos," and I knew he would work with our crazy family and all of the different personalities. He made our engagement shoot easy and fun despite the stress of the LA traffic and at the end of that day we knew we would have Lin & Jirsa come out to little first state Delaware for our wedding! My dad was very hesitant about a photographer coming from California, stated what if they don't show? Which I then had a bad dream about but I knew that would never happen!During our 1400+ wedding it never felt stressful because we’d look at Joe and he knew what we wanted. BRANDON. If he's available for your special day, request to book him. I'm sure there are a lot of great photographers out there with the technical skills but Brandon goes above and beyond. He is able to take people like us that have never been in a photo shoot and put us at ease. During the photo shoots, I liked how he would que us occasionally and make adjustments. We're not models, we don't know how we look in photos, and we don't know how to pose for more than a few seconds. He would help us by giving us instructions as well as letting us be our awkward selves for candid style photos. He erased all my concerns and created the looks that we talked about beforehand in our discussions/expectations meeting as well as creating a portfolio of amazing photos.We were fortunate to have Brandon as our lead for our engagement photo shoot, Tea Ceremony photo shoot, and the day of wedding (3 separate days). Brandon and his team were absolute professionals. It didn't matter to him if he was knee-deep in the ocean with us during our engagement session, running sparklers around us at night, or if he had to capture multiple sets of extended family group photos. It was hard work and I felt a little bad at first that we had so many requests but Brandon and his team did it with enthusiasm and a great attitude. It made a big impression on us and it showed in our photos that we were comfortable and happy. I looked at probably 20-30 different photographers online portfolios and met with a few in person beforehand. I narrowed my choices down but I kept coming back to L&J's photos. Lin and Jirsa's prices are more on the higher end of the spectrum but they are worth it and I quickly saw why. Brandon's team came with 2nd and 3rd shooters and suitcases of heavy equipment for nighttime photos. L&J have a signature look to all their photo's and I was surprised to see all the equipment it took to create the photos we wanted. There's a lot of behind-the-scenes work such as an extra set of hands holding a reflector for perfect lighting, extra remote flashes, and editing involved. And on the day of wedding, there were so many things happening at the same time that we needed a 2nd and 3rd shooter to assist and capture everything. Weddings are expensive but photography was one tangible item we could keep forever. There's more to photography than point and shoot and so much pre-work to get that perfect shot as well as editing work involved after. The day of wedding goes by so fast but I'm glad to have gorgeous photos remaining. Tips: We got married on a Saturday on 4/28/2018 and I believe L&J had 6 or 7 weddings booked that day. You can choose which photographer you want based on availability, so book early. Some popular photo shoot locations will require a photography permit by the city or venue. L&J took care of the permits for us (paperwork) and we just refunded them. When we showed up to one of our photo shoot locations that required a permit, there was a discrepancy by the venue saying we didn't have the permit although I know L&J prepaid for it already. Due to time before the wedding, I paid for the permit (again) to the venue just so we can get in since we were on a packed timeline. After the wedding, L&J contacted the venue for us and had the venue refund me directly for the mishap. I appreciated L&J's staff taking care of the little things for us. The permit cost was negligible but it was helpful to have personal assistance on our behalf. L&J are one of the best at what they do and have established relationships with everyone in the industry. The videos were customizable to our exact liking - I especially love the highlight video so much! The photos were just as amazing. I don't think there is enough space to say all the wonderful things I want to about Lin and Jirsa! But I'm up for the challenge, so here goes. ..Putting together a wedding is, well... everything they say about it is true. It's wonderful, exciting and STRESSFUL. Lots of moving pieces. But right from the beginning they put my (now husband, then fiance) and I at ease. They asked questions that cut to the core of what we wanted out of our photos. I knew there would be at least one part of the wedding that would be perfect!And it was. Pye was with us day-of and he was very interactive and gave great tips to ensure everyone was comfortable (and looked great!). He was able to pull emotions out of people and capture special moments. From the very first phone call to review what we were looking for in wedding photography, it was clear that Lin & Jirsa are way more than a wedding photographer. The questions they ask and the feedback they solicit is all about helping them to create the perfect story of your wedding day and they completely blew us away. My wife wanted a bright and beautiful aesthetic and I wanted something that told a story about people enjoying themselves and having a great story. When we received the initial teaser images in an email on our honeymoon, we were in tears remembering our beautiful day and how we will be able to remember it thanks to the perfectly captured moments. My family and friends were all so comfortable with the whole process and loved working with them as well. Our experience:  My husband and I had a blast working with Lin and Jirsa.  Our photographers were Brandon, Erin and I think his name was Max?  (Sorry if I got the name wrong!!)  They were fantastic.  Very easy to work with and receptive of ideas.  We vibed very well with them.Prior to our wedding day I had chatted with Brandon in regards to specific shot lists I had in mind.  He was so great as to try to capture them all day of.  And I really appreciated his openness to that.  Why I picked Lin & Jirsa: -I love that Lin and Jirsa provides three photographers.  And the price is quite reasonable for them.  My husband and I had a 300 people wedding so it was important to us that we had more photographers to not only capture all the events happening but also our guests enjoying themselves, specifically our family members.  -I really enjoy the look of the photographs: it's always so bright and golden but not over-exposed.  -They take great indoor photographs.  For me it was important that whichever photographer I picked did a good job capturing moments under dim conditions.  And they nailed it.-They also do an amazing job capturing posed and candids.Rooms for Improvement:There's no such thing as a perfect vendor, so my only experience where I felt could've used some more improvement was they could do a bit more micro-management on details.  Ie: if you notice my ring is crooked please fix it prior to taking a photograph, telling people how to pose if what they're doing is unflattering, telling people where to stand, etc. More...

We're 7 months late on this review, but better late than never, right? This is pretty simple: Stop what you're doing and book L& J. They are incredible from the initial meeting through to the delivered product. Their attention to detail is relentless and to say they go the extra mile in creating images is an absolute understatement. That being said, the way they make you feel is beyond amazing. Instantly, you forget there are cameras on you and begin to feel like they are friends that you've known your whole life. From start to finish, there's never any awkwardness in front of the camera; our friends who never show their faces in ANY picture were amazed at how comfortable they felt. If we could give Lin and Jirsa more stars we would! Finding a photography team was the toughest vendor to find after the venue. Brandon, Nick and Rabia was an awesome team to work with. They were so patient with my crazy big family during the tea ceremony and the day of wedding. Although we had to shorten our hours they worked with our tight timeline and got all the shots that we had wanted. We had already seen how they worked during our engagement session and so completely trusted them for our big day! My husband was very nervous with posing but Brandon made it super easy to follow directions and made it possible to capture the shots. Lin and Jirsa are very organized and asked us to do a mood board ahead of time so we can give our photographers good ideas of what we were looking for. They make sure to do engagement session and wedding day final meetings to make sure everyone is on the same page. I had special requests to do a message in the bottle last minute for our engagement shot and Brandon and Rabia were so sweet to help me with the surprise. I had really wanted the sparkler photo and the lighter I brought was not working! Brandon was insistent we keep trying to get the fun shot in. Thank you so much to the team! After having seen some of Lin and Jirsa's wonderful photos on my Facebook news feed over the years, I knew that I wanted to use them for my own wedding. They are on the pricier side, but the price includes 2 photographers (1 of them is the main photographer who also photographs the engagement session) and 1 additional photographer/lighting assistant for the actual wedding. My main photographer was Mike Santos. My husband and I enjoyed working with him. His laid back personality made him comfortable to be around. He also gave us directions on how to position ourselves so that we would look great in our photos. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and our photos! Without a doubt the most incredible photography business in the wedding industry. We chose a very dim lit venue with zero natural lighting. We needed someone whose skills could capture the romance and drama and cinematic vintage feel we wanted. We decided to go with master photographer Justin Lin, did our engagement photos which turned out stunning and an ode to our special vintage fall wedding day. Justin is very, very creative and really takes the time to listen to whatever style you want and desire. They do a questionnaire and Pinterest board to help better understand your photo style. I am a meticulous person so I was very particular and Justin just absolutely blew our minds!!!!!  We can't thank Bekka, Emmie Leena and the whole team for putting up with us. We truly know that these photos will be our most treasured and valued wedding keepsakes for the rest of our lives. You MUST choose them, they deliver the most cinematic, creative, dramatic and colorful vivid images you could ever ask for. We will certainly refer them to everyone. My husband and I were exceptionally particular about which photographers and videographers we would use to capture our wedding. That was one of the most important aspects for us as the pictures and videos will last forever. We met with several vendors and after meeting with Lin and Jirsa we knew they were the ones. They did an incredible job capturing all of the moments throughout our wedding day. They were lovely, professional, easy to work with and most importantly so much fun! They made us feel comfortable and captured our authentic selves. We spent many hours getting our picture taken, throughout our wedding day, and knew that it would all be worth it because the pictures would be phenomenal. They were. We received our pictures a few days ago and words cannot describe how gorgeous they are. They captured so many amazing moments and you can literally feel the love that we have for each other and towards our family and friends. I cannot be happier with the job they did. For our wedding, we knew we wanted something edgier than the faded vintage look. We also like the timeless and classic feel that these full color images bring. Our wedding was captured in a vibrant manner that appealed to not only us but many compliments from guests as well. From the moment we sat down with Chris, I knew we would go with him. I loved how we knew exactly what we were getting from the first moment we sat down to meet him to the end of the wedding day where he stuck through with us through thick and thin.  We knew exactly what we were getting into without any big surprises on the big day.Chris is calm and assertive without being aggressive.  He can hand hold but he doesn't really have to. I felt his quiet confidence throughout the day and it made me personally feel safe. Like, no matter what happens, what small hiccups and bloopers occurred during our day, Chris would make it look beautiful. And, that's mostly all that matters, right? We got our images back in a timely manner and immediately we sat down and watched the whole dvd of our images- twice. It felt amazing to relive the glory and the craziness that went down. (We got a little tipsy lol, and one guest went too far with the drinking and dancing and landed in the ER: Chris even got THE SHOT that took him flat on his face: it was a flip of some sort)Long story short... My husband and I chose to go with Chris as our lead photographer and are beyond happy with our choice!!! We also chose to go with Lin and Jirsa for our videography, and are so happy to have worked with Michael! We had a fusion Persian and Indian wedding and it was a day filled with lots of traditions, which means lots of photo opportunities and running around!Before the event, they spent time understanding our vision and what was important to both of us. They had great tips and helped us prepare for the day ahead so we could maximize the photography. Additionally, they had experience working with our planners, which just made it even easier for us. During the day of the event, the team was everywhere, taking tons of photos, and capturing great moments! Due to their experience with both cultures, they knew exactly what to capture and where to be, which was such a relief as a bride. The team was so much fun to work with and had such great energy throughout the day, and even kept us going when we were tired! They whole team was so genuine and kind! They were interested in our events and invested in getting us great photos! Both my husband and I were pleasantly surprised about how at ease we felt with everyone!! After the event, we began working with a service consultant, Emi, who has been so amazing!! She answers all our questions and has been so patient with us throughout the process. Our photographs are flawless and fantastic!!! Going through our catalog was like reliving the day all over again and every shot seems better than the one before it!! Overall, Lin and Jirsa as a company understood that this day was very important to us. They had probably photographed tons of weddings before ours but not once did I feel that this was routine to them. Lin and Jirsa photos are incredible. I am so glad that I hired them as our photographers. They ask you about the styles of photography you like and they make it happen. I have searched through over a dozen different wedding photographers and I strongly feel that they are hands down the best.I also know that Pye Jirsa teaches courses on photography. They are probably the most advanced in technology for wedding photography. I know they are expensive, but they are totally worth it. One way for me to tell if a photographer is really good is to examine their jewelry photos. It is not easy to take a good photo of jewelry due to the lighting. More...

Lin and Jirsa Photography is the absolute best in wedding photography. Justin Lin was extremely professional, caring, and coordinated throughout the marathon of our wedding day. My husband and I aren’t the most photogenic folks, but Justin brought the best sides out of both of us during our engagement shoot (shout-out to our second shooter Emily!) and our wedding day! We loved our experience with Lin and Jirsa. After researching and contacting numerous photographers, we chose Lin and Jirsa based on their unique photography style. Although they have multiple photographers, everyone has a similar style that is consistent throughout their blog. Our photographer, Matt, did not disappoint! He shot some amazing photographs and was creative with the angle and lighting in some of our shots. Our engagement session included our dog who was not very cooperative, but Matt was still able to take some great photos. On the day of our wedding, Matt and the other photographers were very professional and everything went smoothly. Our wedding photos turned out amazing and we received them within a few weeks of our wedding. We had our wedding in 2014 so this review is long overdue. I had the opportunity to work with Lin and Jirsa’s photography team and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Jackie, the studio manager at the time, was very professional when I first got in touch with them. She provided all the information regarding the type of packages that were available and also gave us ideas on how to approach and plan the styles that we want for our engagement and wedding photography. We did not get the chance to work with the master photographers as they were not available on the day of our wedding, but the associate photographer, Daniel, was able to perform a very competent job and put our mind at ease. We met with Daniel to discuss the types of photos that we wanted and also go over the time frame and schedule for the day of the wedding. Daniel did a great job on our engagement shoot and we were able to visit a few scenic spots given the amount of time for some really wonderful photos. Lin and Jirsa’s team is more than professional during the day of the wedding. They arrived early to set up all the pre-wedding shoots and made sure we have ample time to get ready so the wedding will be on time and on schedule. Our photographers were the fabulous Nicole, Brandon, and Enoch.I was supposed to have a conversation with Nicole about the schedule and my artistic preferences a month before the wedding, but I never got around to it, and turned in my mood board waaaaay late. That too, I wasn't sure if what I liked in other people's photos would work for us (kind of like clothes and makeup). You definitely shouldn't do what I did, but with only a few days heads up about the schedule and 25 images thrown onto a mood board for reference, Nicole and her team provided outstanding service and the most gorgeous photos that featured all the cool photographic styles I had included in the mood board. Aside from the amazing quality of the photography (which doesn't need explanation because you can see for yourself) their service was amazing. They were very experienced with South Asian weddings. While I was having internal panic attacks because literally nothing went as planned, they rolled with it and expertly improvised the plan so that we could make the best of the situation. In fact, when I was changing out of my ceremony sari and into my reception lehenga, all the people who I expected would be there had to rush off to do their own outfit change. It was my makeup artist and Nicole -- neither of whom are South Asian -- who ended up helping me put the whole ensemble together.  Imagine a photographer who knows what pattern your churis should be in and how to pleat and pin your dupatta and secure your side tikka!    While Nicole was doing my portraits, Enoch and Brandon were with my husband. I worried about my husband because he's the type of guy who is not aesthetically inclined and needs lots of guidance (which I didn't properly give him beforehand). But I needn't have worried. Whatever issues they might have come across, they handled it because the portraits and details they took of him were straight up out of GQ. Andrew from Lin and Jirsa was our wedding photographer. Although they are on the pricier side, I have absolutely no regrets hiring them! Andrew and his team were friendly, professional, and so easy to work with! The company asked us for a 'mood board' so that they can get a feel of what kind of shots we liked. Alec, Von and Jonathan were awesome on our wedding day.  My bridal party was an hour (or two?) late and Alec and Jonathan were able to catch us up with the time we had left.  It was so easy and comfortable working with them.  They were very detail orientated which can be seen in all their pictures.  They may be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for and it was all worth it! It's been two and a half happy years since our big day and I have only recently recovered from the stresses/horrors of the entire engagement/wedding process from ring shopping to feeling like a human ATM used by the various vendors to dealing with some vendors who were not so professional (see my other reviews) in order to write this review.  Lin & Jirsa was the epitome of QUALITY!  People say "you get what you pay for" and this process reminded me of that.  While L&J cost an arm and a leg (and a kidney and my firstborn's first year's contribution to his 529) to have co-owner Justin Lin be our photographer, I am reminded that it was well worth it every time I see our wedding album! Our pictures are just as stunning as all the ones featured on their blog/website.  They perfectly captured the happiness and magic of that day, which is a wonderful thing because that day was such a blur when it was occurring.  From the initial meeting in order to find out what our style and wants were to the delivery of the album, Justin and his team were consummate professionals who treated us like we were VIPs.  They've done this so many times that you have nothing to worry about and they are as low-maintenance as you can get with a wedding vendor.   You can have the fanciest wedding dress with the poshest venue and the most elegant and lavish reception, but if you have any joe schmoe photog off the street capturing that special day, you won't have much to remember your special day by years down the road when you may want to share the experience with your kids and all that remains are these photos!   While I'm sure you could get similar, almost as good pictures from another cheaper photographer, I would, and have, recommended their services to many friends because I feel you get quality, consistency, and peace of mind with L&J. I did get an e-mail asking for a review, and typically I don't like being asked to review but we loved them as our photographers. The bad:  It is really really expensive.  You may or may not care if you are even considering hiring them, but a complete wedding package here could easily be the first year tuition for your firstborn.  Google that cost.  But it's okay that is why we have Orange Coast College.  With that said, you will have the most beautiful pictures that anyone has ever taken of you.  Just look through their blog and albums and you'll see what I mean.  Don't worry about not being photogenic or ugs because they are pure professionals at making you the best looking you've ever looked.  I stumbled upon their blog many years ago while googling god knows what.  I fell in love with their style of photography and at that moment my incredibly single self had just chosen my wedding photographer.  When I finally was getting married (yay!) I went to the 8 year old bookmark saved on my browser- Lin & Jirsa Photography. Their communication from beginning to end is very thorough.  You will get plenty of e-mails from various departments every step of the way and everybody I encountered was very down to earth.  We had Chris as our photographer and he was really cool, professional, and fun to work with.  Assistants were also very professional, but it stood out to us at our reception photos that even their super assistant photographer who did our entrance photos (you would understand if you've ever been to an AzN wedding) would make sure we were still posed in every single shot.  She would tell us to stand in certain ways, both hands on the bouquet, etc... and when you do like 100+ of the same pose in an hour, I imagined she would mindlessly click but she didn't!  They are really great about capturing details and looking back at one of your images, you will easily step back into that moment and remember what you felt.  I think their images really speak for themselves.  People always told me that something always goes wrong your wedding day, but if you have Lin & Jirsa I can vouch that it definitely will not be your photographers.  Call early and make sure they have your day available! Lin and Jirsa is simply amazing at what they do. You cannot go wrong with choosing them to capture your special day. My husband and I had the pleasure of having Chris and Alec and their team as our photographers for our wedding day, and they were so professional yet comfortable to have the entire day. Fast forward 10 months later - We liked Chris so much that we also asked him to do our maternity photo shoot, and he was again such a blessing to work with. He went above and beyond to make a 9 month pregnant woman have a smooth photo session. We highly recommend Chris and his team. We chose Lin & Jirsa for our engagement and wedding photos and are very pleased with the results. From the get-go, the studio associates responded to our emails promptly and professionally. Our main photographer, Alec, was really great to work with--easy to talk to and very experienced. On the wedding day, several people in the bridal party mentioned how great the photography team was. I wanted to share that our Wedding went great, and even though it was a long and at times challenging day, Andrew and his team from Lin and Jirsa did a WONDERFUL JOB! !! He, Kevin, and Bilal were personable, professional, and made our Photo Shots and Experience a TRUE Pleasure!!! In truth, they kept us calm, collected, and comfortable... and they laughed at my dumb jokes! Most importantly, they brought they kept us on task...
